Cant see us getting rid of Nutting, Jaska and Wigg after one season, especially after all 3 have had injury troubles.
Nutting is safe because every ND Draftees come with two years contract .

Finally, a great trade news! :)

Aaron Hall

"AFL.com.au
understands the 27-year-old, who is out of contract at season's end, is yet to be offered a new deal to stay with the Suns."

I am told Riska is getting another year if he wants it which I think he will

Even though Maverick Weller completely torched us and burned his bridge here I think we have to be sensible about him wanting back in, says more about him eating humble pie than us rolling over - Bods talking to you here......….for one he would have to fall on his sword and say nice things about where we are headed in the press if he resigned being the reason he came back

I am meh about him as a player BUT he is a hard body and might get back to his best with his brother around plus he falls into that category of someone wanting to come to us, everyone's first reaction is probably **** him but [perhaps we should think a little bit more laterally about allowing him back and what that would say

Would much rather Scrimshaw take's Rischitelli's role

Hopefully Rischitelli dose the right thing for the team and the clubs future and retires this year.
Give him a job coaching
/mentoring role with the academy or something

Is Hall's time in the Sun running out?
Mitch Cleary

MIDFIELDER Aaron Hall's future with Gold Coast remains up in the air as rival clubs circle for his services in 2019.

AFL.com.au understands the 27-year-old, who is out of contract at season's end, is yet to be offered a new deal to stay with the Suns.

Despite missing the past seven weeks with a pectoral injury, Hall's outside speed and ability to run and carry has spurred interest from St Kilda, North Melbourne and Carlton.

While his injury has delayed talks, it is understood the Tasmanian is open to a move to Victoria.

Hall last signed a contract extension with the Suns in 2015 and was raised in trade discussions last season before returning for pre-season.

Looking to win the respect of new coach Stuart Dew, Hall returned to the senior side for rounds 2-4 after missing the start to the season with a broken finger.

After 26 disposals against West Coast in round four, he was dropped to the NEAFL for three weeks.

Recalled to the senior side in round eight, he collected 23 and 29 disposals against Melbourne and Port Adelaide respectively before injuring himself against Geelong in round 11.

Dew's influence after his first season at Metricon Stadium is set to be a big factor in the Suns' busy off-season movements.

Sydney defender Jake Lloyd, who worked closely with Dew in his time as an assistant at the Swans, is being courted with a long-term offer to move north.

Retaining restricted free agent Tom Lynch remains the club's No.1 priority, however there is growing expectation he will return home to Victoria.

Fellow free agents Michael Rischitelli and Jarrod Harbrow also remain unsigned for next season.

Kade Kolodjashnij, who played his first AFL game since round round four last week after concussion, is set to begin negotiations in coming weeks.

A two-year deal for Michael Barlow, who amassed 50 disposals and laid seven tackles in the NEAFL last weekend, is also set to expire at season's end.

Barlow will be in the frame for a recall when the Suns host Carlton on Saturday night.

I would think given the logjam for spots that we could delist him and then bring him back on the rookie list and pay him whatever we want to pay him.

Mc Veigh may still come to us, seems like Longmire is making a meal of this deal with McVeigh trying to publicly force him into retirement

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/07...-to-play-on-in-2019-but-will-it-be-at-sydney/

At least McVeigh gets to use us as leverage to get himself a new deal to play next season or we should be able to splash the cash and get him out of his coaching deal with the Swans so that we can transition him from a player to Dew's coaching staff.

I think the strategy will be going in with 38 main list and 6 rookie A .
But if bid come in for Koenan and Graham GC might go 40 main list and 4 Rookie list . . Big possibility GC will trade 1 second Rd and 1 third round for next year pick.

Good luck to those who signed Lehman and Shoenfield to long term deal .

Lemmens and Schoenfeld contracts were dumb to extend

Now that Aliir has re-signed (for decent money) our chances of securing Lloyd must be at an all-time high. Sydney simply can't afford the kind of money he deserves.

