So does the club start trawling some red herrings to put off the other clubs as to who we are really interested in?
Or is it going to leave that to us?

tigs2010 is your draft expert and has great insight into who we will want. PM him heavily.

Just been skimming over the round 1 draft picks we have

Carlton - 1
Gold Coast - 2 3 6
St Kilda - 4
Port - 5 10 15
Dogs - 7
Adelaide - 8 13 16
GWS - 9 11
Geelong - 12
Freo - 14

Richmond - 17

That makes 9 teams getting picks before us

Think we are in a great position to secure that inside mid we need with...

-Gold Coast and GWS going to want to take groups of players from the same teams to try and combat the go home factor

-Port and Adelaide trying to get what’s left of the SA boys that are ranked so highly

-Dogs will be going after a tall with Adams out the door

-Geelong and Freo currently having pretty decent inside mid stocks at the top level and in WAFL and VFL

-Carlton and St Kilda picking off the early hybrid inside/outside top end talent

Definitely going to be some sliders this year with a small amount of clubs holding all these early picks

Top 2 is set in stone I think. After that it's hard to know what is going to happen with Gold Coast, Adelaide and Port Adelaide having three picks each before we pick. Also will have a couple of academy bids before we pick.

Guessing we are going to continue to explore swapping picks as well as seeing what we can swap on draft night.

Perfect result for me would be Collier-Dawkins with our first; 193cm, 88kg

Then upgrade our second to take Ely Smith; 188cm, 86kg

Two big inside mids to go with big Tom up front would be a very productive off-season :)

Stocker with our first for me.

Just seems like an inside bull.... Not claiming to be a draft expert.

So with the large number of outs compared to only 1 in, one would think some of our rookies will get promoted right?

Moore would be a certain promotion.

Baker? Chol? Eggmolesse-Smith?

I'd say Port will try to grab Rozee now they've moved up to Pick 5
Still could have Adelaide try to live trade further up on draft night too
If I was the Suns I'd offer 6 & 24 to Saints for 4 & 36 so I could take Lukocious Rakine and Rozee. 3 SA boys that could move up and live together means less likely to want to leave. If not take the King twins and Bailey Smith and start the rebuild with a great foundation.

They probably would have been able to take Rozee with 5, but Brisbane and Port managed to swap it. I still have no idea why Brisbane allowed that to happen when they were already throwing in Sam Mayes.

I reckon that the top ten are 'set in stone' (just variations on where they fall)

After that maybe Sydney Stack (WA lad) to Freo at 14, leaves GWS, Geelong, Adelaide x2 and Port with 5 picks before ours.

There's a few inside mids available then (RCD I worry about cos he's a big unit that might have out muscled the younger/smaller guys) but Stocker, Chayce Jones, Jye Caldwell and Duursma will still be there. So one of those should fall to our pick.

Posted this in the trade thread but reckon it belongs in here more especially given that the draft is now the main focus.

My preference from 10 minutes of reviewing the prospects...
  1. Riley Collier-Dawkins-At 193cm & 88kgs is is the size we need as an inside mid
  2. Liam Stocker-Inside mid but is as good outside and has good disposal
  3. Xavier O'Halloran-Another inside mid simular size to Dawkins.....and we need an X-factor......
  4. Ian Hill-Class. You can pass that up at your first pick
  5. Luke Valente-Bishop has him rated at 31 so may slip to our 2nd pick but doubt it. He is SA captain...Doubt the SA teams would let it happen 3 years in a row
