Let's be honest - most of these things will probably happen. Brisbane will most likely jump us on the ladder this week so I expect us to end up with picks 2 and 3 due to Lynch likely leaving. I'm confident Carlton will draft Lukosius which leaves two outstanding mids in Walsh and Rankine ripe for our picking. At this stage, it's looking like Bailey Scott won't be drafted in the top 20 so we should be able to use the pick we received from West Coast to secure another player in the top 15 before using a second rounder or two we've stockpiled up to match a bid on Bailey Scott. We can then use our later picks to secure Graham and possibly Koenen to boost our tall stocks for the future.

Presuming Lynch nominates Collingwood, we'll do a nice little deal for Josh Thomas where we pick him up for just about nothing and it won't affect our compensation for Lynch. We're also a good chance to secure Jake Lloyd because Sydney's salary cap is stretched, especially with the impending arrival of Darcy Moore and we're willing to pay Lloyd more than his market worth. What will we have to give up for Lloyd? Perhaps an early second rounder? We've got a few to play with this year so it won't be a big issue. Not sure about Newman but I imagine it won't be that difficult to secure him.

Am I way off the mark? I feel like most the things I just typed are likely to occur.
Agree except for Thomas. He could win a premiership this year. Why would he come to us?

My thoughts exactly, would be a great addition and could get him pretty cheaply but we'd really have to sell the long term plan and strategy going forward for the club to get him across the line.

Finishing 14th - 17th has been so much more fun than getting the spoon. Some of these so called "senior" players have been taking the piss for years.

Build the right way for long term sustained success (e.g. Swans), could not give a **** about how bad we have to get to get over the next few years to get this right once and for all.
I got a bad feeling GC will do the unthinkable and Draft the king Twins .
Max king
Ben King
Bailey Scott
Llyod,Newman ( traded Essendon and Geelong second Rd )
Third Rd
Academy players .

I had in my head somewhere that GC had enquired about Thomas previously and been told that despite being a Queenslander he wasn't at all interested in returning. does that ring any bells for anyone? or am I imagining it? or confusing him with someone else?

I'm not sure if he has turned us down since, but he was quite keen to play in Melbourne during the VFL TAC year and didn't want to take a year break in football. So he went straight down to get drafted.

We can offer him more midfield time and a stackload of more cash probably, but that's it. I hope we can entice him.

Thomas could be the next Queenslander version of Ablett /Campbell brown .

NOoooooooooooo!!!!!

Will sign Dew’s death warrant and set the club back another 3 years it takes them to develop.

Others will also leave due to the continued gaping holes in our midfield. Need to give the existing players some hope improvement is coming soon.

I'm not against drafting the King brothers.

Assuming Lynch goes and Leslie goes (likely given he's not regulary given a game and is out of contract), who are our depth players in the key posts?

Down back we have Rory, May, and...? Spencer? We have no key position defenders really. Spencer isn't that type. Jaska isn't either.

Up forward we have Day, Crossley and 2MP? Two of which have yet to really show anything?

Getting the King brothers at either end shores us up in regards to depth. If we lose many of our current key position crop for any period of time (which is gonna happen given our history) we won't have any talls left to play.

Jake Lloyd had 33 touches last night and not a single one of them led to a score, Jack (10% TOG), Rampe (15 touches) and Blicavs (8 touches) were the only other players not to get a score involvement.

:/

I tend to agree.....Lloyd is great for Supercoach but not sure he is the type of player we need atm....

I don't want to come across as being too pessimistic about him. He's good at what he does, taking the worst forward which enables him to play much more loose and hit short kicks well. But if we're offering a stack of cash for this guy thinking he's going to be running and slicing out of the defensive 50 we're going to be pretty disappointed I think. I just don't think he would be the same in our structure.

So in other words defenders that played deep didn't have a score involvement. That's not unusual. His field kicking is great and that's what we need. Big tick.

Big No to them as well. Best midfielders available early.

Why not drafted mature age in Rookie Draft under one years contract . I get your worried let not make ourselves a fool if best 22 KPP injured do you think Max and Ben king got the body to compete in AFL environment .

Graham and Koenan will boost tall stock. They will probably take the same time to develop as King brothers who are 20 kg less what they ultimately should be. Lukosius who is much more ready and can play anywhere is much better choice if we can get him.

Interesting point. I do recall reading this: https://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader...s/news-story/f9ae7febf3cfec17f7fab7cb572b5974

SAM COLLINS (24, WERRIBEE)
Surprisingly delisted by Fremantle after 14 games in two years, Box Hill Hawks product Collins is giving the Tigers a superb season as the bulwark of their backline. After Round 11 the key defender led the league in marks (94 from his nine matches, 22 more than next best Marty Hore of Collingwood) and contested marks (34). His training standards and leadership are also exemplary, Werribee coach Johnny Lamont says. Collins trained with St Kilda at the end of last season. The Saints had a good look, only to pass. But there is renewed interest in him. It’s reasonable to assume Gold Coast Suns coach Stuart Dew was at the Frankston-Werribee game last Sunday not to check out the sweeping bay views from the Frankston grandstand, but to put glims on Collins.

But yet both 7 and fox gave him votes for best on ground as did the radio station that did the game.
He is just what we need

Apparently Alex Rance didn't kick a goal last week. Must not being doing his job, don't want him ;)

Yeah he's overrated.
If he doesn't kick at least 3 goals tonight and keep walker and Jenkins goalless I'd drop him next week ;)
