To be honest I rather draft academy players and get trashed in NEAFl than Mills type . Why keep doing the same thing over and over again hoping something different .
That doesn't address the team's current needs though. You have said before you'd rather some Academy players get cut loose in the QAFL and signed later, Zorko style. You need to be consistent. I like a lot of what you say, but it is getting pretty loose from you.

Thanks , I think Dew dropping Lyons and not playing Barlow is an indication he is not just looking at possession and bigger body type but decision making and a lot more . Dusty hurt factor 20 possession game is very different from Mills or Conca , Richmond miss his class , and Young Graham , prestia .

Richmond tonight was missing Houli , Martin , Rioli , Graham , Prestia thats a fair bit of talent that we missed from the starting 22 in a game away from home and alot was left to Miles & Conca to be the main players in the engine room with Cotchin being heavily tagged. Apart from a 5 mins in the 3rd quarter Port kicked 5 goals the game i believe we would have won but with 3 starting mids out its hard to judge Miles & Conca.

Also Conca is a free agent and wont require a trade probably only 2 year deal would get him on low coin
Miles would also be cheap trade and dollars

If you going to get more young and Holman type might as well do all local .how many spot you need to delist ?
Excluding Hall and Lynch going ?
I had Reserve 2 spot for Graham (sexton)and Koenan (Nicholls) .
You need to delist or let go of players and bring somebody in . Right now you want to keep players yet want to draft and trade in .

Crotchin & Mills - Loving your work

You are actually onto something though, GC could do alot worse than Offer Cotchin a good deal,Stranger things have happened and Richmond did trade Deledio who was an Icon at the club
GC still need to delist a few players in order to let Conca and Mills type in , if the current GC list don't have Young, holman and Wigg then will be an easy decision .
Pick 4 - Lynch
Pick 5- Barlow
Pick 18 bailey Scott - Rosa
Pick 25 - Lonergan
Pick 32 - Leslie /Risca
Pick 40- ? Alex sexton ( Graham - GC sun academy)
Pick 42 - ? Tom Nicholls (Koenan - GC sun academy )
Maybe addition pick 47 if bid come early for Bailey Scott .

His name is Miles for Christ's sake.
I wanted Miles last year, think we missed a good thing not getting him then. still think hes a good get now.
Nichols is contracted and our ruck depth would be too shallow without him. I wouldn't want a situation where I was going into a game with crossley (too short, too young) or Wright (to valuable elsewhere) as my number one ruck

So who you going to let go then , wigg contracted , Young contracted, holman rookie list . Give me the number .whoever sake Miles you want to go with . Check GC list , if last year GC don't want him what make you think this year they do , as for Nicholls I just put an example ,if you want Draftees in you need to delist .

Suns still have a spare spot on rookie list plus delist/trade Lonergan, Willis, Rosa, Barlow and Hall.

Scott may choose Cats/North.

Young, Holman, Wigg, Sexton, Nicholls still on the list next year.

It would not surprise me if Rischitelli is still on the list next year too :)

I think Leslie will come out good in next 4-6 games.

Thanks , that's what I am thinking about Risca too. End of the year whether Miles come in or not Cameron got a tough decision to make. As for Leslie KPP , I hope you are right as it take time to develop them , don't want to let him go and he become decent player for other club . The ideal situation Graham and koenan on rookie or rookie b list.

Forget Crotchin :) Suns should get Powell-Pepper. What a fantastic job he did on Cotchin as a loose tagger. Compare their numbers. And only 2nd year player, pick 18!

Do you think Lyons will extend his contract how many years left in his current one. I think Carlton will be sneaking around if he do not signed on .
The current midfield group are actually quite decent
1) Swallow
2) Ainsworth
3) Miller
4) Florini
5) Lyons

I believe Lyons is contracted until the end of 2019. I think he will come out good from his NEAFL experience. His form did drop starting WB game so fair point to send him to NEAFL. He was very ordinary against Sharks, probably struggling with demotion. Let's see in 2 hours :) I am very happy for Brodie to get opportunity instead of him. It was interesting to hear Dew in his presser that both Brodie and Lyons can co-exist on the same team. But Dew wants Lyons to dominate in NEAFL first. On separate note, Dew considers playing 3 talls highly unlikely. So not Day, Wright, Lynch together.

For the first time in the Allies’ three years in the competition, they have started their campaign with a win.

Allies 1.1 4.4 6.5 10.11 (71)
Victoria Country 3.4 4.6 6.7 6.12 (48)

GOALS
Allies: Briggs 3, Jones 2, Scott 2, Green, Peatling, Turner
Vic Country: Flanders 2, Garoni 2, Caldwell, Williams

BEST
Allies: Jones, Briggs, McGuinness, Green, Tomkinson, Baker
Vic Country: Walsh, Reid, Brownless, Serong, Idun, Fletcher

Suns Academy Allies players all playing down back except for Scott. Would like to read an article that talks about the actual players who helped win the game, such as the defenders who made such a low offensive score a winning margin.

I doubt scott will choose the suns based on our current performance.

Whats Dave Swallow worth on the market this year?
26 by the end of the year.
Well beaten body.
knee issue wont see him go much further then another 4 seasons.

Is it worth holding onto him and running him into the ground for continuous bottom of the ladder finishes.

I know he is the heart and soul of the club.. but do you try see if you can offload him to WA for a first rd pick?

And rebuild further.
Hoping a midfield of fiorini Ainsworth miller brodie scheer bowes etc can lift the club

Plus the future recruits

Sometimes you need to go backwards to go forwards.

But. If he wants to be a 1 club player. He is more then welcome.
Just starting to feel sorry for the bloke.
Trys his guts out for no success

I dont think he is worth a 1st round pick. TBH i dont think he is worth anything. More value to us as a battering ram.

With the exception of martin, ainsworth, Miller, witts, may, wright and bowes we should trade anyone that a club is willing to give up this years 1st round pick for. Then draft all these guns kids in this years draft and try a gws style list build.

No ****ing way so we trade him out - the problem with the initial list build is that we didn't get the good honest soldiers that GWS got to help show the young kids the way.

It's abundantly clear we need a full rebuild and the sooner the club can be clear in it's direction the better for all concerned.

We need to work out who are the high character senior guys that are settled on the Coast and are prepared to commit long term, even though they may just laying the ground work for success, and not actually be the beneficiary of that success (ala Roger Merrett).

Blokes like Swallow, May and Lyons would be the prime candidates to lead the kids with support from Harbs and Hanley for the next couple of years until the next wave of leaders like Miller and 2MP are ready to shoulder more of the load.

If May wanted to leave given the rebuild either get 2 first rd picks for him year or wait until he is a FA next year and get compo which would likely result in us having 2 top 3 picks. Swallow, Lyons, Harbs and Hanley wouldn't be worth trading.

If Lynch, Hall and a few others end up leaving we should definitely be hitting the AFL up for a priority pick - #1 overall to get rebuild started. Likely give us 3 top 5 picks in a strong draft and starts to give this club a 2nd chance to make up for the poor admin and facilities we were given to start off with.

I know it is an excuse to go with our hand out to the AFL but the Swans got advantages for years with COLA and GWS with their concessions so it is not unprecedented to get preferential treatment to equalise the competition.

Valid point also

I don’t see May leaving especially being captain he reminds me of Nathan Jones and being from nt there’s no go home pull for him
