King twins in SA scenario
Pick 1 Sam Walsh
Pick 2 Lukosius
Pick 3 Rankine
Pick 4 Bailey Smith/Rozee
Pick 5 Rozee / Ben King / Max King
Pick 6 Caldwell / Rozee
Pick 7 Jordan Clark
Pick 8 Ben king /Max king/Hately
Pick 9 RCD
Pick 10 Ben king /Max king/Hately .

YES

Getting Lukosius would be huge for port and they would be over the moon to do that deal

If he was genuinely considering Smith with the #1 pick then he 100% would trade that pick to SA team
Lukosius
Rankine
Walsh
Rozee

all these players will be selected prior to Smith which Blues could get with #5
Saints are into the Kings, Max before Ben, but what they need is Smith. They think they need another Riewoldt, but he was at his best with Kozzie and Gehrig. What they really need is an elite mid, but it suits us best if they take Max King and the tragedy of St Kilda will likely mean he's doomed to mediocrity and breakdowns. Narrow chance that St Kilda realise what they've got in local boy Bailey Smith, while Port would have done their due diligence on the Kings too. I

Twomey again on Road to the draft podcast said that Bailey Smith likely to remain in Victoria
Basically said wouldn't be going to a non victorian club.
With 1 pick to a Vic club from 5 to 12 he either knows nothing about his job or he's heard about some draft tampering

Still really missing that dominate quick agile midfielder
Miles GHS are like the titanic trying to get around a iceberg.

Really need to invest on big ball winners later in draft

We got our lynch and may replacements.

Suns mids

Slow- swallow Lyons ghs Miles Bowes scheer rischa

Average at best- miller brodie Fiorini

Pacey- ainsworth Martin Weller

The Draft pick that the Dockers used to select Sam Collins originally belonged to the Suns. We sent picks #35 and #61 Freo for pick #56 and a future 2nd, and then they picked Collins with the 1st pick of the 4th round.

I am not really into him as the third pick after Corbett and Burgess , hopefully he improve his agility and prove me wrong . Could turn out to be another bad pick if GC play him as one on one defender . Koenan and Graham is the future not sure why GC pick a third tall intercepted defender .

* Did I play your Role well .

Fair observation - but how do they compare against a Sydney mid field of Kennedy, Hannebery ,Parker , Heeney, Zac Jones, Kieran Jack for instance.
Suggest the difference is not in pace - but relative strength.
We have long been dubbed a team of outside flankers - speed and flashiness with no physical impact.
Same goes for our mids - need to be stronger - not necessarily faster...

Hannebery gone , Parker and Kennedy look likely to spend more time as HF next year , Jones is pretty fast , Kieran Jack last leg .
Next Generation that might spend more time in Midfield : Hayward , Papley , Florent , Ronke , Hewett , Callum Mills .

I'm interested to see how the three new mature players fit in.
Success at VFL , SANFL , WAFL level is not necessarily a key to success with us.
Hallahan (Liston Medallist) and Horsely (Sandover Medallist) are two recent examples.
Of the three - Collins is probably the best equipped to succeed as he's been through an AFL program before with Fremantle (much like the Holman experience)

So they are now old - what I was saying is in their prime they were never fast...but a brilliant midfield.

To be fair both Hallahan and horsely can't even train in proper environment . With Good facilities and proper planning now you would hope the new mature age recruits turn out better , in saying that nothing is guaranteed , GC won't be at the bottom of the ladder if everything is guaranteed.

I see on sports day they reported we are looking at taking
2. Luko
3. Rozee
6. Hately

As apparently hately is besties with luko and rozee, supreme character as well being school captain and his old man is school principle plus is a proven performer in the sanfl this year racking it up with central’s

Imo hately is a real stretch at 6

Everybody is just guessing, Hately is around pick 10 but if Dew like Hately character GC might select him at 6.

The thing is we really don't know how long these extra Rookie List places will be extended. Could be that 1, 2 or all 3 are gone in a year or 2. Collins intrigues me the most too because his class was there from the outset and he made it into an AFL Senior side. We can't really know Freo's reasons behind delisting him, maybe he was homesick or just they just didn't consider him a fit for their game plan. Corbett and Burgess are the speculative picks who don't cost us anything and will take their chances while they can.

When it comes down to it, a young man in any employment situation can screw up before they turn 23. They simply haven't matured physically or mentally to be able to handle full time commitment to professional life. For many of us, this period of our life is spent getting a trade or going to Uni and living the type of lifestyle that professional footballers can't really afford to live. However, with bags of cash and often no parents around to guide them, it isn't really any wonder that so many players crash out of the system early. The NFL model ensures that prospective players need to get through College before being drafted. There are no teenagers in the NFL, although sometimes players of exceptional skill get drafted at 20 or 21, yet there are others who don't debut until 25 years of age. Even then the money isn't always great - Jarryd Hayne was being paid the same as Jesse Joyce as rookie, which was a lot less than NRL wages for an elite player.

The point is, the Suns need these mature guys to provide depth. Koenen and Graham should both get drafted and within a few years should supercede these spare parts guys, but they need to be able to win their spots and have competition because key defenders simply don't emerge at 18 or 19. The same goes for Miles, GHS, Ellis and Hombsch, who really should be 2 to 3 years guys, yet if they can find another level and really make the Draftees of 2016-19 work to consolidate a Senior spot then they will earn new contracts.

Hately is a beast. Get him, either Rankine or Rozee, Lukosius and trade into the late 1st round for Jez McLennan. Goodbye go home factor.

Been watching a bit of Rankine again. Have always been on the Rozee train but if our recruiters are confident he's not a short-term flight risk we have to take Lukosius and Rankine with 2/3 respectively. Both could transform our team such is their ability. They team so well together already and it's like watching a young Nick Riewoldt and Jason Akermanis out there. Both so damaging. I'd then be equally happy if we picked up any of Rozee, Caldwell or Smith at six to top it off, depending on who is left and who we want most. Want to see more of Caldwell first, but get the feeling he could be that fast med/tall tough mid we are after if descriptions from those who know him are accurate. Rozee's class and versatility will be an asset if we can get him, and Smith should we land him will add real grunt and run to our engine room. Starting to think we just sit on our existing picks. Listening to Twomey, O'Halloran could quite well still be there around our #24. Buggar this picking a Bailey Williams type even should he slip through.

We simply must focus on bringing in midfield class through this and next year's draft. As per the thread on the main board, our midfield is widely acknowledged as the worst in the league. Make it even semi-competitive next year and we might surprise ourselves. It will take pressure off our back six, which will alleviate the loss of May, and help improve our scoring options up forward as well.

Bit harsh. Just so you know, when we take him right back off you, it’s nothing personal.
There aren’t too many returning to SA lately after being drafted. Even Burton had to be dragged back kicking and screaming.

Sad but true and I can understand why as we have a very unprogressive society.

Takeaway the drunken rednecks and the Gold Coast would be a great place to live.

Caldwell, O'Halloran, Ely Smith, Marlion Pickett. Might snag a couple out of this group?
