Trust me spots will be open up. Pick 47 will be better off for academy players like Greenwool , or Graham or upgrade Dawson and Vacant spot in Cat B rookie . That is also a big IF , like I said you think Adelaide will bid at pick 16;, if they don't then isn't it a waste of time worried about thing you can't really control .
I never said I think Adelaide will bid. I did say if I was Adelaide, I would bid to increase the number of players available at my next pick by 1. Clubs in this scenario aren't targeting a specific kid, they're just increasing the likelihood of a better player being available to them.
Of course there are more factors to take in to account. What your club deems as the highest pick they would be willing to match a bid on Scott at. What type of players/positions clubs after that pick will be looking at. If you are chasing mids, and the teams before your pick are chasing KPP's or general forwards or defenders, then it's more likely the type of player you are looking at will be available at your next pick, provided Scott isn't bid on before then. But if those teams are looking at mids as well, you are looking at a smaller pool of players available at your pick.
I was suggesting that you should look at the big draft picture and see where your club could take advantage, if there is an opportunity. And to also take in to account other clubs will also look to gain an advantage where possible
It's still very early in the season, and I'm in no way a draft expert (just a mug punter), but I put this big board up in the Lions draft discussion as we are also targeting mids. We'll likely have a draft pick in the picks 1 to 4 range, so unless we get pick 1, one of the top U18 mids will be available to us. The next group of top mids are all likely to fall before our next pick in the second round. So if we want to target a second first round pick, we most likely need to trade in to the 11 to 15 picks range. Curtis Taylor and Tom Berry being my two preferred targets. Of course all this discussion is just us blowing smoke, as none of us on BigFooty have any influence on what our clubs do.
