Matt Rowell apparently a star and clear number 1.

I’d consider it.
Lukosius and Walsh this year.
Pretty decent chance we’d get next years number 1 pick between us and Carlton.
Nothing guarantee Carlton could be shit next year , but drafting pick 6 this year and let him get use to Dew game plan and what is required as full-time professional AFL footballers are more important and gave pick 6 a year headstart playing AFL/NEAFL and training in new facilities.

Stephenson or wait a year not knowing what pick you have , I select Stephenson.

Still really hoping we take Bailey Smith at 6. The kids attitude is exactly what the club needs right now. Someone who lives and breathes to be the best, and who's going to call people out for not putting in the work. In a period where we're trying to get 'culture-building' players, he seems like he should be the number 1 target.

Also warming to the idea of the King's at 2/3 provided they actually are happy to go interstate. KPP are obviously an issue for us and I'd rather we address that now rather than wait down the track.
I'd rather go 2 this year in a year we are expected to be low so they will be developed by the time we start rising up the ladder, rather than next year where it'll just make it a slower burn.

Midfield development from Fiorini, Brodie, Bowes, Ainsworth, Weller, Miller and Swallow may mean mids aren't as important as we think they are this year anyway.

I kind of agree but there are no outside mid like Isaac Smith , Bradley Hill,Duncan type that run all day with speed and skill .

Hearing alot in melbourne Bailey Smith is a mummas boy..
similar to Scrimshaw.

Wants to stay in Melb.

Whether his professionalism continues without mumma.
No one knows

Cal Twomey said numerous times that unlikely Bailey Smith goes to an interstate team.
Must have made it pretty clear to teams etc..

I know this is only a tenuous thread to draft and trades but it would be a help to me if anybody out there can set down in an easy to understand style just how the kids move up the ladder after leaving their high school/college competitions. There seems to be Under 18s, Academy competitions and much more before they reach draft stage and I assume there are also various interstate leagues where they also can play (SANFL etc). I'd just like to know so I can follow the better kids as they move through the various stages of competition - websites would be an advantage to know as well I guess. Here's hoping someone has the time to make it all clearer.

in regards to the "worst list in history" comments re us I tend to think we may be the best TEAM in 2019 that we have ever put on the park. Less raw talent and superstars yes but waaay more hardened, proven, competitive players that I think we keep us in games longer and probably less likely to fall away when games are there to be one in the third and fourth quarters, more like the Western Bulldogs who had quite a few no name roughies who played above themselves in 2016

I think we are going to see a tougher side on the park that is more physical and less fragile and will be less likely to make poor decisions under pressure or rushed to dispose

Sean Lemmens excluded of course, be amazed if he is best 22 in 2019 though, can stink it up in the NEAFL hopefully

If Lemmens gets a game given who's coming in, I'll be devastated. He should do the honourable thing and retire allowing us to spend the money he's getting on someone with longevity. There is no way he'll still be around once this contract term is up - is it 2 or 3 years to go?

I really don't think Lemmens deserves the abuse he gets on here. His forward pressure creates scoring opportunities. His courage in contests is amazing. He just needs more composure with his disposal, particularly with set shots on goal. I've seen him kick goals in the warm-ups, so he's got the skill. He just needs that composure.

Think that when MacPherson comes back he’ll get squeezed out. Darcy applies more forward pressure and has the added benefit of actually kicking goals too. In saying that, I agree he cops some unwarranted abuse. Sticks a strong tackle and he’s a good clubman. Just needs to actually kick more goals

he was just putrid last season, he didn't even look like an AFL player in the way he approached contests, marking duels, running patterns or getting into space once he had the ball - I have friends who also talk about his pressure and tackling but if you really watch him and only him he is like a pinball with no real logical plan or purpose - his whole kamikaze routine really doesn't have any fabric to it only to mask the fact he is woefully out of sorts and not relative at AFL level currently in my opinion

I think Darcy has some real focus and toughness, he is unique in our lineup and when fit and confident he is one of my favourite players to watch

Absolutely agree. We should support Suns players not abuse. Especially the ones who put our team first.

Interesting in the Murdoch article on afl.com we’ve earmarked him for kick ins possibly.

Will be an interesting rule change for us. Full forward has to be 15 metres back from the goal line and the player kicking in can just hare off with the ball without kicking it to himself.

Our mate Browny on SEN, has just stated that if Suns offer Carlton 3 & 6 for #1, it's a "no brainer" and Carlton should accept it.

It stands to reason then that it's a diabolical trade on the Suns part...

I believe we need to take 2 3 & 6 to the Draft.
I think if we can do that and get Walsh and Lukosius in, that would be a big win for us.
