I know your finding the positive Sunny but even if we give the minutes to Bowes surely having a mature ready to go mid as a back up is a no brainer
I don't think Lyons will be hard to replace
I think we all liked him- but he's very very very replaceable

Bowes and Brodie are in their third years. They should be ready to start playing heavy midfield minutes.
Miller Swallow Fiorini Brodie Bowes Ainsworth Hanley Weller + GHS+??
Injuries aside does Lyons start in a best 22?
For many supporters he does, but for a coach and hierarchy that are looking for success I dont think he does
If we're playing JL every game we're not progressing

Yeah i think we have someone in mind and i think its Townsend.
If I was to scratch together a shopping list, which I haven't because I thought we were done -
- Jacob Townsend
- Mav Weller
- Dean Towers
- Billy Hartung
- Dan Menzel
- Lachlan Tiziani
- Josh Williams (former Academy)
- Josh Smith
- Sam McLarty
- Tommy Sheridan

I'm stunned!

Isn't this the same guy that was BOG when Junior played his 300th????

When Jarryd left Adelaide I was not happy Jan. But We stuffed up there waiting for Carlton to trade Gibbs and Gold Coast made him an offer he couldn't refuse.
I'v spent the last 2 seasons defending him on our board to all the so called experts who wouldn't know a good footballer if they saw one.

My guess is he will do very well at Brisbane. Was our best extractor at the Crows and not bad when played forward. Maybe not the fastest guy but a very good accumulator.

Thrived alongside Ablett but not sure what went wrong this season. Being dropped twice indicates all was not well.

4 clangers per game was pretty much the par for everyone in the top 10 for avg contested possessions per game in 2018 (Lyons was 9th).
You’re right there but those in that class use the ball better on other occasions. Lyons was ranked 619th in disposal efficiency at 60%. He just wasn’t clean when watching him.

I think Dew want a clean start , no point having a mature body if they don't buy in with your plan .
I wish I knew what the plan is. So far it’s been “ let’s get belted every week to hide our amazing game plan” then “ let’s divest ourselves of all the mature talent and then replace them with players that can’t get a game elsewhere, slow but obedient players” I call it operation let’s totally **** the club or operation tassie

It is most important for our senior players to have the right attitude to set an example for the kids. If Lyons didn't have it, he had to go. We've already brought in some slow, inside mids who apparently do have good attitudes. Now we're ready to draft the kids they'll have to teach.

I think it’s called let’s rid ourselves of ball butchers. It’s only just started too.

I get excited , totally caught Victoria media offguard with him going to Brisbane . Three years deal I think GC only offer him one year so he got option not to extend his contract .

Most touches and most clearences of any Suns player this year.
In a team that got smashed by on average 100-150 touches a game

Think he very irreplaceable atm. Unless we are chasing carltons pick 1 and Sam Walsh w

Can't wait for the Mav and Lachie reunion .

Just an observation about Lyons standing amongst posters on Bigfooty.

Reading the last few pages reminds me exactly of the Adelaide board. Jarryd really does divide opinion.

Unquestionably a good AFL footballer but while he may not have have X factor or long flowing blonde hair his ability to win the ball in close was second to none.

Both Barlow and Lyons were likeable and good inside mids BUT not game changers. I'm sorry to see both go but believe he (Lyons) would've struggled to get a game in the middle in 2019. Still a few curve balls to come yet so let's wait and see what we have as inside mids. Miles will definitely be as good, probably better than Lyons and if Pickett gets added to the likes of Swallow (remember him) and Brodie, I think we'll be better off. Take a breath and watch it all pan out BUT we better not trade pick 2 or 3 - then I will spit it!

That’s fair enough too but Mitch Hallahan could find it just as much in close. The turnovers hurt them both.

I mean, it’s not like he was a game changer to our team, and I fully expect Brodie to come in and replicate Lyons’ stats now that he is more entrenched in the midfield and ready to role. So I’m not disappointed that he’s gone per se. But what grinds my gears is that we have just delisted him, with a year to go on his contract? (I think), without any form of explanation from the club, Dew, etc. I know the coaching staff/list managers don’t have to explain themselves anytime they do anything, but a player like Lyons, one of our best performed guys when he played, firstly getting dropped numerous times despite good numbers, and now just dumped out of nowhere a day after lodging our list. Some sort of explanation to the members and fans would be nice. And why not trade him?
