Yes , that is true as GC looking at other players from other team don't get off guard other team don't do the same, just because nobody talk about it through media does not mean it is not happening in Background . If you are Essendon list manager and want a midfielder what harm to ask Lyons agent availability.
Yeah and there is no issue with saying something like; 'If i were Essendon I'd be having a look at Lyons seeing as he's been getting dropped a bit by Dew and might want more opportunities' because it promotes a healthy discussion, but it's just blatantly untrue to state that it's 'looking likely Lyons will be seeking a way out in this year trade' and that he 'wants out' when he's given no indication of this. It's just negative thinking for no reason

Maybe I worded it wrongly , but what make you think Lyons is extremely happy with Dew treatment as a player . He is the only one that get dropped the most as senior player this year, get single out the most about his game this year . Holman and Young,Bowes ( Injuries and suspension) all have some down games but never get dropped but Lyons .

I imagine Lyons, Swallow, May and Thompson will all be back in this week. Some much needed senior bodies on the field.
I hope you are right espcially Lyons . The more he is not in starting line up , the more other club will ask about his availability.

Any chance at all... like 0.1% that after the Andrew Gaff incident he just wants out of AFL spotlight and decides to come to the GC?
He basically got a police escort directly off the plane tonight when down for the tribuneral
Out of contract
We have dollarsss

Slight chance but our PR team need to work overtime to be heard over the negative noise of the clubs position onfield and offield

Especially in WA. The Roar is running wild writing whatever rubbish comes to their journos pea sized minds. Literally, anything that will feed the masses hunger for negativity and excuse not to talk about Gaff. They actually referred to the club as rubble. Hope we chase Gaff or at least try, make it public and stir the pot.

I was at my son's Auskick today and was speaking to a relative of an experienced listed player from a Melbourne club.

Told me that his relative was in discussions with the Suns about coming up next year.

Without saying who the player was it was a key position player in his late 20s who wouldn't be a sexy pick (sort of like Witts) but has a big mature body and could provide a target and fill the breach until players like Graham and Koenan are ready in 2-4 years. I imagine the player would not cost much in terms of a trade and cash, but would probably get at least a 2 year deal to get him up to the Coast.

Also told me that 2MP was being heavily courted by the Hawks but he had knocked them back and was going to be at the Suns for the long haul.

Lyons leaving hasn't been reported anywhere. Whoever said that on here is talking out their ass. Fine to have an opinion but don't make it sound like you've heard something.

Casboult is a no for me - lacks mobility and kicking is still iffy. No more stop gaps. If we can nab Lukosius who looks almost ready to go now, a forward line centred around 2MP and Lukosius has a nice diversity about it.
Personally I hope Carlton go Lukosious and we can pick up Walsh and Smith/Rankine at 2 and 3. Our issue is we can't get it into our forwards. We can have the best forward line in the league but if we can't deliver it in there what is the point. I'm not massive on Causbolt but I can understand why the link would be there. A big forward who can clunk a mark. Just leave him one out in the forward 50, especially with these starting positions and it may not be the worst business. But I would only give a 4th rounder or worse for him, don't want to be using any sort of currency for him.

More and more I hear (just freely available podcasts etc..) the more I think that Carlton will take the best midfielder.
Mackay, Curnow
Not sure you need an additional tall forward.
They certainly need more mids

Let's assume there will be at least 7-8 players retire, leave or are traded. It's that fun time of year when you try and predict who has to go!

Lynch and Rosa are the first two but who's next?
I'd put Hall on the trade list if all the indicators are correct. Barlow as much as I like him, is done I'd say.
I know he's on contract but Lemmens should go. Rischatelli also time to hang 'em up but great and loyal player. That's my six for starters.
There could also be a few shocks we don't want - Brodie etc but let's hope they can keep him and a few other bloomers.
Who else as we will definitely need to clear the decks.

On the 'endangered' list would be Joyce, Schoenfeld, Wigg, Scheer and Ah Chee as possible trade bait back to WA for an experienced player.

I prefer to predict what the club will do rather than what people prefer. Some of your predictions will not happen for sure. Like Lemmens, Joyce, Scheers :-)

Gone: Lynch, Rosa, Barlow, Hall
Probably gone: Willis
Possibly gone: Jaska, Lonergan, Rischitelli, Leslie

I don't see any reason why the club would let go Brodie, especially when he is playing now.

I would be surprised if Wigg is gone. Dew praised his elite kick and decision making. He will get opportunity to prove himself next year.

The main question is - Will some players coming out of contract this and next year decide to leave. There could be 1 of 2 surprises there.
Personally, I have some doubts about May's long-term commitment.

That's what I was doing...trying to predict what GCS will do...and see what others thought so thanks for your input.
I, like you would hate to see Brodie go but if he was adamant that he wanted out and not contracted, we couldn't stop him BUT he will be a champ and we need him.

Jaska, Wiggs I agree could go. Lonergan should be retained but again let's wait and see. In the end 7, 8 or 9 have to be moved on.

I expect us to have more draft picks then we know what to do with. As said likely 7-9 list changes expecting to get our 3 academy guys means we will have 4-6 spots for mature age recruits and draftees. Who knows what free agency brings but you expect us to have 5 1st round picks.
I think list spots will be our big issue once again. Unless AFL grants us extra list space

Yes, it looks like we could end up with crazy numbers of picks. Trade some for next year picks? Combine some of them to move up draft? Some used for mature 1-2 players?

One thing for sure it will be interesting off season :)

Brodie has 2 more years to go as Scrimshaw.

Maybe we can package up 3 good picks this year and next year's 2nd rd pick to move up 5 spots in next year's draft

If there was 1 concession that I would be asking for from the AFL is extra list spots (at least for the next 3 years). Need more chances to hit on some draftees/rookies while not booting the veterans out the door.
