My response was to initial post of if you want to move up to get players that want to be there so thats one benefit.
The second obviously depends on who you want at 6. If its Caldwell then dropping to 8 may make sense and he may even go at 13.
If you look at the last scenario it gives you 4 1st rounders this year and 3 next year which may give better balance going forward.

Moving out of the elite top end of the draft just to get another pick outside this area is not smart. We already have two top end picks for next year and could potentially trade 1 or both of them next year for multiple picks.

Basically we will get a gun with each of our first 3 picks and the difference between who goes at 13 v 24 is a much smaller talent gap than 2,3 or 6 to 8.

It’s just my opinion but to get 2 or 3 you would need to bundle 13 and 16 to get the dogs pick 7 then on trade 7-8 as this would be the kind of OTO deal required to get the deal done. And frankly I think you would be mad to do it.

He will play a role for a couple of years to shield the younger kids, so we aren't throwing dripping wet 18 year olds out too early and do the damage like we did the first time around. By that 3rd year if everything goes well he will only be playing bit part roles/depth roles.

25 GCS players + 9 add on = 34

6 spots vacate for ND and Pre season Draft .

1 Rookie A spot vacate (6 spots ) - GCS get approval from AFL for 2 extra rookie spot .
So instead of 38+6 . GCS go 40+ 6
Risca , Holman , Wigg ,sheer , Leslie
1 Rookie B spot vacate ( 3spots)
Dawson , Heron .

Looking at list spot Vacant I doubt GCS would trade 2 pick for 1 .
Carlton need to find somebody that only have 3 vacant Senior list spot but have multiple pick to trade .

Dwayne & Gerard almost saying Carlton entertained Rozee & Luko recently trying to woo them both. Like we didn’t even exist with picks 2 & 3....
There’s no doubt everyone Vic is painting this doom & gloom scenario with us. I expect clubs to do the same.

Article or video on Channel 7 news stating that Carton are looking at trading pick 1 for 3 and 6, to take Lukosius and Rozee. One of them is 100% getting picked up by us with 1 and 2 along with Walsh lol. Just hope if Carlton holds into 1 they don’t take Lukosius

I along with most on here have been very anti taking the King brothers... but if we take Luko and Rankine/Rozee with 2 and 3 and then the Saints take Smith instead of Max King.. expect Port to take the other SA kid that we didn't take at 3 and I think we should take one of the Kings...
Lets face it Sam Day is never going to be a great player... Wright could and should be and then what else is there as a KPF...
These King boys look coordinated and athletic which is rare at 6ft 8... they may take a year or two or three to come into their own but we arent trying to win a premiership next year.. beside Luko, Rankine, maybe a mclennan and O Halloran later in the 20's will all play lots of senior footy next year along with Brodie, Bowes, Ainsworth and hopefully Will Powell. . With all the mature bodies we have brought in also, we can afford to wait a year or so for Max King to come in and ****'n brain them...
I like to look at a glass half full approach, things can turn around very quickly..
Challenging for the 8 in 2020 with two more top 5 picks on board by then..
I really support all the moves, next year could be messy but I remember GWS were atrocious for a couple of years because they had the correct long term view..
