This ×10000. Nank will get his rest by not having to cover the whole ground .So agree with this. Getting pretty sick and tired of seeing all the bleating for more ruckmen. The fact is no one we get is making an iotas difference in competing against the very best. You cant play 2 x pure rucks in the same side either imo.
Hitouts and hitouts to advantage are the most overrated stats in footy. We just need Lynch to ruck in the fwd line(no centre squares) and we're fine. nank will patrol a kick behind play and keep doing his thing around the ground which he is one of the best in the business at
Fully concur , they’ve added beef to their frames , another pre season and I expect them to be beating the house down . They will be better prospects than some big lug that was playing in Yarra valley only a year or so ago and got a kick at vfl in first seasonWe outscored our opposition with Grigg in the ruck this year. Not as much as with Nank, but we were still ahead.
Having said that, I agree his time as ruck should be over.
Chol and CJ are already on the conveyor belt.
Everyone knows tigs2010 has massive off-field issues, but what does that have to do with Marlon Pickett?
Chol. Expect him and/or CJ to get games next year.

On the ruck depth, I was about to post a long post on why we need ruck depth this draft in case Nankervis gets injured, but I just realised something. Are they not planning to introduce a mid-season draft next year? We could leave a rookie pick unused and list spot open in the event that we need to rookie an emergency ruckman if Nankervis cops a long-term injury. If we like what we see, we have priority on drafting this ruckman. If not, we then let him go at the end of the season. So agree with this. You forgot the best of our youngsters: Bolton. In 2019 we have Markov(15 career games) Soldo(8) Moore(8) Baker(3) Garthwaite(2) Chol(1) Balta CCJ Naish & Miller (all yet to debut) plus up to 5 draftees who will be pushing for opportunity, with Menadue(33 & on last chance) Graham(3rd season & role change) Higgins(2nd year another preseason) all looking at stepping up as well.
You are right, Soldo must be kept on for backup if Nank goes down, but he won't play in tandem. Nank needs a chop out during games, I hope Lynch is on board, or someone besides Grigg who is getting games, Balta perhaps. Nank is tough as nails anyway, he doesn't go down.Judging by the comments in here about the ruck situation it's clear a lot of people haven't watched a lot of Soldo at the VFL. He would be ample coverage for Nank if he went down with an injury. Soldo loves to get his hands dirty throwing his weight around to help his midfielders, it capable of clunking contested marks or getting back into D50 and giving them a chop out. Can push forward to kick goals from marks or general play. I wouldn't play him in the same side as Nank, but as a first ruck option when Nank needs a break or is injured it is a no brainer in my opinion.
CCJ will be the long term first ruck option, which won't be for another 3-4 years unless something drastic happens, while Chol is good enough to be a second ruck option if we didn't want to put the Ferrari (Lynch) in the ruck next year to ensure no further issues with his knee. There is no need to go out and pick up another ruck. Bring in a new crop of midfield talent, both inside and inside/outside types and reboot the list.
It would mean over the last 4 drafts we would have added talls in Balta CCJ Garthwaite & Miller, midsized options in Higgins Graham Naish Baker & Bolton plus Lynch and this years draftees. It's a fair list regeneration designed to keep us successful for a long period of time.
There is no reason to panic or stress that our depth is shot as it's clearly not if people actually stopped and thought about it rather than simply reacting to the names that have been moved on.
We've lost C.Ellis (10 games last 2 years) Lloyd (15 games last 2 years) Miles (6 games last 2 years) Conca (24 games last 2 years) & Stengle (2 games last 2 years). Anyone claiming that they were important to our success heading into 2019 is kidding themselves. Conca Stengle and possibly Lloyd were going to be re-signed for next year with Conca the only one who'd be pushing for a spot in the 22.

We could do that, and you don't have to leave a rookie spot unused. If a player cops a long term injury during the season you can replace them in the midyear draft. But if Nank went down early in the season you'd have to wait til mid year or if he went down in the 2nd half of the season after the mid year draft then it's too late.On the ruck depth, I was about to post a long post on why we need ruck depth this draft in case Nankervis gets injured, but I just realised something. der ehThe grigg 2nd ruck experiment, while very effective, can't continue with the ruling that ruckmen can now take the ball from a throw in or bounce and not be pinged holding the ball.
Correct , it it wasnt exposed already with Grundy schooling him, this new rule has consigned our tactic to historyThe grigg 2nd ruck experiment, while very effective, can't continue with the ruling that ruckmen can now take the ball from a throw in or bounce and not be pinged holding the ball.
Just been checking out the prospects, tbh outside of the top 7-8 I didn't find a whole lot to get excited about. Sydney Stack looked the best to me, Twomey doesn't even have him in his top 30. Stocker could be okay, couldn't find much vision of him and apparently there's a knock on his running capacity.
They both judge more on junior output than senior potential, I reckon. I'm not sure either of them knows what skills/strengths will translate and what will hold a kid back. Like Twomey, I doubt either of them played footy past 13.
They are both terrible writers. Balmer (Bishop) wrote that "neither Adelaide team has yet to make an offer" for GC's picks.
Don't see a problem..
Most sides have one Ruckman and pray he's not going to get injured!
You forgot the best of our youngsters: Bolton.
I kind of have the opinion that Stocker not having a great fitness base and still being able to produce the numbers and footy he has this year as a positive. There is upside their in my opinion. You'd think he could only improve in an AFL system.
Great kick of the footy - Prodigy would really really like him!
YesCrash the pack take a contested grab!?!

Nup.Pretty sure Cal Twomey was a potential draftee and was over looked or injured. Pretty sure I saw his stuff on Facebook ages years back.

Because I've watched him closely from before we drafted him. Because he torched the Swans for a half at 18. Because I watch the VFL.Why do you think Bolton is the best of our youngsters? Club gave him a 1 year deal. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of our long term faith.
I must have blinked...
Well then we need ruck depth. I don't think Soldo or Chol being a main ruck will work out, so Nankervis goes down and we are done against the teams with a strong midfield. As we saw in the PF, our backline can endure only so much until the floodgates start to open.We could do that, and you don't have to leave a rookie spot unused. If a player cops a long term injury during the season you can replace them in the midyear draft. You should have gone ahead and posted your thoughts on ruck depth. There's some interesting observations in this thread on Soldo's ability. Facts are that he played
15 VFL games this year took 10 contested marks and kicked 4 goals. http://maps.sportingpulse.com/nfnn/...t=1-118-150491-477472-26138786&ocompID=477472
Oh that experiment was dead as soon as the final siren of the PF went. The grigg 2nd ruck experiment, while very effective, can't continue with the ruling that ruckmen can now take the ball from a throw in or bounce and not be pinged holding the ball.
