Nank holds his own more than well enough for the most part, sure Grundy/Gawn will get a hold of him at times but no shame in that. The more pressing point is what happens when Nank needs a rest, the Grigg experiment is obselete with the new rule changes but was probably done anyway after Collingwood really exposed it in the prelim.

Who plays that second ruck role is the big question, common consensus is that Lynch with his knees won’t be going near the centre bounces but might do a bit around the ground in the forward half. CCJ seems like he could be the answer but he won’t be ready for a few years. Is Soldo versatile enough for us to play him as a second ruck? I’m not convinced. Some have suggested Balta will be groomed for that role but he’s still very young and would be undersized in the ruck.

I think there’s some merit at looking to draft a state league ruck with a later pick, especially if they have a bit of versatility to be able go forward and we don’t have to just plonk them on the bench for the majority of the game while Nank rucks.

Well said, and what most with an interest in a 2nd Ruck of enough quality are saying. It may even be possible to get a RFA after Oct31. Could even be available before if someone knocks back a new contract with the view of becoming RFA. We'll know in a week or so.

He's kicking's fine. In fact, more than fine. He roosts it a long way and had the lowest direct turnover percentage (by foot) in the TAC Cup.

Someone else mentioned it and I agree that Ely hunts the footy like Tucky used to. Not the same player of course , but has some similar traits and his upper body sometimes looks a bit similar at times. I'm amazed people were hoping he would slip to out 2nd rounder. Clubs out there will take him second round easily after they have grabbed a more polished type in a pick before.

Ely is the only draftee ive seen play live only once but he looks afl ready to me ,big solid dude wide shoulders good pace no squibbing contests id be happy if hes our no 1 pick
Seen him a couple of times this year, he is an extracting bull. Kicking is a little questionable, like it is pretty good, not elite from what I saw. But he is an accumulator. And agree ready to play. As is Stocker and O'Hallaron. All 3 will get AFL games next year with the clubs that select them.

**** it. I’m sold. Email the club Rambo, make it happen.

My gut tells me the Tigers would be fully into Ely Smith..... inside bull and ready to go. Just what we need.

Hearing Stocker will go before 17, RCD also. so we will still have a decent decision in which inside mid to take at 17.....

Surely we snap him up early to be safe?!
On a serious note, I wonder if we have had a chat with Tommy Sheridan, played some good footy a few years back, kind of fell out of favor. Got some wheels on him just unsure how he goes with the contested game.... thats my one flaw on him...... almost 25, seasoned..... might be worth a look late on..... you wold think a few clubs looking at him.

Liking the idea of O'Halloran at 17 and Valente at 37 if we don't trade up. Would give us a couple of young inside midfielders who would be in line for replacing Cotchin and Martin as full time mids down the track.

I like stocker from reports ive seen but i think the bigger ely smith will suit us better anyway

If you believe Valente is going to be around at #37 i suggest you have a drink

Your going to need 1

Mentioned him in the recent additions then forgot to go back. Tipping he'll go past Castagna and Butler by seasons end.

Tipping he plays 5-8 games for the year and heads west at the end in a trade..

Hope not, as I rate him but that’s just where I think he’s at.

Hope and belief are 2 different things.

Ok. It’s not like his trade value is going up in 12 months. I’d be surprised if he plays more than 6 senior games next year. And that’s pushing it.

My opinion is the jury’s out. Has talent but there’s clearly questions on his commitment.
I actually thin he can go ok, which will mean his price goes up. Just needs to get his tank better.

I would be wrapped with that result, but as has been said, I doubt Valente slips that far
Hopefully we can trade further up the draft to get the two of them, especially if RCD is already going to be gone by 17

OK. So who does he tip out from the senior side? He’ll compete with Castagna IMO. Who in my view is physically superior to Bolton for that role.

He’s not a mid. So who goes out for him to push his price up? Don’t see it.
