AFL tradewrap says we are considering key defender Jack Hombsch from Port. Contracted but Port want to move him on.

I don’t think port want to move him on. What I heard was we told him if he wants to pursue an opportunity elsewhere (to play 22 games) he can speak to other teams.

If he wants to move to become a starter elsewhere (he is too good to be depth) than it’s better we find out this year when he has more trade value than next year when he is out of contract

If he leaves we need to replace him as we have no one after him to step up to cover injuries/suspension/form.

He is also a super-high character guy.

What do you think Port would want for him?

What do you think Port would want for him?

I have very little idea what the club would want.

From a rational point of view a 3rd rounder doesn’t make sense. It would take that or more to acquire backup depth not half as good as he is. And we could get a 3rd for him next year uncontracted so moving him this year would have no benefit. Whether it’s early 2nd mid second late second straight or whether you guys would want a late pick back with him I don’t really know. It’s pretty much the kind of trade I don’t think either team dwells on too much though. A mature age player trade could come into it as well, especially a player who isn’t a fit for gcs.

Where it would become tricky is if Martin requests a trade to us. Apparently his management is looking into a trade to port. Hombsch would get
Tied up into that which would make it more difficult.

I also have no idea whether hombsch actually wants to move or is happy to stay at port in his current role.

Not sure where this info is coming from but doesn't sound that plausible

But I mostly just wanna give credit to that last comment.

A non-port supporting bigfooty poster that for years has had good intel.

Has only said martins management has been exploring a trade, so whether anything can come of it is another matter. Trades probably get explored all the time.

Conflicting reports coming out about the Suns
Robbie D’orzario yeaterday said stewy Dew been great for Brodie this year..

Now Aaron halls manager has come out saying Stewys being a bit more hands on with the players.

Then u have players in barlow and scrimshaw saying they never spoken with Stewy.

Maybe the managers are softening us up for something.
Suck up the clubs ass while they insert the knife in the back

Brodie told me the coaches had been quite clear with him on what areas he needed to improve on this year. He might have just been telling me what he thought I wanted to hear.

Yeah ive been hearing if martin was to be traded port are enquiring. Doubt the club would let him go but port will have the picks to tempt us with 2 1st rounds.

Sounds like unless they are best 22 or near enough stewie won't talk to you. Understandable he had a big job in his 1st year and had to focus on the prime players. Maybe when he has the coaches we wants around him he can feel comfortable to spend more time with fringe players.

Bit rough.
You hear hardwick and bucks give the waterboys life lessons and have tea partys etc

Thought the coach was meant to be the best friend and mentor to everyone who wears your teams colours

I highly doubt the players haven’t been told exactly where they individually need to improve, some may not want to hear it or even think they are better than they actually are with people telling them how hard done by they they have been. Remember many of these guys are just kids, how many listen when they don’t like what they are hearing.

As a new coach and minimal support you cant control everything. Bucks and dimma have trusted and experienced generals alongside them to direct the senior team members while they have tea parties. When he gets the coaches we wants in then he will need to learn to delegate so he can focus on a wider range of issues at the club. From what i hear thats the biggest transition from assistant coach to senior coach.

Being the lazy prick, can you or someone post a bio or some info on this guy for the numpties (i.e me)?

Edit: nevermind, the link helped thanks
Mid sized 3rd tall forward, lead up sort of player in the Tim membrey vain. Can clunk a mark, pretty good shot for goal. Still younh as well so has lots of improvement left in him. Not a hugely explosive athlete but he has enough wheels to play mid sized forward in the AFL

Seems that those moved on or told they should look elsewhere are making the most noise about being neglected.

If the rumours of our pick #5 ending up with you from a trade for May are true, who are you targeting? South Australian triumvirate of Luko, Rankine and Rozee?
I'd be doing that. It seems to me like the best chance of developing and then hanging on to at least a couple elite players. You might lose one of them but it'd be pretty tough to lose them all from a well-bonded group of four (including Ballard).

I'd think it's either Rankine or Smith.

Forgot about Ballard. I assume he and McAdam played together at Sturt? Could be another one to add to the group.
