Yes 13 coaches said he wasn't the best player in the league
3 did

Of midfielders
- Cripps 3 votes
- Dusty 1 vote
- Danger 1 vote
- Gaff 1 vote
- Fyfe 1 vote

So think it's fair to say that he is thought of as a pretty good player.
they can think what they want just like i can.
id have at least 12 guys ahead of cripps
anyway can we move on to talk about the suns i really can't give 2 hoots about a carlton player.

the past 4 years, the amount of talented players that have left our club surely isn't getting talked about enough when people are talking about our position on the ladder and how we're not making any progress.

2015: harley bennell, charlie dixon
2016: jaeger o'meara, dion prestia
2017: gary ablett jnr, adam saad
2018: tom lynch

you could argue that bennell hasn't done anything at freo and saad hadn't really reached his full potential with us, but they were all super talented players during their time at the suns. how can any team make progress up the ladder when they lose this amount of talent/potential year after year? sure, each player had their own reasons to leave and you can't convince everyone to stay, but i'd like to see how any other team would go if 7 of their best 22 players left over a 4 years period.

If we choose to head back to the draft, please, please, please choose blokes whose bodies are more physically ready for AFL football like a Wines / Cripps type. We just can’t afford to continue to wait for 4 - 5 years on these skinny kids even if their potential is supposedly higher.

Aaron Hall
Harsh, he is a gut runner who can break the lines and get a lot of the ball. He probably is unsure about what coaches think of him and his future so a pro has to keep his options open. He was dropped and made to play NEAFL then faught his way back into some good 1s form before his season ending injury...Great player in the right structure!

Some kids are men at 14 and others not until 20+ Disadvantage Suns have is the NEAFL, having to play 5+ under 18s each week its not a good training ground for the older ones compared to SANFL, WAFL and VFL where they are all buf bodies. Suns academy showing great signs but takes longer for younger and older to develop...needs patience and lower expectations for a few years and the results will come.

I like Hall
He’ll never be a champion because he’s so hot and cold
But at his best he’s a really good player
Personally I just think he needs to feel he’s a wanted player
I know he was Rocket’s whipping boy and I get the impression Dew has fallen in line with that way of thinking

Gut runners generally run both ways.

He is a great forward runner who, as you say, breaks the lines.
Has a beautiful long kick but can blaze away without kicking to advantage on occasion.

Terrible set shot for goal.
Doesn’t run defensively.

I think he would add something to our team at the moment.

Our defence has been alright this year, just can’t kick goals which he would clearly help do.

Who needs Lynch when we got these :)

Owens likened the 194cm talent, who weighs 84kg, to Brisbane Lions forward Eric Hipwood and believed Graham would be picked up by an AFL club at the end of the season.

“Caleb is like Hipwood at Brisbane,” Owens said.

“He is not quite as strong a kick but he launches at the footy, runs hard and competes hard.

“He can play at both ends too.

“He used Caleb in our finals series last year as a forward and a ruck. He has a big leap and strong hands.

“He is athletic and can really fly hard at the footy. He is aggressive and takes a lot of marks.”

Owens said the other promising key position player coming through the ranks was Dirk Koenen who also played in Palm Beach Currumbin’s premiership side.

Koenen, who stands at 194cm and weighs 87kg, is mainly a key defender who has been playing in the Suns NEAFL side and he has been invited to the AFL’s draft camp.

“Dirk is more of a key defender but he can play at either end,” Owens said.

“In the academy series they even used him as a wingman. He can really play footy.

“He has an ability to mark the footy instead of just spoiling it. He is a good user of the ball and understands the game well.

If they are chasing May for this year I’d say they have been told by the lynch camp he isn’t picking them

That or they are having a two way bet.

If they stun themselves and both want to sign then the Pies will trade Moore and let the likes of Fasolo, Elliot and other fringe players go. Fasolo and Elliot would add ip to $700-800k in salary cap.

Geez I'd take Fasolo and Elliott
That's 40 extra goals a year for us

Presuming they play. Elliot hasn't played a game this year and missed all of 2017 through injury. Fasolo not much better.

I was at my son's Auskick today and was speaking to a relative of an experienced listed player from a Melbourne club.

Told me that his relative was in discussions with the Suns about coming up next year.

Without saying who the player was it was a key position player in his late 20s who wouldn't be a sexy pick (sort of like Witts) but has a big mature body and could provide a target and fill the breach until players like Graham and Koenan are ready in 2-4 years. I imagine the player would not cost much in terms of a trade and cash, but would probably get at least a 2 year deal to get him up to the Coast.

Also told me that 2MP was being heavily courted by the Hawks but he had knocked them back and was going to be at the Suns for the long haul.
