Thanks for clearing that up because it really wasn't clear. You are still insinuating that the Suns and Carlton are in the same position, but it's wrong.

In fairness to Casboult, he probably would be a 30 goal guy if he was thrown into the ruck all of the time. We know he's not a pure ruckman or a pure forward, but he is a competitor whose possessions are more than 50% contested and it was only last year that he had an injury free season and kicked 34.18 = his best season in volume and accuracy. He isn't guaranteed a game in the seniors at either club, but I have to say it would be a sensible addition depthwise whereas I don't know if Carlton wants or needs him.

You really need to watch Levi play to understand why he wouldnt be a good fit and not go by the numbers

Whilst he is a great contested mark and can fill in in the ruck he he miles away from being a ruckman and he is extreme liability around the ground and can not be carried. Carlton actually need a 2nd ruck and have decided that he is not the player that can do this job - Watching him live at the ground this is very apparent and couldnt possibly be considered

I've seen him live and agree that he isn't a ruckman. It's obvious. However, he has value as a depth KPF. The Suns don't have many options so I can see why they are looking at him. He wouldn't be my first choice, however, I wouldn't hate having him play forward to provide an extra target. Could also be an asset to the NEAFL team whose inside 50 targets are often nowhere near AFL standard.

Lynch has nominated the Tigers tonight
Not really :) Just Herald's idiots Ralph and Clark say he will nominate Richmond this week like we did not know. Ralph is so stupid that he tells us that Suns have 48 hours to match when it's actually 3 days. Clark also claims that Suns have until Sep 15 to match when it actually depends when Richmond submits the offer. Richmond can submit an offer starting this Fri Sep 5, the last day to submit an offer is Fri Sep 12.

Relax , I agree with your opinion but let other have their , there is no right or wrong in a forum. If Casboult come ok , if not some other players might get their opportunity.

Now that ive sobered up from that big GF party. The other interesting rumour i heard is not all is well at richmond. Alot of players unhappy that their mates are being pushed out to make way for lynch. Could quite possibly be as many as 8 players leaving richmond this off season.

Think you misunderstood the point i was making and only read the quote rather than my reply, I was saying that Carlton need the 2 players for depth more than the suns

There also needs to be a level of respect for our club contributors whilst you bare Richmond colours. You’ve said you may move to the Coast and that’s good and well, but until then you are a guest and should be respectful in our forums. You have some good points, just don’t act like your part of the furniture and talk down, as you are below all the supporters at present in this forum until your colours change.

Look, there's a reasonably obvious flaw in this post.

I am confident there will be a player squeeze at the Tigers this year due to the mooted acquisition of Tom Lynch. There are already two young Tigers supposedly looking to move to the Suns so it stands to reason there could be a couple more looking for opportunities elsewhere.

8 wanting out may be a little extreme but 4 is more than plausible.

Well I guess it's agreed. Some caller on Trade Radio suggested #41 for Levi Casboult and the "experts" concurred

If we give up an early third for Casboult that would demonstrate how we love to be bent over by other clubs.

So the experts said the Blues will give us pick 41 to dump his salary to us?

Are they the same experts who said we couldn't ask too much for Adam Saad as we got him off the rookie list.

I've sort of been sitting on this for a little bit but thought I'd share anyway. I don't want to make our resident Scrimshaw-related lurker/poster upset. :/

My understanding on Scrimshaw is that GC will definitely trade him if a club is willing to pick him up. With this in mind GC won't just give him away for a bag of chips, but he's certainly gettable. Whether a club is willing to pick him up is another story, given his current salary and contract length.

Sunny_ what type of renumeration are we talking about here? He was a pick #7 and has just turned 20.

The 2016 top 10ers all signed 4 year contracts with $400K in their 3rd and 4th years. Losing him changes nothing, however, losing his potential over the next 10 years is costly. Seems academic since no club will pay the $400K.

I really don't know the details in that regard. Anything I would say there would just be pure guesswork. Like I said it's not quite a fire-sale type situation where we will just give him away for some token 50+ pick.

Purely taking a guess given his current production and contract, I would say we'd trade him for something in the realms of pick ~25 worst case. But that's just a guess on my part.

Yeah was thinking it would have to a top twentyish pick, otherwise tell whoever it is they're dreamin'

Now I am upset too :-) I hope your info is incorrect.

Wow that makes me so angry, we took Scrim knowing he would take time to develop and used pick 6 on him. If we weren’t ready to take the long road we shouldn’t of picked him up.

Then to just give him away makes me question the professionalism of club. It’s like they are trying to find ways to loose the remaining supporters.

Absolutely agree, Scrimshaw was always going to be a slow burn.

Alternatively the current staff, from CEO to Coach, had little-to-no hand in selecting Scrimshaw at all, nor did they negotiate the current contract he's on. One could argue that if they don't rate him the same as the previous people in their posts, then cutting him now to get as much value as possible for him is the professional move to make here. And not the sentimental one. He can't have another year just sitting in the NEAFL. If he does then the pick we could expect for him blows out from ~25 (going from what I guessed earlier) to ~40 odd.

Also, I did mention we aren't just going to give him away. If nothing comes up that satisfies us we will keep him and hope he starts to traject upward. But I guess pick 25 compared to pick 6 relatively speaking is giving him away.

Talking like it’s a done deal

Bartel "George Norlin-Smith isn't going to squeeze out Dangerfield or those guys at the Cats but was so strong in the VFL. If he can provide some good habits to the Suns list that will be great for them."
