question. don't players have their exit interviews straight after the conclusion of the season? why couldn't jarryd be open and admit he wasn't looking to re-sign after next season, so we could at least get some form of value from him in the trading period (like may)? regardless of what was written in that article from morris, i think it's pretty poor form when we're not going to get anything for him. i remember having a quick chat to him at one of those members "meet the recruits" nights after he signed and got the impression he only signed with us because our contract made his eallet heavier than what any other club could have offered.
I think he is going for the money , Brisbane only want him because of Beams departure. .This make the swap pick even worse that I thought ,Craig Cameron could well be another Clayton .

I’m so sick of the media and even our own supporters slamming the Suns... all this talk the club is a shambles is in fact the truth we get that. So stop flogging a dead horse. Before we continue questioning the judgement calls being made just remember Cameron, Dew, Haines and Evans are 12 months into this mitigated disaster. I really hope next year the suns win at least 5+ games and are as competitive as the lions were. 2019 could be breakout years for Miller, Weller, Fiorini, Ainsworth, Brodie, Bowes, Martin etc. We have plenty of talent there capable of big things. Add the top end talent we are going to draft, plus brand new facilities, improved coaching staff things whilst glum now will turn around quickly.

Good on you. Your name is what we need “committed Suns”, the Campaigners on our board that have ever used phrases such as “we might as well close the doors” or “then we should shut up shop” should be headbutted.
We are a new club.....deal with it or get the frig out.

Lyons isn't going to make Brisbane a 2 goal better side.

New club does not mean giving up player for free , Scrimshaw ,KK , Hall all sold around 4 th Rd pick , now Lyons depart to Brisbane for free .

I am a firm believer that anyone who doesn’t renew there membership next year is not a true supporter. I’m as disappointed as the next person about this trade period but let’s look at the positives. These fringe players have hunger, they are playing for a contract. I don’t know how the rest of you boys operate but when I am told I’m not good enough it gives me the motivation to give the middle fingers to those haters. Don’t expect big things but expect a team playing for one another and doing Gold Coast proud.

Take away your GC bias for a second... are these players match winners... I would say no, they are good players but replaceable. All second/third rounders at best... If we did trade for those types of picks wouldn’t we have to make more list changes to accomodate those picks? I stand by Cameron’s calls thus far and strongly believe we can’t change the past so let’s look forward to the future.

Your math are terrible , isn't it GC trade out future 2nd and 3rd for Brisbane first . What is wrong with getting GC future second back and send Richmond future 3rd to Brisbane . Don't always need to gave up players for free . There is one thing called future pick ,if you don't want to use this year pick .

* All club trading for multiple pick for their academy players, GC might need more pick next year for academy players too.

Scrimshaw-can’t make the afl team unless the entire squad is injured and comes with an enabler father that feeds him excuses.
KK-falls apart physically when tripping over going up a flight of stairs.
Hall-heart the size of a neutron.
Lyons-Mercenary and one trick pony.
Unfortunately they are steak knives types that will need to find a career after football doing a Joe Job as they will not go down in the annals.

We could have done better though maybe BUT you are taking the emphasis away from my and committedsuns point about those that get sucked into death Trolling their own clubs by saying “close the doors” and “shut up shop”.

Mr Bods I agree with you in most part but why not get more future pick just in case GC need it for academy players next year .Look at sydney ,Collingwood , North all trying to get more pick for their academy players . 3rd or 4th Rd pick there is point attached to it.

I think future picks are great but there like gambling. We need to focus on operation now. GC academy next year doesn’t have any superstars so I can’t foresee us needing to bank to much. Clubs know our situation so we hardly have any bargaining power

Just out of interest how many consecutive years have you been a member for and how many game have you attended ?

I don't know about you , I rather have 100 dollars in the bank that I can only use it next year than nothing at all . Lyons break his contract this year , what happen to Jack Martin and Callum Ah Chee if they are not happy next year and out of contract , you going to sell them cheap again ? .

5 years member and I go to at least 4 games a year. I have been a supporter since the start however I have lived in Coffs Harbour now Melbourne so it has been difficult to get to the games more regularly being a couple hours away from the ground.

Besides Lyons I would hardly say we have given anyone away for free? I don’t agree with the Lyons deal but his disposal efficiency was ranked 600+ plus so it’s not as bad as we are making it out

Jarryd Lyons has a brother. His name is Corey Lyons and he plays for the Brisbane Lions. That's incentive enough. I, for one, am glad that the Lions have finally taken things seriously and claimed their namesake players. It always irked me that Roos didn't play for Norf and Swan played for the Pies. Even Docherty at Freo and Eagles at West Coast, to name some current players.

Jokes aside, there isn't a single poster on this Forum who thinks Lyons, Swallow and Miller are the best starting 18 inside mid combination we can muster, even after the Trade Period is done. Letting Lyons know that he wasn't likely to play that much Senior footy has led him to request to be delisted, possibly making space for an Academy player or a free agent at a position of need. I've maintained that the answer for where our midfielders will come is from within. A midfield of Brodie, Bowes and Ainsworth has more potential than most, but it's going to be Miles, Miller and Swallow who get them there and with Ellis and Horlin-Smith on hand to keep the unit punching. Outside, led by Fiorini, Martin, Weller, Ah Chee, Powell and Ballard, this midfield is going emerge sooner because it won't be carrying a flat footed, unreliable hacker who, like our current PM, will get down and dirty and do anything to win but once he has a decision to make doesn't have a clue what to do with it.

Same I don't agree with Lyons deal , I don't have problem getting rid of him either , I just don't think GC should do a deal like this after the trade period. Yes the deal is for both Queensland club , but could done in a better way . Even Brisbane future first round pick for Lyons , GC Future second Rd pick look better .

Agree with you completely. Only positive is it’s the Lions

Lets judge the Lyons decision when we know who the list spot is filled with from a new DFA selection, then we can make an informed decision as to ow well this has been considered and planned
I done my venting today , if the name is Maverick /BG , I let you do the venting until draft night .

If you’re bringing in 5 highly talented 18 year olds who would you want them to be around and learn from?
GHS, Miles & Ellis or KK, Scrimshaw & Hall?
We paid less for those 3 yet Ellis was a first round pick 12, Miles a top 5 in a B & F at Richmond in a finals year.
You have to remember we told them to look elsewhere and market interest very low.

I agree with the above you mention , because the club inform them they want to put them up for sale . As for Lyons i don't know definitely look bad from the outside .

This is the second time GC tearing up players contract with a year to run
1) Jarrod Garlett ( No choice family problem ) - and then talk bad thing about GC after Carlton draft him .
2) Jarryd Lyons ( No choice , only tell the club he prefer Brisbane after the trade period )
