My take on what we do
1. May goes. I love him but get rid of him. If hasn’t committed by now it’s poor, I don’t care if pick 8. See ya
2. Send hall to draft. So bad that video. That level of arrogance. F. U. (I know we trade but sour taste on this one. I would love to send message!!)
3. Scrimshaw gone. No smoke without fire, gone for cheap.. same as k. K.
4. Last mature age we trade. It’s our ace in potential “mega” trade for good pick upgrade.
5. no more surprise departure trades. Jack stays.
6. Use live trading to our advantage. Bundle picks with Adelaide or port. Sacrifice 3 for potential 5 picks in top 20.
7. First Picks are obvious. Luk, rozee, Smith. smokees Caldwell & Sturt.
8. Next captain. Touk. Vice. Weller
Go Suns!!

May would prefer to be traded to Melbourne in coming days but accepts that if the Demons cannot come up with an early pick there is no way the Suns will trade him. Instead he would have to earn his free agent rights by playing out a final year - most likely not as the captain - with the Suns and May to have a mature attitude to his impending departure.

Tackles aren’t really a focus kpi for tall hbfers.

A random selection of players in similar positions Shepherd, mills, burton, roberton, Jake kolo all averaging less than 1.5 - 2.8!the past few years

Whether this just highlights a broader issue.. sounds like it does in this instance.

No doubt scrimshaw has skills but has to be accepted that there are deficiencies in his game.. otherwise he would have played.

In saying that it is all about communication.

Other players seem to indicate good communication lines with coaching staff but if one player feels like it wasn’t up to scratch I would want us to be sure there aren’t others still st the club in the same situation.
Haines discussed in a story what they required from Scrim. They wanted more consistency and they wanted him to work on that.
Haines said he believed Scrim had AFL qualities and the club were working with him and confident he would get there.
We were told in August that he was fully invested in the club. Something went wrong somewhere. But I’m more than comfortable with us setting standards for everyone and not bending them. That’s how culture is built.

If I’m scrimshaw I’m looking for a new manager.. if he feels like he can’t approach dew and ask why he’s not being picked or needs to work on then he should be sitting down with his manager and the club! It’s not like dew is locked away in a separate room with the top picked 25 players and can’t be approached maybe that’s part your responsibility too being his parent

You think its a parents fault?
I would suggest some characters knock on the coaches door all day and others have their reasons not too. Extravert/intravert. The word Coach would suggest that person is responsible for getting the best out of each individual.

If you dont chat with intraverts you cut out 50% of your team value.

Yes correct, thank you for the accurate info!

The problem was not being played over other less consistent players. The consistency was due to set backs to fitness not effort.

The club called it dangling a carrot when they made him emergency so many times but without communication it was interpreted as the coach doesnt want me here. By not playing him it brought oppo clubs to the door.

Then reported salary cap issues, made it worse.

and bingo..player wants out! All they had to do was talk to him and show support.

Haha Ive told you a billion times not to exaggerate fan!
Come on Dave that's enough suns bashing for one night mate.

Head back over to the Hawks forum or the scrim thread on draft, trading & free agency thread and post that video again it's been a few hours :thumbsu:

When was that posted mate ?

I can't find anything posted online tonight about it

I don't know what is going on behind the scenes R.E. Scrim, and their seems to be conflicting views so Im not sure anyone knows the full story.
But Bowes, Ainsworth, Brodie, Powell, Ballard, Crossley, and even Scheer and Heron from the past 2 drafts have all managed to be rewarded with gametime under Dew. So there is obviously something going on there with Jack, whether thats fom his end or Dew's. But it does seem odd when he is in the same situation as all these kids that he is the odd one out.

Anyway, back to trade week. Looks like we could have a very good hand come draft night. If we can land 5 picks in the top 24, added to the last 2 drafts + Weller, then their is stage 1 of the rebuild done you would have thought. Just have to develop them from there and then maybe look at young KPP depth (especially down back if May goes this year/next year).

