Aaron hall out for the season.
Did peanuts this year..
Wants out of the club.
Wouldnt expect a pick inside of 35 :(

I know :weary: Spewing he went down injured and didn't get one last good year and run with us it's going to be sad seeing him go for a late second rounder or early third rounder.

In my opinion he is worth so much more than that.

I reckon a premiership contender would give up a good pick for him.

Even north Melbourne with ziebell now playing more time forward

Gold Coast dont/shouldnt want Gaff. if he were to go to GC he'd be undisputed #1 mid, and as a pretty much exclusively outside player who has historically struggled when a shutdown player sits on him all game, hed expect to cop that every week.
If you want a big name FA mid, it needs to be a primarily inside option as they are much harder to curtail with a TAG, as anyone that comes will cop that attention every week. Wines would have been perfect.

I hope Gaff stays with WC, but if he leaves it will be to a Melbourne side where he is #2/3 mid, and can sit on a wing and collect his 30+ touches a week while the defensive players go elsewhere (if they could afford him Hawks would be about perfect)

Couldn’t do any worse that’s a guarantee.
Clayton do a good job with draft pick last year , but his trade are pretty ordinary . Holman rookie pick justified , Wigg 50/50 ( injuries ) , Young (my bias opinion bad trade ) .

I've done a full recap on history at Melbourne and Richmond - in summary 15 years of shite work
One thing he would have done at GWS is extract value out of players leaving. GWS always seemed to trade players out where we were just de-listing them.

Also he doesn't have the Clayton background of asking around after the Weller deal to other clubs if the deal we made was good? Like honestly, what professional does that?

Tape, Russell, Shaw were list cloggers for 6-7 years and none of them were close to being good AFL players.
He simply hoarded players for too long and refusedcto admit he got it wrong. He still thinks Jarrod Grant is the next Carey.
He missed out on Wigg 3 years ago and still had to have him despite exposed form & Crows going to delist him.

Whilst I agree Clayton was terrible at his job, young and Wigg came here for next to nothing in trade value . Whether you believe Young belongs on our afl side or not, bringing him here cost us a pick we weren't going to use at the draft, it was a good trade, in our favour.

I think wigg is unfairly being criticised, he has had a terrible run with injuries since being here! Give the bloke a chance I reckon he would currently be in our best 22 if he was fit from what I’ve seen of him in the SANFL last year, he is an elite kick which will really suit dews game style imo especially if we end up loosing Kolo to these concussions

How stupid is it to give up a fourth rounder ( for Port list cloggesr) to filled a list spot ( delisted canoon,traded ablett , Saad ) and then left without list spot for multiple second Rounder and use that as an excuses to trade second Round to Eagles .
Quality player like impey cost you second Round . ( Pick 33) .Even Port know that

I can't believe people think that given up multiple pick 20-38 including a future second round and use the vacant list spot for Young was a good thing .

The knock on him was his lack of defensive pressure and lack of speed. Elite kick certainly. He’s not a mid though who we desperately require but another half back flanker who we seem to have plenty of. He was going to be delisted and a DFA. This trade confused me.

Gary Ablett (trd) ------> (Weller )
Keegan Brooksby (del)
Daniel Currie (del)------- (Crossley excellent pick up )
Ryan Davis (del)----- ( great pick up Holman)
Jarrad Grant (del)----------( Great pick Nutting but could be rookie list )
Mitch Hallahan (del) ------- Wigg or second Rounder ( Clayton choose Wigg)
Cameron Loersch (del)
Brandon Matera (trd) --------> Powell
Trent McKenzie (DFA)---------> Young / second Rounder- Clayton choose Young
Adam Saad (trd)------------> Ballard
Matt Shaw (del) ----------> Jaska
Mackenzie Willis (del) --- rerookie and out of the season .

Quality player like Impey? you kidding right? on displayed form at end of last year i would have said there was little to no difference between Impey and Young. neither were really established 'Quality Players'. Their pre-2018 stats are pretty comparable, the only reason Impey would have cost more is he was only 22, while Young was 24/5? Impey has improved markedly this year, if you only take into consideration stats. (I haven't watched many Hawks games)

In my opinion we paid about the right amount, Hawthorn paid a little too much.
