Saints had a nibble at Hall last trades period but nothing eventuated.

Maybe the plan is Hall for Mav Weller this year. Lolz

A talented dud for just a plain dud

Southport may be interested in Mav's services

Is he that bad , I hardly watch St Kilda but every time I watch him play his decision making was shocking.

Also really hoping we have a crack at De Goey. Seems like the sort that might benefit from, and want to be away from the Melbourne football scene. bit more anonymity, he's young, talented, and fills positions we need covered - ie. hard edged inside midfielders who can rotate half-forward and kick goals. Could go Lynch and a second/third round pick for Degoey and a first if Lynch does opt to leave for Collingwood.
He wants out of the Melbourne scene so he can play up and not have the football world watching his every move. He would get up to a bit of trouble up here I think

That was the knock on him while he was here - kicked the ball OOTF more than Prestia and he only got half the touches

The only way to fix this is play him as a pressure forward and limited his assists , but GC already got Holman , Sexton and young .

I hope we do. We lack class at the contest and he has it. If we can overlook Harbs .05 incident at 28, we can surely give a kid a break at 21 for the same thing.

Again no harm give him an offer , but I don't expect him to come as he is playing good footy with Collingwood.

The only way to fix this is to not select him - he's cooked
Yah no point getting him just because his younger brother is in the team , I would rather invest time on academy players like Dawson .

I'm interested on other's opinions what you might think our list deficiency actually is? I kind of starts there, and then you go hunting for that type of player.
For me, I think we're sweet on key positions. It's probably one more prime/mature inside mid, and probably 2 more outside midfielders.

I base this on what I think is our weakness through the depth of our midfield. Our DE has been historically near the bottom, and tells me we got ordinary skills, so a couple of decent outside mids. Gaff certainly fits that, Zach Merrett as well, De Goey even to a lesser extent. With JDG he will probably look to move on, as there are too many Collingwood mids to break into that rotation consistently. I doubt he has happy as a forward pocket and sometimes onballer, and I believe wants to be a fulltime mid but its hard to break into Pendles, Treloar, Sidebottom, Adams rotation.

We should have a far bit of cap room, because lets face it we don't have superstars on our list taking a crazy amount of coin. We can all worry that this will push out the draftees of 2016, but again they are not exactly getting a game consistently and taking the competition by storm so how much could those possibly command. It's not the year 2012 where the inaugural players were superstars on the gold coast getting stupidly overpaid, and filling up their noses (McKenzie, Bennell, Matera, CBrown, etc...)

Agree, key position is sorted, wouldn't take a KPP unless the quality of the KPP is top echelon ajd the smaller players are so so, so maybe only top pick.

I think our inside mids are fine decent depth, Brodie cant get a game, Scheer was recruited as one too and the ones in the 22 aren't too old. Sure thers no megastar but each team only has a few megastars, cant have one in every line

I think our ourside mids need beefing so up a Gaff type would be brilliant, but also unattainable. Id really like the club to have a look at say a Brandon ellis, shown he can play in his earlier seasons, outside endurance runner that was made to play inside at the tigers, then a back flank now VFL. Whoever you target two biggest things you'd be looking for are ball use and endurance

Other than that I think the focus should be on forwards (specifically forwards, not mids who 'can play forward'), we've seen this year we have little to no depth in the forward line, especially for the smaller blokes, ainsworth (played mid on the weekend), ah chee (played defence on the weekend), mcphersons had a run there this year but is really an undersized inside mid, sexton is pretty much a jack of all trades, never going to have a 35+ goal season. Jack Martin could but surely he's more valuable than that up the field. After that you are pretty much down to 2017 intake and mids playing out of position in the forward line.
My other team west coast used all our(suns) picks to basically recruit what they hope will be their future proofed forward line last year (Ryan, Brander, Oscar Allen, Petrucelle. plus Waterman and Rioli late in the 2016 draft). I'd love to see us do the same, the troops we have across the rest of the field will be good enough keeping in mid we have plenty of high draft picks who are still developing so improvement will come. But Ainsworth (Crossley?) are the only real forwards in that group.

I think GC fan need to be patient , Powell just signed an extension to 2021 , Ballard and Crossley just debut last week . Ellis will be good to get and Gaff and other will be a dream if they want to come , hopefully the recruiter team look hard enough to find somebody like Tim Kelly,Luke Ryan , Flitsch, zac langdon, Liam Ryan , Willie Rioli in the state league . Is pretty hard if players don't want to come and the only way is look at the state league .

If we are rebuilding with youth.

Play Aaron hall this year.
Let him get his 25touches and a goal a game. With no tackles

Then come end of year we can trade him away for some currency.

Something GoldCoast has only ever done twice.
Prestia and Dixon.

Someone would pay up nicely for aaron halls attacking mindset.

I know it's not really viable as the dude seems loyal to a fault but given the way Dewy likes us to play I would be throwing a healthy contract at Anthony McDonald Tipungwuti. I just think the.way he gets from contest to contest and pressures like a maniac then compliments it with awesome speed and skills is just invaluable. Dude can have 10 touches but an immense impact. It's a shame he seems like such a nice guy and despite Essendon being a basket case he will remain loyal I think. Especially because they nurtured him through their VFL to the AFL list. God I'd love to have him as a pressure forward in our new gameplan though.

Caleb Graham
Key Position Forward/Defender | Palm Beach Currumbin/Gold Coast Academy
12/09/2000 | 194cm | 84kg

A bit of a roughie coming into the Under 18 Academy Series, Graham has been one of the better performing Queenslanders throughout the series. He can play at either end, and booted six goals on the weekend to continue his wonderful form as a centre-half back who has become renowned for his intercept marking. At 194cm he is a genuine key position player, and not a beanpole like many at this level, therefore he could be a “one to watch” from the development perspective, particularly for Gold Coast fans

Been through last year with his rubbish and we couldn't get the trade done for him.

Can't build the strong culture that Dew wants with the shit that Hall dishes up.

If we have some injuries towards the end of the year I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a run for the last month to fatten up his value, but not if it's keeping a good kid who is ready and deserves it out of the team.

Tipungwuti is one my favourite players to watch outside of the SUNS, his speed and pressure is awesome to watch. I have to agree he seems like the loyal type and will probably stick with the Dons

Not for me .Having a very poor season would be on the verge of being dropped.
Will be 26 yrs old next season and basically a one position player.
Certainly wouldn't being paying big money.

I couldn’t agree more with you regarding Hall I hope he sits in the NEAFL all year!! After listening to May on fox footy last night sounds like Hall will maybe come in this week unfortunately

Yeah surprised he hasn’t been dropped yet. Probably says a lot about how the whole team is going
