Who are these top end players from other clubs that want to play for the SUNS?

it may be that a club could be tempted to part with a player (s) for the right price and if the right money is on offer - a player may be tempted to come. I suppose you would have both the draft capital and cap space to try and tempt players to the club if you did a deal like proposed above..heck, if it was the crows in that position I would be demanding they seek out the best players available to bring in or at least not die wondering

I wonder if these Oponents fans can smell their own desperation? Do they even realise, we see straight through their ideas of how to extract Lynch, or skip on Lucocious or Rankine whilst pretending to care about how our club moves forward or what our list actually requires. It’s so sad..

I would imagine you don't want a repeat of the Lynch scenario though?. If you can bring people to the club that want to be there and want to make the club a great one to be at, it is half the battle (talent is the other half as there is no point bringing in people not up to it). We have lost our fair share of topline players of late and it would not surprise in the least of our recruiters prioritised SA lads if available. We have been burned by the player drain as well. If there are no topline Qld kids available, then you either have to convince the interstate draftees to buy into the club or seek out ready to go players prepared to move there - you can do both but you really don't want to get it wrong

This is my point exactly, your own agenda is so transparent. Our Coach has openly come out advising the public of his game plan moving forward.

Nobody wants to willingly come to us at the present, unless we pay overs, even then it’s not enticing at the moment. It will change as we have an amazing backbone being established on field and behind the scenes.

We have an incredibly young list. Let them all grow together and top up some second grade matures to even us out until they all peak.

It’s not complicated to actually look at a list and read up on it before blurting out what you think is best for them just because they have what you want.

So Dew wants us to turn into a group of utility players. Awesome they can be just a little less effective in each of their roles than dedicated players

As for Hall and KK sounds like a fire sale, “get your Suns here, red hot Suns going cheap, no offer too small”

The thinking is good, the Bulldogs won their premiership 2 years ago on the back of players who could play multiple roles. Midfielders that are able to play forward or back are very handy to have.

The talented South Australian, playing across half-back for North Adelaide, gathered 24 disposals and took 10 marks in a dominant game at senior level.

He joins the Road to the Draft podcast this week to discuss his performance, the challenges of his 2018 season and how his move to Adelaide from the country shaped his footy.

The 18-year-old will this week play against close friend Jack Lukosius in a SANFL preliminary final, and Rozee shared what might be his sledge of choice against the potential No.1 pick.

Really depends on the draft order. Vic clubs big on Smith and the Kings, but Dockers and Dogs would be interested in Rozee. Crows and Port too. I'm really looking forward to live trading because the little talked about aspect of the change is that clubs will only be able to trade players within the usual trade period, but picks can be traded at any time leading up to the Draft night.

Clubs with early picks but few later picks will want to trade out of the 1st round for picks from stacked clubs like the Suns, Blues, Port, and the Crows who control half the picks inside the top 30. There will be players traded for picks, but in the lead up to Draft Night it will be the small machinations that count as clubs make alliances and contingencies to get their target.

The Suns can be the architects of how this Draft plays out and should know ahead of time how the other clubs intend to pick at the top of the order.
- The Saints need to replace at least 7 players, but after their pick #3 they have just 4th and 5th rounders and will need to find a way to turn that into several picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
- Geelong cut 6 blokes today and have to turn their 1st plus late 3rds and early 4ths into father/sons and Next Gen Academy picks, so their 1st pick might be too valuable to spend on just one players.
- Fremantle and Brisbane will make things interesting with their Neale trade
- Adelaide can make a play for the top pick with McGovern to Carlton and have 3 picks inside the top 25, but Melbourne are stinging them
- The Bulldogs have a large gap between pick #6 and #42 and may look to move back
- The Bombers only delisted 3 players, so they may try to build their draft picks through trading, but if that doesn't their top pick could be available.
- North just delisted 7 players and have 6 picks in the Draft, so they have some work to do to fill the vacancies and get their father/sons plus Next Gen Academy players
- the Giants will do their usual trick of flying into the early rounds to match bids on their awesome Academy kids, this time Kieran Briggs and J. Koschitske 2.0
- the Swans have to find more draft ammo to be able to afford Blakey
- Port have the second best haul of picks after the Suns and look to be doing the total opposite of their failed recruitment drive of last year

Worth a 2nd round pick and a modest pay rise?

