First up good luck for the trade and draft period and things go in your favour
My understanding of the rules is that the Pies need to take a first round pick this year or next to comply with the 2 in 4 years rule so not sure how that will impact on there strategy this year, this is in regards to if May does request a trade and the Pies are interested. I hope it doesn't happen and he should stand tall and try and lead the club to better times

That then becomes the Pies problem to resolve, They look to be losing Moore and Langdon has yet to sign so have the assets to get the deal done
Pies if May wants to go there will be looking to find a top 10 pick or use their 1st rounder looking like #16-#20 depending on where they finish up this year. Hope May stays for GC sake and commits long term

Lukocious and Rozee were pretty forgettable in an unbelievable prelim final today.. Rozee does have a nice set of hands on him, took a good mark in the 3rd and was tidy by foot but nothing like the week before, and Lukocious for all the talk about workmate went largely unseen for large periods. I worry that people buy into his hype. Having said this it was a prelim final in the SANFL... about as close to the afl as you can get
I wouldn't worry too much about Lukocious' performances. General consensus is that he's cooked after such a mammoth year. With the Champs also on he would have played about 30 games this year.

What you're seeing now isn't really a true reflection of him. As every week has progressed he has steadily drifted more and more out of games. And like you mentioned, now playing in SANFL seniors. In the finals no less. Not something like the TAC Cup.

Aah I see. In that case that's pretty bad then!
Well wouldn’t say bad.
Probably a positive sign for us that says he’s leaving Sydney.
If the Sydney guys knew he was going they could well have just elected to play another academy kid over Newman.

Don’t roast me here but honestly Andrew Boston and Ryan Davis looked really good for Southport, Boston was good for us initially, I think he kicked 4 against GWS in 2014. Davis was great in 2016 but did a bit of a Barlow in 2017 and played less. Seb Tape looked good in the back 50 as well. Wouldn’t mind picking Boston back up as a rookie.

We didn't delist Boston IIRC. I'm pretty sure he retired because he just didn't like being a footballer full time. Would much prefer to get into the booze and nightlife rather than train all the time.

Didn’t say he was delisted, your right about the not wanting to be a full time footballer part though, it was initially said he retired for “personal reason”

Spoke to Boston before he left the Suns, he lacked confidence in himself and I don't think he liked the pressure of AFL... whether that environment has changed now

To be honest he would have to get in way better shape.

Very solid now and not particulalry cut.

Not sure what role he would be playing. Is skilful but not really athletic.

Need to get both king brothers in. One each end! ( pick 2 and 3) ( pick 3 from Lynch)
Talk is that Carlton will take Walsh with pick 1. You guys would be nuts not to take Lukocious and Rankine (might stop some of the go home factor) with 2 & 3 then grab Lloyd & Newman from swans for pick 18.

Still leaves you some nice picks later in the draft but you will have two good players from a quality system and the best tall and best x factor from the draft.

With your better administration, better facilities, good coach and a better run with injuries next year, this trade/draft could kick start your club.

Interesting with the Brownlow invitees

Clubs could nominate 4 players, any who had previously won and the club captain.

All teams had at least 5 players (4 invitees + captain)
Geelong and Richmond had more given they have invited former winners in addition to captain and 4 invitees

Sydney on the other hand have only 4
Effectively invited only 3 players in addition to the club captain Kennedy
(parker, Heeney, Franklin)

Jake Lloyd overlooked
- to be fair so was Hewett, Hayward, Rampe, Aliir and a few others who could have snagged the final invite

Probably can't read anything into it - Interesting none the less.

Couple of players dropping dramatically too. Connor McFadyen and Chayce Jones dropped for no reason I could see. Top 9 stays the same and I pretty much agree with Walsh, Lukosius and Rankine in the order. Don't understand how Max King can stay so high on form when he hasn't played in months and won't be AFL ready until at least 2020.

Cal Twomey had Bailey Scott on this list earlier in the season, so I'll be interested to see where he will be projected after the Combine. I think Cal's mock draft and phantom draft lists would be similar, but this year's Draft will be impossible to predict with Live Trading. Perhaps an indicator will be the origin of players relative to clubs, such as WA having no Top 10 predictions and Freo now likely to have Brisbane's pick, so you'd expect the Crows would want to trade up from their Melbourne-tied pick for one of Freo's pick to go after Rozee or Rankine, while the Dockers have first crack at Ian Hill and Jordan Clark from WA.

With so many club-tied players in the top 25, will those clubs be trying to trade back so they can match bids later at a discount? Which other clubs will be looking to attempt to poach these players? Sydney have been the most likely to bid on players, especially GWS Academy, so will there be bids on Blakey? The Suns made an early bid on Jacob Hopper in 2015 which set off a succession of clubs bidding for GWS kids and every time GWS matched the bid with a 20% discount.

Is very hard to predict this year , all the NGA academy (Multicuture+ zone talent ) start to show something this year compare to previous year . This is not including non - Multicuture, F/S bid . ( Eg Blakey and Bailey Scott )

I think Kwaby Boakye's years in the NEAFL are an example of why the Suns list should be much longer. He is not AFL ready, but part of the reason for this is that he has not truly had much opportunity to play with AFL level players largely because of the Suns injury management over the past 2 seasons has seen him become one of the oldest players in the team when he should be among the youngest. In the last 5 rounds the Suns played without a recognised ruckman and when Leslie went to the Senior team there were no key defenders apart from Dirk Koenen, while the side played without a proper 2 pronged key forward attack all season.
When Boakye played with Leslie, Jaska, Scrimshaw, Dawson and Ballard he wasn't even played in defence much and he is just not a forward even though he goes ok at forward pressure and creates opportunities.
It does look like the Suns will have a Category B rookie spot to fill and it will be out of Boakye, Foster, Baru and Simington if Graham doesn't slip through the Draft unclaimed. A lot of talent will walk out the door if the AFL doesn't allow more list spots.

I think all of them will be playing in NEAFL with Aspley , Redland or Southport if not picked up by AFL club.

Yes, and that is a positive thing for NEAFL or QAFL sides that pick them up. The main point I am making is that every year our club turns over 10 or 12 players and the average age goes down because the new talent brought in is either 18 or mid 20s. The exceptions have been Holman, Weller and Wigg who are the right age, while Barlow and Rosa were only able to give a limited number of seasons. Having extra spots means you can recruit all your Academy hopefuls and recruit AFL veterans as placeholders until the young talent on the list turns 23+.

Hey folks dropping in with respect , have you got news of maybe Brodie and Scrimshaw looking to leave ? Surely not could be just Victorian pot stirring !

Cheers

Hasn't been any actual news regarding either of them wanting to leave. Media beat up over nothing at this point
