I hope he stays, i'd hold him to his contract anyway, give him a decent spell in the team, he may want to stay long term
Agree, once he makes best 22 he will also feel happier. Similar, Brodie was very frustrated when not playing and now his agent talks about a long term success with Suns.

Would be so disappointed(that,s an easy emotion for a Suns supporter eh)if Scrimshaw left
I think he could be the player we wanted KK to be but never quite was
I’ve always rated him as the pick of the 2016 crop
Agree, it's up to Scrimshaw to take over KK position.

What is Brodie’s manager doing giving positive news like that? Has he not been told it’s open season on the Suns? I’m surprised they even aired that part, surely it doesn’t sell headlines. (wink face.emoji) But I really cant wait to see this kid next year. Hitting the gym hard already and about to enter the part of his career where he can rip it open. If he can push up towards 26+ touches a game getting the ball in the hands of Bowes, Fiorini, Weller, etc. then look out.

Also, conflicted on Scrimshaw. I personally have had my doubts about him making it since we drafted him but that’s not to say I haven’t been cheering him on hoping he proves me wrong. But it would still be very disappointing if he has indeed requested a trade home after only 2 years, with a position there for him to be won if he puts in the hard yards and after the investment we made on him. Then again, I don’t know what is happening behind the scenes and maybe he feels he won’t be given the opportunity at the Suns, or the new management is not behind him the way the one that drafted him was. Either way, can’t wait to be crapped on as a club for this.

I afraid I am the only one that think if Scrimshaw really homesick , he should let go by GC. Rozee can replace him .

With better facilities and second chance I hope the state league players GC pick will be better than previous year .

I don’t agree with taking into account his work elsewhere as it is irrelevant to the work he did at the Suns. I know the Suns environment was more challenging but he was dreadful. The Weller and Eagles work is just the worst examples.
Kk, Gorringe, Garlett, Lonergan, AhChee, etc, how many of the 2010 draft are left on the list
He was the head scout throughout or existence, putting it another way how many have have proven to be master strokes?? Saad maybe
Leslie, lemmens, schoenfield, Willis, Glenn, the list goes on. Hasn’t exactly nailed much

Excellent news on Brodie. But a bit disappointing on Scrimshaw.

I guess more so the potential we know Scrimshaw has but haven’t consistently seen yet. Will be interesting to see if any clubs offer something decent up to secure him.

May, Day, Lynch, Swallow, Thompson, Prestia, Dixon, Hall, O'Meara, Martin, Miller, Sexton, Wright, Fiorini, MacPherson, Ainsworth, Brodie, Bowes, Weller, Ballard and Crossley. Add to that the Free Agents and Trades, it isn't as terrible as everybody says.

Scott Clayton was sacked after he came out saying that draft prospects were telling him they'd leave after 2 years if he drafted them. Mark Evans came out this year and said that the Club would sue any player managers or agents who instructed kids to refuse to be drafted by the Suns. 8 years of NOT selecting players because the risk assessment showed they were flight risks and we have still lost our best talent.

I also disagree that Lonergan and Ah Chee are washouts. Lonners had a great run this year - is it him or the Club's inadequacies that see him get injured. The guy can match up on the biggest and best midfielders in the comp! Without him, be don't beat the Swans. Ah Chee is a forward, but Dew has him trying out new positions. The kid turns 21 next week, so give him a break.

What I have said about Scott Clayton is that he is a flawed genius. He did not succeed with the Suns, yet what has happened twice before with his lists is that his successors have transformed his failed lists into Premiers. I have also spoken before about the initial list build and the AFL's mistakes that Clayton had to make the best of a bad situation. GWS was set up differently and if Clayton had access to those kinds of resources we'd have won a flag by now!

Well thought out and pretty accurate overall BUT who's doing the talent scouting now? One of the current team was a stats guy for the Suns a few years back so not sure what he knows about recruiting and having an eye for talent? Who's the main man this year and will be handling the trade negotiations and drafting?
Craig Cameron is the General Manager - List and Strategy and he's got a recruitment team. They work closely with Jon Haines who is the General Manager - Football Operations. Then they have the Talent Academy, NEAFL and AFL coaching staff. It is a much different approach and I suspect Cameron has spent most of his considerable time on the road looking at Mature Age talent as well as draft prospects. See how they go.

Really not sure but I presume swap pick 41 with Geelong 55 for GHS will happen if GC really want Koenan or a mature age player that still available at that pick . Basically anything after pick 55 academy players come free .
Everything depends on Bailey Scott really. If he chooses a different club then our Draft strategy changes too.

You don’t earn your money with top 10 selections
Any BigFooty amateur will do that for you
You earn your reputation after pick 10 IMO
That’s where you need to judge Clayton
And it’s not pretty

Disappointed in Scrim. Would have been nice for him to suck it up playing in the reserves which will make it even more sweeter when he becomes a regular in the seniors. Seems like he is taking the easy way out like a lot of our other players

Is anyone else surprised with how many guns we have on our list??? Thorughout the year we’re constantly bashed for having the weakest list in the league however when a players name gets thrown up in a trade they are suddenly a gun, see Hall, KK, Barlow and Scrimshaw.....
Welcome to the board. Any commentator that says the Suns have the weakest list is plum ignorant. For starters, Carlton have the weakest list and it isn't even close. Brisbane have a rather ordinary list - they beat us by less than a goal with 39 fit players on their list to select from while we had just 27. None of the Lions best players were out, yet we had no Lynch, Hanley, Kolodjashnij, Ballard, Lonergan, Martin, Rosa, Wright, Day, Hall etc. St Kilda have a horrible list and would kill for half our young talent.

I’m in the same boat with Scrimshaw. Was hoping he’d be that player we drafted in the top 10 but he was another slow burn project player type we are famous for.
Apart from Lynch the other names tipped to leave I believe we’re all told to seek opportunities elsewhere if they can.

Again, not saying Clayton was perfect. Far from it. I am pleased he found gems like Hall in the Pre Season Draft, Saad and MacPherson in the Rookie Draft, Fiorini late in the 1st round, Miller in the 2nd round, and last year Ballard and Crossley in the 3rd round.

No, it wasn't pretty from 2011-13, but that was because the Suns were robbed of the same concessions that GWS received. We had to PAY GWS for the picks that brought O'Meara and Martin, strengthening their position while weakening our own twice over. They had $3 million more to spend in their salary cap, plenty more list spots to lay away developing talent while free agents played and a stack of high draft picks over and above anything the Suns received with an Academy zone that remains deeper and stronger than the Suns.

Straight out after only two years. Surely he's Joshin' ;)

No way on letting scrimshaw out. Top 10 picks cannot be allowed to pull the “homesick” card after 2 years with f all in return. We do it here in 2 years time it will be lukosius etc and we’ll never get anywhere

I think the referrals about the list quality was from Gerard Healy he said it’s worst list in the competition
