This is the reason I'm glad May was traded this year.
We might have got a better pick for him next year but would have effected our ability to

I would go as far to say that anyone who calls up trade radio is a nuffie.
Surely they realise that those guys don't know shit.

The only reason I would call up is to defend our club for getting hammered not to enquire about a possible trade.

For me it's his decision making that is the biggest let down.
Mainly stupid blatant free kicks... actually not that different to May.

He doesnt get moved off the ball too easily
If the old mantra of building your team out of defence still holds currency he'll be missed more than Uncle Tom
But I think his personal life scenario made staying too difficult
He may be another Sun that wins a Grand Final first year out!
Let's hope Craig Cameron's Moneyball let's us be competitive at least
The best chance for teams like ours is to hit rounds 1-5 like a tornado and scramble a couple of wins
I foresee a long dark winter from July to September though
 
I probably don't rate May as high as others on here.

My honest assessment of him as a player.. worth about pick 8-12
KK probably worth about pick 25 - 35

So in terms of points.. worth pick 3 - 6.

Would have been nice to get pick 5, but I think for the reasons that have been stated - good just to do the deal this year, get another top pick in a supposed good draft. Hit the reset button

I think I agree that he’s the best choice. Also I’d make him stand alone Captain. He’s hitched, settled, done the hard yards and Universally respected.
He can be a “follow me” leader who leads by actions not words.

Make the likes of Touk and Witts the Vice-Captains

Agree. Thompson was easily our best key defender in 2018.
 
so we all know where we stand with incoming mature experienced players and the elite draft talent we will get plus new coaching talent

It has been very active and a step change in the business BUT

The big upside could be we get real growth and AFL consistent on field performance in 2019 from Bowes, Fiorini, Ainsworth, Brodie and Ballard in their 3rd years

A big year from Wright and Martin we could see some real great games put together

I will say it now I cannot see us being over run and smashed in 2019 like we were this year
