Sorry mate, but how will Armitage stop that from happening....he's on his way out and I don't think offering him a lifeline will help us one little bit...We already have Barlow and Ritscha for that.

I’m not saying armitage is the answer, I just said that I’m not against picking him up. I watched him over the last couple of weeks and he’s seems to be coming into form. 30 touches and 3 goals isn’t a bad outing this weekend. I’m looking at players that are actually gettable, not pipedreams

I am not against picking him up if AFL extending GC rookie list to 10 instead of 6 excluding B rookie .

Agree, unless we could get A midfielder, forget it. I would be happy if we could convince Thomas who plays forward/midfield to come home. He has to be on crap salary at Pies.

Think Ainsworth and Brodie could both become A graders still.

Ainsworth forward/mid similar to Zorko and Brodie to be more of a joel selwood type pure mid

I think the strategy is pretty clear but requires a touch of patience.

1. Move on more quickly from players that won't be best 25/26 in a finals contender playing for Dew, open up list spots. Be a bit more ruthless in turning over spots. Pick talent and try and hold on to it, rather than holding onto players who are happy to stay but are most likely not good enough. Don't be afraid of letting go of a player 1 season too soon. Raise the bar a bit on who is actually good enough.
2. Use the rookie list for a couple of mature agers who can play in a pinch but are great off-field. Turn these over every year or two.
3. Get academy players where possible. Draft if good enough, Cat B otherwise. Use them to fill out the list, give them an extra year to show something, but don't be afraid to be ruthless when someone better comes along.
4. Hit the draft for the best inter-state talent, ignoring the go-home factor. Back ourselves in as a club.

Repeat until there is a young core of 10-15 players who are both old enough (21-26) and good enough to play finals and want to play together. Then go overpay for a couple of older B grade recruits with finals experience. Hope there are still some holdovers like Swallow around to fill out the team.

Then go win enough games to play a home final.

Sean Lemmens and Schoenfeld on 3 year deals are the definition of players that are not good enough. Nobody in the competition was offering these blokes comparative long-term deals.

As a result we can't turnover list as quickly as we need to and use all the picks we have to draft players that are better.

Lemmens would fit in at Richmond, small, quick and fantastic pressure player. If we had a better forward line he would look better, but he seems to be the only pure forward who wants to tackle and pressure all game

Thank you very much, he for mine is far too maligned. If his kicking at goal could improve (coaching staff that’s what you are there for) then he’s a gun.

He does stupid things but then again so does the whole team. He might never be a huge goal kicker but he going to create chances for you, and he hurts people when he tackles them. We don't have anyone else like that

Jake Lloyd 67 possessions in the past fortnight against 2 top 4 teams in high pressure games. 14 rebound 50's, kicking at 83%.
After watching the ball exit our defence yesterday I'm staggered some aren't keen on him. It was a comedy act early.

you know that's exactly what WCE fans used to say(and lots still do - morons) about Andrew Gaff.
Others that fit the type are Whitfield and Scully from GWS, as well as Seedsman (Adl) and Smith (Haw).
All of them 90-100% outside players (Gaff gone inside a little this year), all of them elite endurance runners.
If Schoenfeld can put it together, I think his potential value to the side is far higher than Lemmens will ever be. Was always a gamble, as three of five guys mentioned above were taken in the top three of their respective drafts so its clearly an uncommon and sought after type of player.
He seems to have it down at NEAFL level. and I've liked what I've seen at AFL level too so far. those uncontested touches (especially evident in the Hawthorn game) late in quarters will be where his opponent hasn't got the tank to go with him. Gaff/Scully/Whitfield bread and butter.

The Schoen looks a bit one-paced for mine.
Would love to see him develop another gear, hit the lines harder. Play with a bit more force.
If that does not develop, not sure he will make it.

But the club has made the call on him, will be on the list next year.

Lemmens has improved enough this year to be worth more time. Another jump in the next couple of years (decision making, kicking) and he will be good enough for sure.

He just built his body and played only 12 games. I would not give up on him.