Graham and Scott will be bid on in the ND so that's something we must factor in. Koenen is unknown at this stage but it's entirely possible he gets bid on as well. If the AFL give us an end of first round priority pick then I doubt we'll have any issues matching bids for our academy players. Perhaps if we're really shrewd, we can package the West Coast pick and the priority pick for another top 10 pick this year. Bringing in another three top 10 picks, as well as our three academy players, would be a good outcome for us.

Not sure why we even discussed him it was a no chance situation. I'm not that keen on him. We have good key backs in the first team plus Graham n Koenen coming in.

I am not sure Graham and Koenan are ready if injuries strike . You would assume they will replace Leslie and whoelse KPD to delist in the ND draft .

You need to replace Barlow , Rosa , Hall ,Lonergan with first round midfield .

Free agency a disaster and destroying equalisation: Cochrane
24 July 2018 — 5:48pm
Free agency was a disaster that had slaughtered equalisation and creating a two-tier AFL where the strong clubs preyed on the weak according to Gold Coast Suns chairman Tony Cochrane.

The AFL needed to fix compensation for clubs losing players as the gap between strong and weak clubs was widening and turning the AFL into a version of the English Premier League.

"We say we have equalisation in play when really you do not at all because free agency slaughters that and the draft system is slaughtered by it," Cochrane said.

"You cannot say to people you have competitive balance and equalisation and then have this system that lets players go from weaker clubs to the strong.

"Either be honest and say it's a free for all and everyone have a crack or have an equalisation system. Just be honest do you want a free for all free agency or do you want equalisation? Because you have neither at the moment and it's a disaster.

"The only free agents who walk now are free agents who leave lower clubs and go to stronger clubs."

His comments come with his club's co-captain Tom Lynch a free agent yet to re-commit to the club. On Monday night Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said his club was keen on Lynch and he had personally met with the player. Richmond and Hawthorn are also eager to secure the full forward.

Cochrane would not speak about the Buckley meeting with Lynch or about his captain's contract status but said he was frustrated with the state of free agency in general.

"I am not about talking about any one free agent I am about raising attention that if they continue with this it's going to be a massive long term problem for the AFL," he said.

"Look at the bottom four of the last five years it is the same culprits, the same names cropping up.

"You have to give people hope, you don't give them hope if you give them draft picks and they then just leave as free agents to stronger clubs.

"It's a real problem and if you don't address it long term you will turn it into the EPL and then the media rights will go down because broadcasters will say we only want five games a weekend and we won't have the other four and they will be pushed off to other platforms. The money for the broadcast rights will go down and ultimately it effects every club the strong and the poor.

"It's in the long term interests of the AFL to find a solution."

Cochrane said it was too late to abandon free agency now because the players would not tolerate that but the mechanisms around compensating clubs for losing players needed to be changed.

"The horse has bolted, you clearly cannot change free agency and get rid of it because the Players Association have got it and won't let it go but the AFL have to find a better way to compensate clubs for losing players," he said.

Cochrane said he had raised the matter at Commission level and with other club presidents and had a receptive hearing.

He did not champion one particular change but said all compensation measures needed to be considered.

"Free agency will eventually turn the AFL into the English Premier League with the same four or five clubs at the bottom and the same four or five at the top. It is rewarding the strong clubs and punishing the poor.

"We have been playing by the Marquess of Queensberry's rules but if you won't then I can be Robin Hood and start taking from the rich and giving to the poor."

He said the system now where the recipient club does not lose a draft pick when they get a free agent but a new pick enters the draft to compensate the club that is losing a player only served to punish the rest of the competition by moving them a place back in the draft order.

Don't usually agree with the guy but he raises a few good points.

Maybe not but Aliir isn't going to move clubs to play reserves.

Not for me been in the system 8 years had enough chances , never established a permanent spot in two lowly sides not sure he can improve our side.
Cannot see how he gets a regular spot in our best 22 !
May as well try somebody whose never had the same chances (VFL WAFL SANFL) may find a diamond.
