Amazed this was even a discussion. An act is legal or it’s illegal; the resulting injury just can’t come into it. You can get concussed from a tap on the head - the concussion isn’t proof that the incident was illegal or otherwise.

Also shout out to Lecca for making me care that he’s available for selection, never thought I’d be in that position again.

Exactly.
Heaps on the board getting hysterical that because the dude was concussed that Lecca was bound to cop a suspension. It was never going to be cited as it was a completely legal action.

The outcome of an action has never been the first thing looked at despite popular opinion. The first thing that is adjudicated is if the action that has taken place is illegal (high contact, sling tackle, raised forearm etc). If not then the player is cleared as we have just seen.
If the action has been deemed illegal (whether by intention, reckless, careless etc) then the impact level and outcome is assessed to determine the severity. A concussion in this case invariably leads to a higher penalty than no concussion.
No doubt a concussion will make the MRP take a closer look at an incident that might have otherwise not been looked at but if the action was legal then play on.

Probably watching our game twice.
At least the Port Adelaide 'doctor' doesn't write the report for everyone's games.
