if you want Brodie we’ll take pick 1 on its own thanks. Probably one of our most promising young players.

100% agree he is one of your most promising players but the highlighted part belongs in the Crows Mitch McGovern fantasy and delusion and ranting thread. Good player but not pick 1 good.:);)

Pick 9 from 2 years ago

Has been developed by the club in a mix of both NEAFL and AFL

From round 16 - 20 this year he:
- lead our midfield in the swans game for a game high possessions + clearances
- averaged 24 possessions, 11 contested.
- was 1st in rising stars for centre clearances and clearances
- was 5th among rising stars for disposals per game - despite one game being an 8 possesion (at quarter time injury game)
- was 7th In the AFL for centre clearances per game

and he's under contract until 2020

So yes, to us, he is worth pick 1.

Don't come to our board and try and lecture us on what is 'fantasy and delusion'. if we offered you 'the equivalent of pick 17' for Paddy Dow who was statistically worse by a long way this year you'd laugh us out of the room

I get what you're trying to say and I understand it, I just don't believe anyone would pay pick 1 for him. Im sure there are Carlton supporters who say SPS is worth pick 1, they can say it, but no one is paying it. Gee, Adelaide supporters think Mitch McGovern is worth pick 1. He's a good player as I keep saying. I hope the Suns keep him as much as I want Brodie at the Blues.:)

That's just it though, he's pivotal to us improving in the future and that makes him worth pick 1 to us. We don't have to trade him and personally even if you did offer pick 1 i'd rather not sell. he's invaluable to the team and our development.

On the adelaide issue, they're kidding themselves if they think a B grade forward is netting them pick 1 on his own.

If I were Carlton i'd offer pick 1 in a multi-trade though if it netted them Shiel and McGovern

Carlton
Lose: 1
Gain: Shiel + McGovern

Adelaide:
lose: McGovern + 7 + future second
Gain: pick 1

GWS:
lose: Shiel
Gain: 7 + future second (adelaide)

Mark McGowan is a lightweight reporter who specialises in fluff pieces for slow news days. This week he's reporting that Brayden Preuss is looking for more opportunities at the Demons. The logic is flawed as he would be leaving his 2nd ruck position at North after Goldstein to take up 2nd position at the Dees after Gawn who is the best ruck in the comp. Why would he leave a club he's managed to crack the senior team with to play for a club that will keep him in VFL?

I would be disappointed for Scheer if he was to be delisted and re-rookied because he had a good year. I watched him in the NEAFL a lot and his growth is encouraging. He also has a contract until the end of 2019, so it is probably bullshit.

Wigg to the Rookie list makes sense, but his contract situation is unclear.
Again, more rubbish! Scheer is contracted, cant be delisted.

so I gather from the thread that lukosius and someone like rozee will be picked by gold coast hopefully leaving us with the king twins
fremantle supporter here

Just a note on the rebuild that you guys are going through, fremantle were in the same position in 2007-2010 heavily in debt bottom four finish and only two finals series in 15 years of existence then went on to play in gf in 2013.
Also when fremantle started out in 1990s west coast were the best team in competition and the afl plus powerful clubs not wanting two titans out west didn't set up fremantle up properly no assistance compared to gws and gcs.
hence the hostile attitude towards eagles plus debt and zero success.
where as the afl has been behind gcs from the begining
Mathew pavlich describes training in public parks when he first arrived in 2000. Seriously a club that now averages over 40 000 attendance.
however we managed to draft people like Sandilands, mcpharlin, pavlich, mundy and Johnson who would stick with you through thick and thin.
we targeted a good president list manager and off field people
gained a place to train

suns will gain quality people in luko rozee already have weller touk miller, witts, bowes swallow and I reckon youll keep may
itll take time but suns will get there

We have in fact delisted and rookie drafted contracted players in the past (Broughts and Danny Stanley for sure) to open up a spot for another draftee. But that happened when rookies needed a LTI to play, and those guys were playing out the string.

I am assuming it would be very uncomfortable for a contracted player, but in theory I like the club being aggressive in using the rookie list, especially with an extra 2 slots available.

The new rule about playing rookies any time, plus the likely lack of interest from other clubs in re-drafting some of our players, means the club can be aggressive in delisting contracted players to open up list spots, then rookie draft them.

In theory I like it. I say in theory b/c I would not like to be the delisted player. An evaluation that they are far enough down the order that no-one else would draft them given the contracted amount for what they are producing. Plenty of good players have come from further back, but if you are trying to be a good player, you would not want to start from there.

When you are starting from scratch as a club you have to make some tough decisions.

The need to rookie contracted players may come down to what happens with players like Leslie, Lonergan, Nicholls, May and KK and maybe even Lyons during the trade period (I would throw Lemmens and Schonefeld in this bracket but with 2 years left on their deaks who are we kidding).

Personally can't believe they are looking at GHS - I don't think he could even muster a top 3 result in the Cats VFL B&F and is soooo slow. Miles is just a better version of him and we only need 1 more of this type.

They're not really similar.

Here, you think they're asking too much for Brodie.

In the McGovern threads, it's broke ass Carlton supporters thinking they can get McGovern for a second rounder and a packet of chips.

Both delusional, but in different directions.

Literally no Adelaide supporter has genuinely said McGovern is worth pick one.

I've seen a couple say it in frustration with Carlton nuffies, but no one truly believes it.

That being said, your trade seems reasonable.

He actually can, but he stays on your salary cap and you have to pay him.

Of course but it makes no sense, youd actively look to trade him and that is certainly not the case here.

How can we expect people to honour contracts when we are culling contracted players?

I guess it’s about “Belief”. If you don’t believe in the club and the coaches game plan and doubt it on any level openly, you’re trade bait!

It’s totally fair enough.
You can’t have worms in the apple and expect it grow and come to fruition.

Have a great day all!
Hoping Eagles by 18!
