Who will you target from their list that will like to come and help GC ( Willing to come) ,current they have pick 8 and pick 12.
Any names (please don't say Cameron Ellis-Yoelman)?
Obviously their first team talent would be somewhat untouchable. Although I'd love Rory laird. Crouch brothers- signed and untouchable. Atkins would have potential, Sloane would be great but appears that if he leaves he's off to a
Melbourne based club, although that opens up a potential 3 way trade. If they want the pick bad enough they're the ones that need to make it happen

I highly doubt you would get #1 even if you asked for it, the Crows would trump that deal in seconds given they want Lukosious.

In fact I am struggling to see how two players with only 10 senior games between them is worth two top 10 picks as well.

I accept that supporters will over-rate their players somewhat but these seem rather unrealistic to me.
Well i’ll Ask what you’d expect us to have to give up if we asked for Weitering and McKay? I’m guessing you would want pick 2 or 3. Brodie has played well in the seniors when called up and has developed his inside game in the NEAFL for a season, Scrimshaw was always going to be a long term pick. Pick 1 for 2016 picks 6 and 9 under contract is a fair ask.

Based on output to date, I am sceptical on whether 2 or 3 would be a fair exchange, I think it may be a little less than that actually.

The price to pay would be based on potential only as both have delivered limited form in matches even though Weitering had a very good first season.

Thats what I mean though. If we asked for both from Carlton they would demand pick 2 - despite both having more time to develop than Scrim and Brodie and Weitering getting worse each season. appropriate value would be 3 - 5, but you have pick 1 so that's what i'd expect us to ask for

No way I would trade Brodie and Scrimshaw for pick 1 :-) Probably not even one of them for pick 1. Both have potential to be guns. GC did hard yards with both of them and now they are not far off and should play and be in best 22 next year. So their value is actually higher than at draft time. To trade them for 1 player who again will take several years to develop seems **** to me. Lukosius looks like a great talent but he may end up like Weitering at the moment or does ACL. Please GC, get best players at picks 2 and 3 (Lukosius, Walsh, Smith, Rankine). Also no A player will join us so all these trades scenarios including star players are waste of time and pie in the sky.

I am sure Carlton fans would go crazy if we would offer 2nd round picks for McKay and Weitering (as I have seen some Carlton fans were suggesting for Brodie) even though that's probably their performance based value at the moment.

Look like Dew like his new Toys as well . Aaron Young in the background . o_O

If Brodie & Scrimshaw were to be traded, as a hypothetical, what would you suggest the trade price would be ??

very difficult one.

GC fans: "we spent two top 10 picks on these kids and have put in 2yrs of development"

Carlton fans: "Brodie cant even make your best 22 despite your team getting killed in the midfield each week. Scrimshaw is a project player that may or may not make it"

one of those situations where Carlton would refuse to give up anything of significant value and GC would not want to trade without getting overs.

So no trade will get done this year given both are under contract. Next year is a diff story though.

Next year they are still under contract and they will be playing.

correct. after all the discussion was about what they would net you in a trade. so the presumption was in the circumstance they wanted to leave.

of course, if they wanted to stay, this discussion is moot.
Exactly, I don't see any indication they want to leave. Except some Carlton fan talking about Brodie being nephew of Carlton list manager. Just waste of time at the moment. The only thing I saw today was Brodie's interview after North game and he seems happy. I actually prefer young players to deserve games than just to play them for the sake of playing.

"deserve games" is an interesting concept.

Most new draftees dont deserve games, but bottom teams commit to playing them for the good of their development. Doesnt mean they cant develop playing in the 2s, and certainly there are plenty of examples where this has happened but watching Brodie on the weekend it boggles my mind that he's only played 6 games.

In contrast, Zac Fisher who weighed about 60kg and looked like a yr 10 student last yr (and this yr actually) has played over 30 games and has made a big leap this yr in large part thanks to being played and developed in the seniors. id say most would argue he didnt "deserve" games last yr.

Same with Hunter Clark, looked all at sea early in the season. But Saints persisted with him and he's now showing some nice development. Already played 12 games.

Brodie did not have tank and had no outside game besides his inside quality. Not able to play HB, HF like e.g. Bowes or this year Ballard. On top of that competing with Lyons, Swallow, Miller for 100% inside role.

I asked the same question and still waiting. Also Weitering.
I posted that before reading the thread to the end then deleted when i seen you asked the same thing :thumbsu:

You guys will have Adelaide knocking on your door for #2/#3
There is always a chance if Carlton dont select Lukosius he will be there at #2 with all the KPP Carlton have on the list there is a very good chance they may opt for Walsh.

And if the blues do take Lukosius then the crows just take Rankine with the pick they get from GC

Happy with the Walsh pick

For other picks the other needs I see are:

- midfielders with inside/outside game
- genuine 3rd tall /high half forwards
- forwards with genuine goal kicking ability (all our current small forwards are pressure types that lack innate goal sense)
So far I have
Walsh - Outside/Inside mid
Caldwell - Inside/Outside mid
Jones - Inside mid/utility
McHenry - Small forward/Wingman

A few players still available before pick 37 and it’s a tough choice between a few players

Toby Bedford - Small forward
Riley Bowman - Ruck/key forward
Zane Barzen - Tall Half forward
Jez McLennan - shut down defender
Tom Lewis - Inside mid
James Rowbottom- Inside mid

Looking at what you've got already I'd go Bedford. keep in mind we are likely to want all three of Koenen, Graham and Scott from our academy. the first two of those are KPP so we probably don't need KPP with our earlier picks.

edit:
AFL Draft Central said:
#15 Toby Bedford

When Bedford grips the football, it is not likely a player will bring him to ground. His countless efforts on the contested ball had him take it with ease, showing great agility and control as he passed the ball off to the best option. Despite players hanging off him, he stood his ground and cleaned up the congestion. His ball work was clean, deliberate and effective, often centring the ball and assisting successful link ups through the passage. An instinctive footballer, Bedford showed no trouble beating his opponent on the loose ball and seemed oblivious to pressure. He brought quick hands to everything and remained agile and evasive when it meant feeding off the football. With repeat inside 50s, Bedford had a hand in most goals, directly assisting a couple as well. It’s obvious Dandenong’s midfield would be very different without him gaining the hard ball.
Yes please, where do i sign.
