The carlton board seem to think a pick 1 for 3 and 6 is possible. Is this a possibility , it is a massive rip off if that is the case. I assume just delusional Carlton supporters.
I think with the noise from the club rating Caldwell so highly we’d be happier taking 3 in the top 10 than just Walsh and Luko, but in saying that, if the club rates Walsh as highly as they look like they do then i’d be happy with it - as long as we got something else back

Living in Melbourne you hear the lot of the scuttle about Carlton wanting to trade pick 1 for 3 & 6. I can't see any reason to do this what so ever. Keep 2 & 3, I would think about trading 6 out slightly so we can have a look at Caldwell at 8/9/10 and then get a pick in the late teens as well.

It’s a mixed bag of some that think we will and others that just laugh. It would be seriously stupid to give up 2 elite picks for 1

According to this article on AFL, sounds like the Suns are ruling out a combination of picks 2,3&6 to trade up to pick 1.

"Cameron is guarded about his club's intentions, but said the likely price tag of two of the Suns' early picks in return for No.1 would be too steep to consider."

They may have been searching for a sizeable offer for either pick 2 or 3 to help facilitate a trade for pick 1. As it stands, looks unlikely.

FORMER Saint Nathan Freeman will undergo a medical with Gold Coast, with the Suns weighing up whether to sign the luckless midfielder as a delisted free agent.

Freeman was flown up to Queensland and was taken through the club by Suns management on Monday.

Suns list manager Craig Cameron confirmed the club's interest in Freeman.

"We have been having a talk to Nathan; he has come up and had a look at the facilities. Like many clubs we would like to add some pace, and Nathan has that," Cameron told The Age.

"He will have a medical ... clearly it is well known he has had problems over his time in the AFL system, but he also played a lot of football this year in the VFL and then the two AFL games at the end of the season."

Originally drafted to Collingwood with pick No.10 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft, he was traded to St Kilda at the end of 2015 despite his persistent hamstring injuries and never playing a senior game.

He battled through multiple hamstring injuries at both clubs, and an AC joint injury halted his VFL campaign earlier in 2018.

Freeman finally made his AFL debut in round 20 for the Saints, but managed just one other game before he was delisted at the end of the season.

It has also been reported the Suns have interest in hard-working Magpie Josh Smith, who can play at half-back or half-forward and is regarded as a very disciplined player.

The second list lodgment, before the upcoming NAB AFL Drafts, deadline is on Friday.

St Kilda delisting him came as a surprise to everyone. They pay him all that money, then he finally gets his body right and then bam. He hasn't had it easy. I think he could be of good use if his body is right. Suns obviously see something in him that he has some potential.

If you are picking Rozee and Hately at 3 and 6 you are overpaying, based on general public draft perception.

There would be merit in downgrading slightly those picks to nab another pick at 15/16 from an SA team.

Pick 3 if you can get St Kilda or Port to cough up for Rankine, doubt Rozee realistically falls past Bulldogs and maybe not even past Port.

Pick 6, I'd be concerned about Adelaide taking Hately at 8.

Just a little thought experiment, doubt it would happen in reality, but, would you choose:

A. Luko, Rankine and Rozee like Road to the Draft's mock draft.

B. Trade pick 3 to Adelaide for their three first rounders, take Luko, Rozee, Caldwell, Hately/Duursma (depending who lasts to 13) and McLennan.

'A' for me - can still get McLennen with a shuffling/upgrading of the later picks.
Would mean drafting 4 rather than 5 though.
Is this a reason why Suns continue to look into delisted free agents ???

I think Lukosius and Rankine then trade down pick 6... stuff the SA clubs. Trade 6, 24 and 29 for 8, 13 and 16 from Adelaide if we can
