You’d think after getting banned several times for exactly this you’d have learnt to have a reasonable discussion without going straight for an insult.

I see he's been banned again lol
But actually I think that was an incomplete edit- because the first time I read it I thought "Whoa!"
Can't know for sure but I think he was meaning to say
"Whats more important on your resume.Your HSC score or what you've been doing for the past 3 years " (guessing but it makes sense)
I don't think it was a personal insult
I'm amazed how much the guy writes and edits in a day

Was probably his Johnny Bananas post yesterday that got him suspended this time.

I guess most of us dont have a problem with picking him up. He does offer some very good traits. Can kick goals and runs like the wind at 190cm. Allegedly tackles hard which appeals. He's essentially a free hit as a DFA, but every DFA has at least one major flaw in their game. And it's because of this that we have a problem with the tenure of his contract. Maybe it's a 2+1 trigger. Worst case scenario is that we can turf him a year early if he's no good. He wouldn't be on a big salary.

I am far more excited about Freeman.

I like the idea of a 2 year contract with performance incentives.
Games played etc..

In fact I think we should have done that with some of our other guys eg. schoenfeld and lemmens.
We could have offered them 2 years plus 1 with performance triggers. Its not like they were going to get given a long term contract at other clubs and turn this down. That way it keeps them with us at reasonable price if they perform well - whilst still providing the club some slack if the player doesn't perform.
We would be in a much more flexible position if we'd done this.

Add in McLennan, who actually wants to come us, and we would have to somehow improve 24 & 29 ‘if’ we wanted them both.
Interested in your thoughts on Adelaide and GC doing a deal. Seems to be lots of options. GWS would give similar options.
6, 24 & 29 for 13, 16 & 21 very little in points
6 & 29 for 13 & 16
6 & 29 for 8 & 21
6, 24 & 29 for 13, 16 and 2019 1st say around 10-12.

Going to be an interesting couple of weeks.

Don't think we're moving pack from 6 > 13
just to upgrade some later picks.
I mean why would we do that?
There are very good players at 6 which we would be forgoing whilst the difference between pick 16 and pick 24 is probably not that significant.

Whilst on points you say its close I don't think that is reflective of the profile of the reported calibre of the top 8 and then next 20.

Only one I think is even remotely possible is bolded... and even that.. no thanks.

Just interested to find out Suns supporters thoughts.

Assumption: Bailey Smith is available at pick 6 on draft night.

Would you trade pick 6 for Carlton's future first rounder (most likely a top 3 pick).

The advantage for the Suns is it allows you to split your picks across multiple drafts or even use as currency to target a big fish.

No. lots of the guys are really keen on Smith.

Also constant deferral of selecting these players doesn't help us at all (and we already have a future first round from Brisbane). having a group of highly rated players all around the same age means they all come into maturity around the same time and you maximise the time the peak window is open (gunshy from calling it a premiership window lol)

Agree with other poster.
Certainly seems like a good deal but no, don't think we would or should do that.
I think Dew will want players and Bailey smith is a top 3 worthy player in most drafts as per many draft watchers.
Its just delaying improvement.

We have our first and also Brisbane's first next year so probably a pick in the top 3 and another in the top 10.

Would rather use 3 top 6 picks this year when the top end is apparently elite.

As others have mentioned it’s not about the points, no one is taking 10 3rd rounders for pick 1 for example ( exaggerated for dramatic effect)

I think we would be open to a trade but it would need to be significantly in our favour or other wise there is no incentive

What about the disadvantages ?
1) traded pick 19, GC second Rd , third Rd for Brisbane 2019 first Rd .
2) Brisbane use pick 6 and pick 19 to allow May trade to Melbourne go through . ( GC get pick 6)
3) I don't think GCS do all the work to get a future pick and pick 6 for carlton .

My response was to initial post of if you want to move up to get players that want to be there so thats one benefit.
The second obviously depends on who you want at 6. If its Caldwell then dropping to 8 may make sense and he may even go at 13.
If you look at the last scenario it gives you 4 1st rounders this year and 3 next year which may give better balance going forward.

Highly doubt Caldwell is available at 13.
May be available at 8.

We also thought Clayton Oliver would fall to 7 when we swapped with Melbourne.

After reading the last few pages I understand the knock some have on this bloke but if it helps I'm looking at it like this. Out A. Hall In 68 and A. Hall that can tackle.
