Going by the speculation looks like Towner, Weller and Chol will be rookie pick ups? I don’t mind this if it’s the case than use the rest of our picks on kids

First pick being best big bodied midfielder and the others just straight up best available regardless of position

Been busy with work lately soon been out of the big footy loop for a while

there was an article recently with all 'bargains' that became guns or valuable players of the last 10 yrs or so....these are like really late picks and rookies and leftovers....

Anyway, I shoved them into excel, sort them on positions, there were about 25 defs, 15 fwds, handful of mids...and lastly, a few rucks (Gawn)....but anyway....late picks are all speculatives...no way known anyone can claim to 'know' that hey that pick 50 there is going to be a star. So if were to speculate on a late pick I'd go for a defender.

Coupla names of the defs were Rance and McGovern....

(can't find that article anymore, it was either on AFL or the Age)

ahhh..gotcha:

ha, interesting...no Rance or McGovern..must have my wires crossed with some other article ?!?!

stupid me put Guv as a fwd !!! he's there...but no Rance

Can see THE_GUN having kittens when our pick rolls around and Stocker and Taylor are both available.

Yeah exactly. Pick 1 or 2 and back yourself in that you picked the right ones. Picking more screams you are planning to fail.

Normally I’d agree but we’ve just lost 4 inside (ish) mids. No they weren’t great but we’ve lost any depth in an already light on area.

I have no problem targeting 2-3 inside mids like we did with the talls last year because we’ve got a few spots to fill. We probably need a HBF and a Ruck too but inside mid is a priority.

Port to █████ with 5,11 & 2019 1st.
In B4 Lukosios is a big flop just like every other big key forward thats drafted in the high end of the draft lately.

Also I wouldn't mind McHenry at our 1st depending what happens with our next.

Someone who runs 30km for fun...
Yes please.

Actually kinda coming around to him

Curtis taylor though, no thanks

Agree, I'd actually prefer McHenry over Stocker now.... I never thought I'd say that. I feel dirty.

But still am obsessed with Ely Smith, can't help but think he'll be a massive steal for whoever gets him.

Interesting about Ely Smith, he's a big unit and because of that tended to dominate on the inside. Reckon clubs will factor that into their rankings, which may see him slide to our 2nd pick

I think the thing with Ely is his dodgy hand-below-the-ball kicking style. Seems to be the Elephant in the room because he ticks so many other boxes and smashed it at the combine. Otherwise he'd be higher up the order. If we select him that would be three suspect kicking actions on our list along with Moore and Garth. I'm all for for substance over style but he seems to be situated right between our first and second picks. A reach at our first whereas Stocker uses it beautifully on both feet but is a little slower and O'Halloran is a neat kick but has pace to burn.

Hopefully Ely doesn't get held back by his kicking action as an inside mid he's probably gonna be dishing it off by hand most times anyway. Fascinating draft this one with McHenry, Hill, Stocker and maybe even Collier-Dork (likely to go to Giants) around our pick. Then there's Valente, O'H, Taylor (risky but with the most upside and talent to burn) and a bunch of solid mids 15-35.

Edit: Just saw that Ely has been added to the draft list of invitees. Usually means a few clubs are interested as a first rounder !! I wonder who has him in their sights???

Maybe Suns do both deals with the SA Clubs for pics 2 and 3 (Lukosius and Rankine both possible flight risks) and end up with a clutch of first rounders this year and next.

GC 2018 - 5,6,11 and 13 (King twins 5+6 ?) and
2019 - Pick 1 and Adel 1st and Port 1st.

Wowwee rebuild.
