I don't understand how 17 year olds can come out and say
"Don't draft me, I want to stay in SA / VIC / WA and I will go home at the earliest opportunity"

These guys are still in high school, vast majority never lived out of home.
How can they be so closed minded - they might love it.

Stephen Curry said don't draft me to the Warriors and they picked him.. best player in franchise history now (not counting Wilt)

Spoon is ours if we draft 6 18 yo and lose a couple of senior players next season.

Finishing 14th - 17th has been so much more fun than getting the spoon. Some of these so called "senior" players have been taking the piss for years.

Build the right way for long term sustained success (e.g. Swans), could not give a **** about how bad we have to get to get over the next few years to get this right once and for all.

If i were in charge of recruiting Top pick gets best available midfielder.
Every other pick gets best available forward the sooner sexton, macpherson, holman etc are replaced with guys that are natural forwards rather than midfielders made to play forward the better.
Millions of mids on the list already, sure they mightn't all be top grade mids but at least we have some, unlike forwards.

We don't even have Much in terms of B grade mids

I think high-end mids with 2 & 3 are the way + Bailey Scott to go and then a couple of forwards with the WCE and later pick, and possible a rookie pick for a specialist small forward

Couldn’t disagree more , we are on a vicious cycle atm , we lose 2-3 senior players every year , last year lost Ablett and Saad this year Lynch and Hall next year May and ?? We replace these players with 18 yo , I’d say we use pick 2,3 plus Scott , that’s the elite talent , use other draft picks on the likes of Lloyd , Newman etc

Interesting to see Walsh in number 1. I seem to recall everyone saying I was crazy for touting him as a potential number one earlier in the year.
He is selected in AA U18 , that is more important , people watched more U18 than you and Me . These people actually talk to club Recruiter , please stop being a know it all , what wrong with you that keep telling everybody wrong and you are right all the time .

* If you look back all your post how many times you telling people they are wrong.
You are all over place. I said Bailey Scott wasn't in any phantom drafts I'd seen and that he should be because he's that good. He deserved All Australian selection and that proves my point. Not sure what your point is.

Think Walsh needs to be our No.1 Target. Can play inside or outside mid, racks up possessions, good user of the footy, Vic Country and Geelong Falcons captain for the leadership, and has already stated he'd be happy to move up north after being a big Lions fan. Huge tick of approval.

Expect we probably end up with pick 2 and 3. Would expect us to take 2 out of Walsh, Lukosius, Rankine, Smith and Ben King. depending on who Carlton take at 1

It's all a matter of degrees - I don't need 6 kids and would prefer senior players but the only player linked to us worthy of what is likely to be 5-6 top 30 picks is Lloyd

I'd be happy with Lloyd, Newman, Thomas + 3 top 20 draftees + Scott & Graham

That's about the best we could hope for + maybe a wallis or dahlhaus

If that was our trade period I would be over the moon tbh.

Starting to think about what id like in the draft. We need to go hard at mids who are high accumulators, powerful or beast inside players with all of the above. High football IQ is a must. I'm not as high on Lukosius as others but I do rate him highly. I find it near impossible that Carlton pass on him anyway. They'll love the big name number one pick, SOS loves that shit he's a basic thinking recruiter.

I'm gonna make some preferences/predictions based off us finishing second last and getting a pick after our first for Lynch.

2 - Sam Walsh
3 - Bailey Smith
14 - Riley Collier-Dawkins
25 - Bailey Scott (GC Academy)
30 - Caleb Graham (GC Academy)

Thats a very very good haul and your future midfield set - I like it

Also saw on the Scandals and Rumours board, the rumour that Weitering is coming up to us.

I reckon there is a 0% chance of that happening.
His manager Liam Pickering has said a few times on his radio show in Melbourne early in the year that he wasn't happy about his client Weitering not getting a game and said a few clubs had approached him

Jake Lloyd 15 disposals in the first quarter 5 contested at 73% 2 clearances 3 marks 3 rebounds 50s

Teaming up very well with McVeigh both could be at Suns next year

Let's be honest - most of these things will probably happen. Brisbane will most likely jump us on the ladder this week so I expect us to end up with picks 2 and 3 due to Lynch likely leaving. I'm confident Carlton will draft Lukosius which leaves two outstanding mids in Walsh and Rankine ripe for our picking. At this stage, it's looking like Bailey Scott won't be drafted in the top 20 so we should be able to use the pick we received from West Coast to secure another player in the top 15 before using a second rounder or two we've stockpiled up to match a bid on Bailey Scott. We can then use our later picks to secure Graham and possibly Koenen to boost our tall stocks for the future.

Presuming Lynch nominates Collingwood, we'll do a nice little deal for Josh Thomas where we pick him up for just about nothing and it won't affect our compensation for Lynch. We're also a good chance to secure Jake Lloyd because Sydney's salary cap is stretched, especially with the impending arrival of Darcy Moore and we're willing to pay Lloyd more than his market worth. What will we have to give up for Lloyd? Perhaps an early second rounder? We've got a few to play with this year so it won't be a big issue. Not sure about Newman but I imagine it won't be that difficult to secure him.

Am I way off the mark? I feel like most the things I just typed are likely to occur.

On the mark. Only I think Carlton will go for Walsh.
