Agree, we have that covered is spades

Im a little disappointed the Cannon is gone but I supppse he and Matera are the last of the party crew
After 8 years if you haven’t made the best 22 you are probably not in our system.

Anyone like Nick Suban? Could release Stevie May to go on the ball and rove across HB, get more intercepts and possessions.

And what about Lachlan Keeffe? Queenslander and his sister just got drafted by the Lions. Could bolster the ruck stocks with Currie gone.

there is some enormous unlocked potential in these mature delisted guys and we have to be able to get the ones like Micky Barlow that kills himself for the second opportunity

Steven May on ball? Roving hb? He’s one of the best lockdown defenders in the league. Suban is a very ordinary player so I’d say that’s a no as well.

Keeffe a ruckman? God no

May is a great lockdown fullback, and so was Dustin Fletcher. Fletch may have been a dirty player, but he played on the best Forwards of the last 25 years and gave them all bad days. However, Fletcher never had a direct matchup, rather playing as a loose defender. I don't think May should model his game on Fletcher's, but whenever he's free to roam he does his damaging best. Even though I shouldn't say it, the Stefan Martin clothesline was a thing of beauty and I want to see May freed up to attack the ball player more often, especially when he's matched against a weird forward line like Port or Richmond where he just looks second rate.

I also didn't say Keeffe would be contesting for number ruck, I mean it always helps to have a back up when Witts needs a spell. So many games when the momentum turns against the Suns it's because Witts' production goes down. He can be killing it in the hitouts and then run out of steam, then the opponents start to get a roll on with some clearances and we're goorrrrnnn. He is also a Queenslander and you'd imagine that could make up for his stupid life choices.

May was given the loose man in defence role and never really played it that well. He’s a better lock down, he should move back to that role next year.
Keeffe is a horrible ruckman and was moved to a key back and did ok then. Writings on the wall for him and his afl career. If you can’t make it in a team where they are screaming for key defenders you wont make it.

Keeffe signed by the Giants. They will need the back up ruckman/defender. Maybe we dodged a bullet, but I reckon he'd have taken the Suns over the Giants if we'd offered him a place.

Apparently coaches meetings are going super well this week, the new team is very upbeat and fully onboard with new approach and game plan, Mr Dew is apparently full across the DFA targets and draft players and very involved
Here’s hoping the players can actually enact the plan.

I think Tom Ruggles would be a great addition through the rookie draft.

Scotty might know this BODS but I think there may be some sort of "gentlemans" agreement if a club announces they are "re-rookieying" a player then the other clubs don't swoop.......I would defer to a more knowledgable poster though on this

Didn't we commit to picking up henry schade as a rookie but Collingwood swooped in and pinched him last year

Didn’t happen with Schade last year. We stated we would rookie him after delisting, yet Pies swooped.

I do think it was stated we would re-rookie him with our last pick IF nobody else picked him up. Which obviously Collingwood did

The fact they delist them in the first play surely means it's a good idea to go to another club if you can.

Schade was a contracted player that we delisted.
We were going to rookie him b/c we were going to have to pay his contract anyway not b/c we really wanted him.

Ruggles is uncontracted I think, which would be a different case.

To get around the gentlemens agreement, take him with a late pick in the main draft rather than as a rookie. Putting him on the main list shows commitment to the player and the other club has to concede.

Then again, as delisted player, that could be done now I guess.

What makes you think Suban is a KPD? He isnt even a defender..

Gentlemans agreement seems to be for injured players only, and even then only if the side selects with one of their early rookie draft picks.

Swooped? You guys already used all your live picks before we selected him...
