I say we back ourselves to take the best talent. We’re not going to improve if we’re always scared to take the best players.

I also look at Rayner last year. All trade period it was about how he’d slide to pick 3 or 4 because he would want to stay in Victoria and he looks as settled as any draftee i’ve seen. Luko, Rankine and Smith/Rozee are a must imo
I suppose it depends on how you view best talent.
We have drafted countless introverts with little leadership qualities and there appears to have been little thought in regard to that.
Listening to Haines and Cameron recently, if the best player in the draft doesn't tick other boxes aside from skill they will bypass.
The Scrimshaw, Garlett, KK disasters are still open wounds.

Not sure what "tone of voice" you read my post in, but no arrogance on my behalf, nor was I commenting on your list, bad luck with injuries, etc. I made a simple observation that differed somewhat from the post I quoted. Nothing else.

I tend to try and take a realist point of view of my own team and opposition teams, which many fans struggle with because they're almost always looking for hope from their team.

I'm not being condescending, and you obviously know your team better than I do, but I still believe you're team is 5 odd years away from making the 8. It's going to be built on this years and next years drafted kids. With some of your more recent draftees providing the leadership.

I wish the Suns nothing but good luck in a general footballing sense, just not when we play them.
Not you. I consider you to be a reasonable Lions fan :-) Just disagree with your opinion that Suns are 5-6 years vs Lions 1-2 years from finals contenders. That's why I compared a bit the lists, mainly for myself. But I could be biased :-) There are some arrogant Lions fans on thread What's happening down South or something like that but every forum has some.

Yeah those wonderful Lions brethren of ours have a thread where they exclusively talk about us and a number of posters refer to us as THE SCUMS. Such unity........oh yeah and Tasmania gets a mention in that thread too a bit.

Dan Menzel delisted by Cats
what you think about offering a 1 year deal at low $$ (as injury risk?) - worth it?
Gee that seems really stiff for the bloke considering it was Geelongs doctors that ruined him this season by getting an injection of cortisone wrong. Would definitely take for a year contract. Not flashy but he kicks a lot of goals

Injury Risk and List spot limitation just not worth it this year . Until GC medical department improve no point add in more pressure on them with addition injuries prone players.

* More players rehab than playing every year .

The Lions have a large minority of Old Fitzroy supporters who are likely still wishing it was the VFL. It’s cute that they have a thread devoted to us.

In the various NewsLtd comments section I’ve noticed there are some Lions fans who come into any click bait Suns story and play the Tasmania Deserve A Team Mantra.
They couldn’t give a stuff about Tasmania what they want is to Monopolise QLD and take the fruits of the hard work of GC/North NSW Junior Clubs,Schools and Coaches.

Most of the fools in that thread who are against the Suns are either recent blow-ins or Tasmanians with an inferiority complex. The majority of Lions fans would reserve the term "scum" for Collingwood.

Yeah Yeah I do agree the vast majority of your fans are people of goodwill. No argument there.

Some of them simply resent the AFL for putting a second team into Queensland and hiving off some of our members (when we didn't have that many to begin with) instead of investing in better facilities for us. More fool them, they're living in the past. What's done is done and the Suns need to succeed if the game is to succeed in Queensland. Pity those who are too short-sighted to see it.

He seems really excited. Now I am excited too. Much better than Lynch's and May's fed up faces.

Too lazy to do my homework. If we use 5 picks and Koenen and Graham come as rookies do we still need to delist players? Or do we have enough list spots including both A and B rookies. Common 17er, you're on top of it.

Looking at todays website it shows 31 senior players incl Ritsca, so 30 once he goes to rooks.
32 then, once Holman and MacPherson go to the list. Add on Miles Ellis Hombsch and GHS =36 giving 4 spots open I reckon.
Rischa Collins Burgess and Corbett = 4 A Rooks. 2 spots open I think
Heron and Dawson Cat B rooks.....

We can only draft 4 unless we de-list one.

That's my take but my maths ain't so good at times....

Too bad we didnt bring in jack watts.
Plenty of big **** and drugs in GC

Actually what we have here are plenty of great young women who are educated, hard working and take on vocational careers that have strong values.
In regards to Drugs there is some about but nothing like the Inner Suburbs and CBD of the major cities.

Nice work

We still don't have confirmation if Holman will be upgraded.

Not only if he'll be upgraded, but I just found this on our website....

Holman said he was hoping to just play five games in 2018, but after playing every one of them he will be eyeing a similar return in 2019. He still has more to prove for another extension on his one-year deal so will be doing everything possible to ensure he remains in Stuart Dew’s plans.

Then I read this......

“After not playing AFL football in two years, Nick had a really good year for us in 2018. We brought him in to play a specific role and we think he did extremely well to play every match of the season. His tackling pressure was a standout this year but we were also really pleased how often he was able to hit the scoreboard for us. He was rewarded for his efforts with a contract extension and we look forward to seeing what he can produce next year.” – Stuart Dew

So I'm with you, I don't exactly know where he sits........
