I dont mind the trade. Considering our only academy players will be late picks/hopefully through the rookie draft, the points are fairly irrelevant to us. And seeing as we have said we want 5 picks inside 30, anything outside of that is useless to us. We now have:

2,3,19,24,29,58,79

That gives us the resources to move up again and with 19,24,29 potentially, seeing as Sydney just gave up 13 for 26 and 28?


Also interesting, Port now have 10 and 11 and Adelaide have 8,13 and 16. You would think both will now be all over us looking for 2 or 3. Would potentially deal with Adelaide for 3 if we were sure Rozee would last giving us lukoscious and Rozee + 13. But I think if we did that Port would jump above us with 10 and 11 and we would miss out. More of a draft night trade I would have thought.

24 and 29 to Geelong for Pick 12? Geelong doesn’t currently have another pick until 50, so 2 x top 30 picks might appeal?

Think they’re unlucky this year of all years.
4 top 10 prospects from SA, all friends, and we’re putting in a lot of effort with draft pairing to mitigate the go home factor + need a replacement for Lynch. Can’t see us giving up 2 or 3 for later picks when we could get Lukosius + Rozee/Rankine at 2/3. We also just don’t have enough picks to draft 5 or 6 + kids

Fully expect us to trade our 3 second round picks for say, pick 11 from north

I doubt it, as at a minimum we’d be getting 20 and 22 for Kelly from WC. It’s the highest pick we’ve had for a while too, so reckon we’d want to use it. IMO we’d only trade it to get into the top 10.

EDIT - and with now Dahlhaus, Rohan and Krueger, need to get some quality kids in. How bout 12 and 20 for pick 3?

It’s a crap situation, but it was all done with the old footy department hierarchy. And the new hierarchy don’t seem big fans of his.

He looks to be the only miss for us from that draft so if we can get something reasonable back, looks like we will take it?

Using his trade, we still might turn him into a positive somehow.

No he was putting forward the idea of us giving up picks 2 and 3, to get pick 1 and take Walsh as we need quality mids. It's a shocking idea and one that the same media nuffys would belt us about if we did it.

I listened to it. Cal did not say it at all. Just discussing what would be the best strategy for Suns from retention point of view. Walsh is his favourite. Some silly ideas from Cal recently.
