Miles, Townsend, Ellis, GHS, Newman all C Graders. I know beggars can’t be choosers but what on earth are Dew and Cameron trying to build. The most hotly contested award at the club next year is going to be best clubman. Is this meant to improve our culture? The professionalism of our players? The results of this experiment will be fascinating. Never seen a club try it before except perhaps when GWS first came into the comp but Power, Cornes, McDonald etc. were all guns when in their prime. This lot are all just honest toilers.

Looks like we are in full scale rebuild mode.

So I am OK with about 3 of that type of player.

Moderate contract terms ($ and years), hard workers, have all played a lot of reserves football, seen the good and the bad. Can play a role, but also can get dropped late in the season when we need to play an 18 year old. But if they come here and play well, will stay in the team.

No more than 3, please, unless we can rookie them.

We have little cash and no success so not exactly the recipe for landing marquee players

It appears way too many especially considering that Suns are also after some mature age state league players (possibly Pickett, Collins), 4 top 30 picks, possibly Scott, Graham, Koenen. Dew talked about 8-9 changes.

P. S. Those Gws vets were all past their prime

Dew and Cameron obviously highly rate the young talent currently on our list and what we can bring in this year with our early picks, that’s the only reason I could see us bring in so many of these types is to surround our “elite” youngsters with solid citizens who will accelerate there development and hold the club together while the kids come good

I think if we are bringing in some of these types it is essentially with the plan for them to continue to build the culture, play a bit and then be gone in a couple of years.

We’re not going to carry these types for 4-5 years. Rather they fill a void for a couple of years whilst are current young crop are finding their find and becoming the leaders of the club.

Interesting that Lynch has called the press conference today,
Has he formally announced he is not re-signing with the club?
If he has then the only thing to announce is his club of choice and I can't see him doing it while that club is still playing finals?
Hawks have him?

Its for the launch of trade radio might be a bit of chat about why he wants to leave but is purely promotional. Lynch is just starting his media career to build up on the 45k and 3 hot cross buns contract he will sign.

The vibe I’m getting is Dew/Haynes/Cameron are resetting our list as if we were about 3 years into our club all over again.

The Ainsworth draft maybe being looked at as being our 1st year.

Then add in last years draft crop + this years big haul and we are again packed full of highly rated kids.

Harbrow/Swallow/Hanley/Rischa, etc are our matured aged experienced players and the Miller/Wright/Weller, etc are our next bracket moving into their prime years?

So not full re-build, just a partial reset of where our list actually sits in terms of development.

Or something like that if it kinda makes sense?!

If you guys just grab every South Australian prospect possible in this draft, they can't all go home at once, right? Just turn the town into New Adelaide.

Charlie Ballard has already said he is not missing Adelaide one bit, and yesterday he was intimating on twitter he was going to be recruiting Lukosius to the Suns.

Realistically every method we have tried to build the list so far has failed. We can't just keep doing the same thing over and over and going all in on exposing 18/19 year olds from the draft. This approach is at least different. And if it gets us rolling up the ladder, then I'm all for it. Critics say we should have used the GWS model. Well, here we go.

God Lynch is terrible at talking to the media

essentially all we got out of it though was that "if we were playing finals he'd have been captain for the next 10 years"
Thinks and hopes that May will stay as well which just sounded super hypocritical

Really find it difficult to understand how the Suns with the youngest list and about to lose a host of experienced footballers
on large amounts of money have a salary cap squeeze.
How come other lowly clubs with better lists than us can afford to chase the big fish (Neale Hannebery Wingard McGovern Shiel)
and all we chase are tadpoles; just doesn't make sense.
Getting a bit nervous about Bailey Scott final decision , massive blow if he doesn't choose the Suns.

Sammy Day and Sebby Tape have stayed on for the long haul as well, Seb even after he’s been delisted.

Very much so
As I said to someone yesterday, if you weren't around when Hawthorn and Geelong would send half a team to play us then you're not Foundation
That doesn't happen anymore no matter how badly we're going
Excluding Ablett who we can argue forever about whether or not he was good or bad for the Club, our current experienced players in Thompson May Swallow Martin Ainsworth Day Weller Witts Wright Miller+ next gen Ainsworth Fiorini Bowes Crossley etc are way way ahead of the 2010 core
I loved Daniel Harris at North but Jarryd Lyons>>>>>>>him
Geez-Harbs and Riska are still here too!
If we can get 22 best 28 players on the ground regularly we'll be competitive- which we weren't in the first 3 years

That's exactly what they are doing. The leaders taking the Club forward are
Miller
Bowes
Fiorini
Mcpherson
Ballard
Weller
Ah Chee
Ballard (already)

Liked how Ainsworth has moved his family up, he’s living with his best mate aswell. Obviously loves it up on the coast

A few things to like about Anthony Miles. Firstly, he played his initial seasons with the Giants when they started out including 20 odd NEAFL games, so he knows what it is like to be a foundation player at a startup club. His Richmond career was arrow up until the interchange restrictions capped rotations at 90, which meant more prolonged playing time in 2016 and his form suffered at exactly the wrong time because the Tigers then recruited a fitter version of him in Prestia. He has killed it at VFL level, which is a higher standard of footy than SANFL or WAFL and a level above NEAFL, with 40 odd games bringing his actual total of professional football games to around 150.

Miles wins clearances and lays tackles all day, plus he's polled Brownlow votes in 7 of his 70 AFL matches. He would have been a constant fixture in the Suns midfield had have been drafted here and Richmond will be spewing they have to let such a good depth player go. Dimma's quotes on having to continually tell Miles he wasn't picked each week despite being the best player in the VFL sound remarkably like Dew's comments about Barlow.

When you can can you summarise please OB
Not much earth shattering news - mostly stuff we already know.

Spoke highly of the young leaders - Ah Chee, Fiorini, Bowes and Weller.

Said Dew has been involved in recruiting throughout the year.

Didn't know anything in relation to any concessions we may receive.

Mostly played a straight bat to everything.
