Hey All, come in peace. Just wondering who you guys are targeting with all your draft capital this year?

Seem like every club is putting up names against your picks, but not sure if any of it is actually factual or just pipe dreams for early picks.

Does the Andrew McLeod for Chris Groom count as 'modern era trades'?

Cause that would have to be right up there!
Too bad can't compare .

In an interview with Australian men's magazine Alpha[7] in September 2005, McLeod would later reveal that he refused to play for Fremantle after feeling insulted and belittled by the newly appointed Fremantle coach Gerard Neesham who had not actually seen him play before.[8]

Seems like it’s mostly pipe dreams to try and work their way up the draft board. Cameron already stated he’ll be taking about 5 kids in the draft and I doubt either one of 1 or 2 will be available

Absolutely true, that’s part of the fun of BF but even you must laugh when people say on your board we must get Lyco as he is a generational player, perhaps better than McLeod and in the same breath offer up an average player and picks we don’t need as reasonable trading
Yeah, I hear you. I think there's a reasonable amount of worry about offering too much for Lukosius. But really good SA players come along so rarely that it is worth giving up overs to get them, just so we know they won't leave.

I think there's advantages for you guys in trading for players that want to be at the GCS instead of drafting players who may not. Obviously not JUST that, but it makes sense to prioritise it until the list stabilises.

Yes but strategically drafting say lukosious and rankine or both king twins, greatly improves chances of players staying long term. Players that dont want to give up the opportunity to not play with their long time friend or brother could keep them at the club long term. Crows did the same with the crouch brothers.

Can you actually see MM wanting to go to GC? I have a hard time to believe it.

5 kids shouldn't be too hard. With the Lynch compo you should have 7 picks in the top 42 before priority picks are issued from last count. Surely you would be gunning for some established players in that mix as well yeah?

Make no mistake, MM would happily go where-ever the biggest paycheck is on offer!

I have no doubt that if you guy's pony'd up he would be on the first plane to the GC
That is the problem , you don't want one in multiple out ( Jack Martin , 2Mp , Miller , Ah Chee) . Although 2mp and Miller look like the loyal type surely you can' t under paid them for their next contract.

I agree and if we get #3 as compo for Lynch, I can see us taking 2 of Walsh/Lukosious/Smith/Rankine, with #2 and #3. I can't see us trading #2 again this year, even with a different List Mgr.

I expect if the AFL gives us priority access to 2 mature recruits outside list limits we would take 2 there, plus possibly 2 mature age rookies and then use picks 2, 3, 17, 26 and 29

I think the other two could be Flitsh and Tim Kelly type , that is why Geelong coach complain about priority access to state league players for Carlton and GC . The advantages of picking players up in draft- their wages are pretty cheap in the first two years .

Is it confirmed or you just heard it from media and assumed it done and Dusted .

Fair enough, if i'm honest I would be going after more established players personally, but that's just me looking in from the outside.

Good luck with the trade period!

Check out Will Hayes in the VFL, 20 years old from Footscray, gets plenty of it as an outside mid and generally uses it well. And like many outside mids would be much better in an AFL team. Would be a nice fit IMO

A fair comment but Mitch McGovern isn't the answer for us. 32 goals best ever season in a forward line that features Taylor Walker, Tom Lynch, Eddie Betts and Josh Jenkins where he takes the 4th or 5th defender.

Our forward line is actually not so bad. When it's at full force:

Jack Martin - Peter Wright - Alex Sexton
Darcy Macpherson - Sam Day - Ben Ainsworth

Day being the worst of the bunch who we can swing to defense should we bring in Lukosius which looks likely.

Could definitely use some seasoned defenders though. Players like Pittard maybe. Apparently Anthony Miles also on the radar

Also is anyone else a little confused as to why we're interested in Anthony Miles?

He's literally Barlow but 3 years younger. Slower than Barlow too, and Dew literally said the reason Barlow wasn't getting games was how many inside mids we had. Who's going to miss our for Miles realistically? Miller, Brodie, Swallow or Lyons
