Very easy to bat things away, no easier position in life than counter punching.
How about the first half/second half neafl issues then.
If you aren’t going to bulk up then you want the cardio-vascular side of things to improve dramatically.
That's a different story. I think you can have a go at him if you think he's lazy or doesn't get the ball enough but he's ability to put on muscle hasn't got anything to do with why he's leaving.

Believe it or not Bods Im still a Suns fan. Im left with part disappointment, part happiness he is going to the Hawks and part excited about him coming home.
I mentioned yesterday in a post that Im not going to keep chatting about it but the particularly nasty and incorrect comments dont phase me. I get it that this game is an emotional one...its just the innacuracies I feel compelled to correct and the AFL website article today got my back up. Talk about fake news...and it comes from the AFL!! Geez...now I might get started!

Anyway, have loved the board and all the GC fans have been great...
Funny how people think differently about parenthood. My daughter moved away at 20 yo and returned home 6 months later. I felt embarrassed and like l had failed in my job to prepare my child to stand on their own two feet as an adult. Having her return home was the last thing l wanted.
Anyway good luck to you you have been restrained in batting for your kid but l don't think you need to. People on this forum will always be extremely disappointed and believe he showed very little perseverance and ran home at the 1st opportunity to the team he followed as a kid. You must concede from a GC perspective it looks very poor /soft.

Lets just settle down on the scrimshaw stuff. He obviously wasn't able to fit into the club the way others have and i can vouch for gromma that their have been failures at the club in communications (something i am currently seeking answers for from the club).
Whilst the suns supporter side of me hates seeing a bloke we put our support in up and leave to a rival and show off. The human side of me is sympathetic that the club has let down a potential talented kid.

The club and the AFL need to do better to ensure we don't waste our latest picks in 2018.

Yeah
Poor kid
$400k a year to bitch about the club on social media and play Fortnite
No doubt communicating with Hawthorn through the season while drawing a wage derived from sponsors and members
Who knows whether he and his family played us like an old piano driving down his trade value with assurances from Box Hill that they’d pick him up at the end of 2018?
The truth is the first casualty
Cry me a river

its got pretty much direct relevance to why he's leaving.
He's not got the muscle and endurance to play ones.
As Gromma has danced around throughout the year, if he was playing ones he'd be happy to stay.
ergo, if he were able to put on muscle and build endurance he'd be staying.

I think its all about perspective, these guys come out of the top 10 of the draft thinking 'I've done it, I'm an AFL player.' then they get to the club not realising they aren't an AFL player... they've just made it to the next step towards being an AFL player - making it to an AFL list.
Winning qualifying doesn't win you the race. Gromma, and by extension presumably Jack hadn't grasped this thus why he kept bringing up 'he's a pick 7' - Tell Darcy Mac how much pick 7 matters.
(maybe him realising that hes now a circa 6 pick downgrade in the 50s, might kick him into gear for the hawks)
All the comments about Jack being happy to move to the gold coast would have been from the 'i'm gonna move to Gold coast and play 20 games a year' Jack.
The Jack that was playing NEAFL and didn't have his name in up in lights, not so interested.

by winning qualifying all you really get is a second chance draw - if Scrim had gone at 67 where Scheer was eventually drafted*, would he be getting crack 2 at Hawthorn. I doubt it.

*not unrealistic... from memory most phantoms just before the 2016 draft had Scrim at 10-12 and Scheer at 15-20

You do know I like mature ages players ;)

Sometimes I think football Clubs and List managers are the world’s worst mug punters
They make bets on 17 yo’s that would make the 200:1 shot in the Cup look like good value
Everyone wants an Ablett a Dangerfield a Franklin
But mostly they’re betting the house on a few good games in the TAC Cup or a big game at school
Guys running around in hard as nails State comps winning heaps of ball just get nothing
It’s a strange world

Much rather talk about Corbett, Collins & Burgess. 3 young blokes that had to work hard to make the grade.
Any idea where they were tipped to go in the draft?
Burgess rookie
Corbett 30 - 60
Collins 50 - rookie

draft age should be 20. 2 extra years of development the players could step in an make an impact from day 1. They'd also have lived outside of home for a few years (or should have) and will be mature enough and hungry enough to go interstate with less 'homesickness'.

Would have a lot of pro's
But also a bit unfair on some of the guns of the competition.
Josh Kelly, Clayton Oliver etc.. were some of the best players in the country by age 20.

Watch how Richmond draft Grigg ,Cavara and Gibbons type for rookie salary to fund Lynch trade .

Josh Kellys breakout year was 21 but fair play with Clayton Oliver. But that is the absolute exception. Theres another 400 kids that got drafted between the time those two came along and none of them were 'guns' by 20 y/o.

If they're both that much better than everyone else at 20, they'll get taken higher in the draft. simple. Set the age to 20, with 1 selection per year an underage 19 year old.

You could argue this is happening at the moment
In essence Scrimshaw has been redrafted at 20 yoa
The difference is he now gets to choose where he goes and he’s earnt a lot of money from a Club utilising their resources to improve himself
The drafting Club gets zilch other than a very bad taste in its mouth
I’m sure Melb clubs agents and players will be looking at the Scrimshaw deal and seeing opportunity

I’d like us to play along and then at the last moment say “nah we’ve changed our minds” and stuff that for everyone.

Everyone in that scenario gets what they want except for us. We can wait 12 months and see if May buys in and KK improves and if not then we get almost certainly a top 4 pick for May.

As we’ve heard Port Adelaide are planning to simply take back the 2 SA boys in 2 years time ( ie at 20 yoa)
Maybe anyone traded within 3 years of their drafting has to return the equivalent points expended at the original draft?