Next year
KPP defence - Thompson, May?, Day, Leslie?, Collins, Burgess, Koenan, Graham, Lukosius
KPP offence - Wright, Day, Lukosius, Burgess, Corbett, Crossley, Graham, May?
Is it OK or are we in trouble?

A bit hard to tackle when you keep winning the footy!

A player who fumbles lays more tackles than one who doesnt!

Tackles are one element and ACCURATE possessions are another. Are you saying youd rather he does 1% well and not 99? Id suggest you look at disposal efficiency because a tackle might force a turnover but if you then get the ball and immediately give it back thats no way to win matches.

Are you saying the club was critical of him for that? If so, nobody mentioned that to him! That was NOT brought up in his exit interview!

Good footy teams are built using player strengths in the right plan. When player feels valued for what he can do, vs what he cant, that is the way you improve a skilled players pressure, through positive reinforcement.

The type of skills the club needs to win flags are leaving. Make your list of the most skilled players at the club, then compare it to the list of those who have or who want to leave.

What Im saying is the very reason Collingwood and Buckly turned it around and why Clarkson is interested in bringing skilled players to Hawthorn.

Im not saying pressure isnt important, it is but there is no more pressure on the opposition than when they are chasing you!
Calm down Champ l'm directly quoting what l was told l've hardly ever seen Scrimshaw play.
I think he should be preserved with personality.
I would say however an average of 19 possessions at NEAFL level is hardly world shattering ball winning

Everyone got to remember the draft still 6 weeks away
Gives lukosius rankine and Rozee plenty of time to get caught drink driving Aka Curnow and tumble down the draft board.
North are rookies at this - they started spreading rumours on Thomas 2 months early - timing is everything

If it’s as heavily front ended as reported then I’d hold him to the contract. It’s a joke what’s happening the last 2 years.
The ATO should investigate the Lions for paying Claye Beams to be an AFL footballer - that income needed to be assessed in Dayne's tax return.

Up forward with Wright, Crossley, Lukosius, Corbett (3rd tall), we are very young but could potentially be set for 8 years. Plus Day, Burgess and Graham capable of swinging through there means I think we are fairly set, as long as we have faith in our development team.
As for the defence, I forgot about Graham. If we think their is something there to develop then we should look pretty set for developing talls down back if May goes, assuming we keep Leslie or bring in Collins; Thompson, Day, Leslie/Collins, Burgess, Koenan and Graham developing. But it might be something we have to look at next year once we have a midfield put together, just thinking long term.

Hell, DMac was racking up 40+ in the middle and still couldn't get a gig until he became a hard-tackling small forward. Possession numbers mean hardly anything in the NEAFL.

This is where I normally come in and post some pearls of wisdom ;), but tonight my wife has explained to me that the volume in the bottle of Glenfidditch has diminished somewhat, and I should keep my mouth shut. So with that, I'm not going to comment on any previous posts, except to say, Onwards and Upwards for the Mighty Suns.....

You can't believe how hard that is, not to say something about the poor 20yo who feels he is hard done by, whilst earning 400k a year...

They now need to stop saying a player is 'fully invested' - when the players leave the club officials sounds like corporate dickheads

Apologies. The comment about him being invested in the club was made from family in here in early August.

Considering Lynch, who has the potential to be the best forward in the game is leaving that group we look okay. It just depends on how much we get out of Wright and Day next year. Wright should be a 40 goals+ player and Day should be kicking more as well. The expectation is low next year for Burgess, Lukosious (if we pick him) and Crossley because they will take a while but i think midfield is still our biggest concern. Would be nice to add another Weller type player in the last three days of the trade period.

My apologies if you got the impression I wasnt calm. Certainly appreciate your opinion. I hope I can offer some valid insights so people who dont see much of a player can get a clearer picture.

This year he averaged 24 poss mostly from half back with 7 the lowest when ko’d. Very good numbers for a 19yo IMO.
