I watched the game too was very impressed with Walsh' skills. Problem is trying to retain the talent long term if he isn't open to playing up in QLD then we would simply be wasting yet another pick. I was impressed with Scott West's son as well smooth mover of the footy. Definitely worth a look if dogs don't have dibs on him.

Walsh has been pretty open to moving north is my understanding as he is a massive Brisbane Lions fan, I’m guessing he would prefer he goes to the lions over suns but at least he is happy to move north

After watching the weekends Metro vs country game if we end up with say pick 2-3 and a compo pick for lynch we need to try and get both Walsh and Smith, would give us the best possible combo of high end talent with both inside and outside class. Both would play round 1 for us and probably be better right now than any of our pure mids on our list. Problem is going to be Brisbane picking Walsh before our pick, really starting to hope they overtake us on the ladder by seasons end

Exactly my thoughts - Those 2 are comfortably the best 2 pure mids and high character guys in the draft (little worried that Smith is Melbourne private school boy but seems dedicated and laser focused so hopefully he is worth a shot)

We will lose to the Lions on current form and with our inferior % we only need the Lions to win 1 more game than us on the run home (i.e. the Lions probably only need to win 1 more game for the year after beating us). Bit worried that we still have to play the Blues up at Metricon so if the Blues are in full tank mode we might be battling to lose that game. Hopefully by then they internally know what Lynch is doing and start giving the kids more opportunities towards the end of the season.

Also thinking that with the Eagles and 2nd rd picks we could be looking at some of the players that hold captaincy roles at their current clubs as shows that they can become invested in their clubs and want to stay and provide leadership - liked the look of Dhursma and O'Hallaran yesterday who fit that criteria.

I’m not overlooking the other states or kids just off one match, I’m talking about using hopefully our 2 top 5 picks on Walsh and Smith as I rate them the 2 best mids this year by a fair way not off one game but off there body of work all year

I will lose sleep if we have 1 of the top 2 picks and we don't select either Lukosius or Walsh as at this stage they are the best 2. In terms of outside the top 10 I like kids from the other states just as much as the Vic kids - particularly Rozee, Valente (SA), Jones (Tas) and English (WA).

Let’s hope St.Kilda are into the King boys like a lot of the media have been reporting and one of smith or Walsh falls to us at 4 if our ladder position doesn’t change.

I hope so , I really like Smith , but if they are not available , I don't mind Hately not as good but more flexible or Tasmania Boy , anyway South Australia vs Allies should be interesting .

Sam Mitchell, Dane Swan , Fyfe and a few more not rated high in their Draft year win Brownlow . Just because we rated players higher do not mean they are better when they come to GC . I don't like to rated player in isolation , eg Allies are the only team that play with so many different state U18 players .
If Smith available I will definitely pick him regardless he is from Vic Metro , if he is not I think Hately ,blakey type is exactly what GC need to allow Martin and ainsworth more time in Midfield .
HF and Forward ,Tagger type current playing for GC I don't rate , Young , Holman , Day, Sexton .
