I’ll be happy if we get either. Rozee is my preference due to his versatility and just a feeling he might stick around longer but Rankine is a genuine game changer with a big bag of tricks.
Rozee for me as well. Plays with team absolutely No1. Will be the next Selwood IMO.

Why not draft all three
2 Lukosius
3 Rankine
4 Rozee

Swap 6 , 24 ,29 to St Kilda
With 36,46 coming back .
If Port select Bailey Smith ,St Kilda get max king , if Port select Max King , St Kilda get Bailey Smith .
St Kilda receive upgrade pick to 24,29 compare to 36,46 .

Peel you're talking my kind of talk - believe it should be these three in that order (2,3,6) - safer as you propose (2,3,4).
Worry about them leaving if and when it occurs...

Yep 100% this is what we do. If St Kilda don’t say yes we could throw in Tom Nicholls to get them over the line since they’ve lost Hickey.

Only problem is how long until his head is turned by Adelaide/Port to go home and light up a showdown in front of 40,000 and his family at Adelaide oval? No way we can ever compete with that if he wants to be an entertainer for the masses.

Rankine has been the guy I want most since the start of the year, and nothing has changed there. In saying that though, at the moment with what has been said, I still feel more comfortable with Rozee at 3, who looks like developing into a gun in his own right. But it's really a no-lose situation (unless we trade out of 3 and miss them both). If we think we can get the most out of Rankine and keep him around and get him to buy into what we are doing then Im all for him. But I don't want to waste the pick for 2-3 years of Rankine before he leaves, while Rozee goes on to become a 10-year rock for his club.

Taking the safe option because you think that is a foregone conclusion is a losers attitude. We need to take the odd risk or we may as well give up.

Do you honestly believe the Sun's leadership group is up to the task? I can see where your coming from with the star power that confident players can bring to a team - I just don't think our club has shown anything close to the leadership required to get the most out of players like that and convince them to stick around.
We should be looking to draft those leaders first

I have no idea but we have to try. The moment we give up on drafting generational talent because we arent sure we can develop them is the moment we may as well give up.

He is nothing like Selwood. More like a slightly better Ah Chee.
Nah Ah Chee (8) is not even in pick 12 Curnow ,15 daniel Rioli ,16 himmelberg ,17 Doedee , 18 Gresham , 19 Burton , 20 Florini League in 2015 draft .
Drafting players is one thing but fail to develop them is another .

Certainly looks like he has the ability to play all over the park. Looked comfortable down back in the SANFL and appears to know where the goals are up forward. Give him a couple of years to put the weight on and he'll be a full-time midfielder as well. Looks pretty silky with his skills. Could see him slotting in round 1 next year with his versatility and performance in the SANFL this year.

I don't think St Kilda will drop two spots for a slight upgrade in the second round, and as for Tom Nicholls, that's not even legal at this stage of the game..

SA Club want them (Luko ,Rankine, Rozee) later ,eg send Bailey Smith , Chayce Jones , Caldwell to GC with draft pick like Wingard for pick 15 and Burton .

Better than holding to Pick 4 .
Do Port really willing to gave up pick 5, 10 or 15 for pick 4 or Adelaide 8,13,16 for pick 4 . Both club might still end up without Rankine and sell their farm up for just Bailey Smith or Rozee.

Too bad we didnt bring in jack watts.
Plenty of big **** and drugs in GC

Oh mate, jeez, that is so NOT needed.....maybe I'm just too old for this sh*t......

My mum once said, and I'm sure a lot of other mums once said......if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all....

GC - 2,3,6,24,29
Adelaide - 8,13,16,21,73
St Kilda - 4,36,46,67
---------------
Worse case scenario GC not picking Rankine ( pick swap )

Possible outcome
GC - 2,4,8,16 ,46
Lukosius , Rozee , Hately , ,Jez McLennan ,mitch Maguire
Adelaide - 3,21,24,36,67
Rankine ,
St Kilda - 6,13,29,73
max King , Liam Stocker , Ely Smith /Sydney Stack ,

Talented players change clubs all the time. Having them as 18 year olds isn't anywhere near that important. Our club lacks leadership, toughness and character - you fix these problems and the best talents will see what we have and want to come to us. It doesn't matter how many Jaeger Omeara's you draft if they have no incentive to stay.

But if Rankine request trade and a deal cannot be done , GC can still draft him in 2021 right ?

Does it sit uncomfortably with anyone else that May signed a 5 year deal with a team he knows nothing about then he couldn’t commit for more than 2 years at anytime including when he was Captain.
I wish him the best but I’m tired of us being a football wasteland

Does a little bit. The reality is that the Dees will seriously contend for 3-4 of those years whereas we are 3-4 years away from that. He did say his last contract would be long. Will be interesting to watch him and Lynch in the full spotlight.

He would have got 5 years probably 6 if he’s stayed here
He’s 27
You don’t see too many players pushing on after 32
Our day will come
And when it does it will be so much sweeter for having done it with players that bled for each other and the club

The only way we start winning is by having superstar talent
And the only way we can get that at the moment is by drafting 18 yo’s
Moneyball makes you competitive but not a destination club

Fair call, it just frustrates me

Plus when he says we have the right people in place now but can’t wait to get out

Steven signed a 3 year contract with us in 14 as a 22yo... Not that I expect that knowledge will make you feel any less uneasy. This club has to work on being the type of place that can attract as many A Grade free agents as it loses.