Rohan is lookig to leave to go to geelong to be closer to family after the loss of their daughter , Not just wanting to move

J. Koschitske 2.0 isn't Academy eligible anymore, the boundaries have been changed although the club could still look at him as an option if he is available at the right pick, I think Knightmare rates him early third round and he has missed the later part of the season with an injury

I rate Briggs very highly having watched him play for the Allies. This Draft is thin for rucks and the competition is too, so it wouldn't surprise me if he attracted a late first round bid. Matthew Walker is a highly rated prospect too, but probably only likely to cost you a 3rd rounder. Koschitske 2.0 kept Ben King goalless until the death when of course he kicked the winning goal in the Vic Metro vs Allies game.
How many players overall do you see GWS turning over? Do you think some Academy prospects might get Rookie Drafted? Do you see Briggs going undrafted last year as the kind of thing the NEAFL Academies can take advantage of in terms of keeping him on your Academy list for that extra year so he isn't taking a senior or Rookie list spot, even if it means possibly paying much more for him now he's an U19 and has had a breakout year?

There are 17 other teams and 10 of them are in Victoria, so the journalists covering the story are all saying he wants to go home to Victoria because 90% of them are in Victoria anyway. Geelong has come up because he played for the Falcons but if the Cats couldn't pay Gaz's $700K salary that the Suns had to cop, how will they afford Rohan's 2 years remaining on his contract? Or will Rohan suddenly threaten to retire if he can't go home?

The was whether the Suns would want to go after him, you know having money in the cap and a need for players of his profile, not whether you think your other team has already tried to pry him loose with dodgy under the table payments and a cushy job for the missus.

possible 6-8 list spots turned over depending on trades but likely to retire are Keefe, Mohr and then possibles are Reid and Griffen. D Duckley likely to be delisted also the other question mark is Tiziani who did his ACL in April so he would either be delist or try and move to the rookie list
I still think the club needs to spread the age demographic of the list and also take into account bringing in younger talent for SC reasons

I think most supporters are in agreement the club will pick up Briggs and don't think it will be before our second live pick (Freos second rounder 24/25 i think) then the 2 third rounders will be used for Briggs and Walker

I think the club will pick up 2 academy rookies with Peatling my preference (played 11 NEAFL games) and another 3/4 as possibles

I think the AFL needs to look at changing some things for the NEAFL eligibility as it is effecting the development of the clubs younger players, when clubs have an extensive injury list they are forced to call on academy players and top ups from lower leagues so for example this year the Giants used 92 players and I am sure half would have players less than 3 games. This is slowing down the development of the listed players as they are forced to play in different positions than what they would at AFL level and also few combinations with team mates as they would be lucky to have trained with some of them at least once. I would like to see the NEAFL teams be able to contract 4 (+/-) players for the season to avoid situations where only a few listed players are fit and it can lead to 100 point losses. Also need to take into account that if the senior team is playing away on the same or next day they will generally take 2 emergencies thus diminishing the eligible players even further. I do realise that the point is to develop the players but it is taking away from an even competition IMO.

There was talk of Gaz paying back the money and if a Geelong player was traded that would have helped. From what I can tell all talk of terms of settlement and the Suns demands melted away when Gary's sister died. As far as I know, the Suns carried about half of Ablett's $700K salary.

Without more info it is hard to know what the effect will be and we could go through hypotheticals but as it is a vic centre comp I can only see it disadvantaging the northern clubs and the AFL should look to develop a national reserves for the AFL teams and I think the u18 system works fine as it needs to take into account that the majority of players School is the priority. I don't think SA and WA state club want Reserve league , will absolutely kill off players like Holman , Tim Kelly , Willie Rioli , Liam Ryan ,Zac langdon getting second chance at AFL ( plus the travel ) . IMO AFL will try to integrate NEAFL to VFL like Tac Cup with the addition of Tasmania team .
