I think the rankine flight risk would be highly diminished if lukosious was there beside him. Combined with ballard i think we would have enough SA boys on our list to make them feel at home.

I think a few of the older SA lads would help as well.....Lyons Wigg and even Holman is from down that way I think...

Could live with Sam Day while they get settled in

Could deal with trading May this year as long as we were going to play Day at CHB and got decent return. Future first and a fringe player from a team like Collingwood would make sense. Maybe someone like Sam McLarty

There are some very talented players from SA in this Draft. Forget about Rankine and Lukosius because they will more than likely be Suns in a couple of months, but those are just the sexy picks. Why wouldn't you use you player capital and draft picks to try to beat Port to pick up at least 2 of Valente, Rozee, Hately and McLennan? The scenarios you're putting up to get Lukosius all mean missing on getting those others. Do you rate the SA 6 as highly as Cal Twomey does in his Mock Draft?
McLennan is a half back and we have a million of those. Valente may not have the leg speed to really succeed. Rozee and Hately are both good options for us.

Good chance the suns end up with
Lukosius , Rankine , Scott + 2 more great kids . Combined with the talent already on the list it wont take long to turn this club around and be playing finals
I guess the question comes with do they stay, and do they develop properly in an environment surrounded by other kids?

McGovern's best season in one of the best teams and in a forward line with Walker, Lynch, Jenkins, and Betts is 32 goals. He's a below average key forward and not worth the money he's being paid. Would be livid if we offered him a big contract
You understand that scoring 32 goals in a forward line with 3 other players who also demand the ball and scored 40 - 60 goals each shows how GOOD he is, right?

If he gets more ball targeted to him, he scores more goals.

I think having Lukosius helps. Having other randoms who he's never met isn't going to do much, I wouldn't have thought.

Those who leave, are leaving for success. The only player who's left after their initial contract is Josh Caddy. If we turn our form around and start looking like a finalist side, I would back the club to keep them.

Prestia: 6 years
Lynch: 8 years
Caddy: 2 years
Bennell: 5 years (traded for behaviour)
Dixon: 5 years (see bennell)
Saad: 4 years
Ablett: 7 years

The Crows are in the best position to jump Port to get Rozee and Hately, but Melbourne's win stings. If you pick at #7, Port picks at #9, then you pick again later in the 1st (wherever the Demons finish) and Port early in the 2nd, what order do you think the picks will go given the 4 SA players are all rated at or around those picks?

My answer for you will be nobody know , you only know if GC pick them .

True, but having someone who's moved up from SA and settled in well would be a good role model to give them.

That was 3 years ago though.

20 goals in 2017
15 goals in 2018

Literally did worse than Aaron Young this year. That + his constant injury problems and how bad our physio staff are. Hard pass

Charlie Ballard is also mates with Izak Rankine and Jack Lukosius, having played with and against them up until last year. Charlie and Jack have a rivalry because CB shut him down when even grown men at SANFL Reserves level couldn't contain him. They played National Championships together last year when Jack and Izak were bottom-agers and Ballard was named in the best alongside Rankine in every match. It might not seem like much, but with Sam Day and Charlie Ballard both from Sturt, SA, you've also got Sean Lemmens from Port (I actually think we'll trade him back there at some point), Nick Holman from Centrals (same as Dew), Harrison Wigg from North Adelaide and Aaron Young spent a lot of time living in SA. These things will be important, just as they were when the club spent 10 days in WA and the boys from over there were given time with families and hosted team mates around. The club is building a culture and with Stuart Dew there is a strong South Australian flavour.

I think Hately and Rozee both go top ten and may go to neither of us - Hately screams Essendon to me - Valente and McLennan should both go between 18 and 30.

I actually think them seeing a good lifestyle and a secure club probably means even more.

You're right in that players don't seem to leave early in their careers from GCS once drafted.

Played back a lot this year. Didn't play much, still kicked a bag of five.

Look, fair enough. I think he's perfect balance for your forward line - mobile, defensive minded, great gecko hands - but it's reasonable that you wouldn't want.

That is the reason why GC won't gave up pick 2,3 for Pick 1 . Who in the club history gave up pick 2 , 3 for pick 1 and then pick Boyd or Jack Watts type will be the biggest laughing stock .
Pick #1 would not cost both picks #2 and #3. Not even close. More like pick #2 and pick #38 or #3 and #26, but Carlton would need a compelling reason to want to trade out of top spot if they think that they won't get their man at #2. The Blues pick at #1, #25 and #25 plus a couple of late picks and they might yet receive a priority pick somewhere in there. If they thought an extra pick was worthwhile to go back a place or two it might tempt them, but then again they could place their own price on it and ask for higher picks such as #3 and the WC pick. But in the end I simply don't see the Suns as having any desire to move up, the Saints don't have the Draft Capital and the Lions would need to throw their 1st, 2nd and 4th round picks in the pot (would have been much cheaper had Brad Scheer kicked straight in the final quarter of Round 22 for what would have been his first AFL goal - no pressure, mate!).

Losing Lynch though, Lukosius makes the most sense for us of all clubs.

Have definitely heard this one. I guess we'd just have to back ourselves if we took him and he sounded convincing during the interview he did the other day about wanting to play AFL anywhere. would rather go Smith with pick 3 though anyway and we're more in need of a good midfielder than a small forward
Rankine is not just a small forward. He is AFL ready as an attacking small forward, but his future will be as a goalkicking midfielder. I have never compared a player to Jason Akermanis, who was so naturally gifted and instinctive that he made the rest of the competition look bog standard, but Izak Rankine is a contender. One comparison said that Lukosius is the best key position player, Walsh the best midfielder, but Rankine is the most likely to win a Brownlow. In any case, the Suns might still have a shot at Bailey Smith if they trade up with the WC pick with a 2nd rounder. Saint, Dogs and Dockers picks would all be for sale at the right price.

Wow, best generation of SA players in a long time and you don't see any of them becoming Crows. I reckon Rozee is a no-brainer for Adelaide and you could pinch #8 from the Bombers with the Lever pick and your earlt 3rd rounder - they need more picks but you just need better picks to cash in on this rare opportunity to drastically improve your list from the dead zone.

We're already picking before Essendon so we could get one. I think Rozee goes to the Bulldogs.
