How are the domestic competitions going to work? 1 month break for the WC?

Would need to be more than a month you’d think. Taking into account preparation, training camps etc for each team. Which is usually around 2 weeks before the tournament.

In addition, there’d need to be a rest period afterwards too. Overall, a break of perhaps 6-8 weeks could be on the cards.

Both of them were not starters in 98, yet to peak etc. Henry would be there in a heartbeat if that was the case :D

And so would Pires!
Henry played every game, either as starter or sub, except the final. He was due to come off the bench in the final but but Desailly was sent off at 68 minutes so France went defensive. He scored 3 goals whereas Giroud hasn't got one yet.

It's ******* ridiculous and needs to be fixed. The tournament should be taken from Qatar as soon as this current World Cup is over.

FOOTBALL fans’ worst fears have been realised after it was revealed that Qatar 2022 would indeed be the first-ever (northern) winter edition of the tournament.

The 2022 World Cup will kick off on November 21 with the final played on December 18 — just a week before Christmas.

A winter one would work in Australia. Like june-july.

We knew this years ago? From an Australian perspective it should be good. Better weather to roll out of bed in the middle of the night for and the media will give it full attention with no AFL and NRL games.

Any recommendations for a venue in Melbourne to watch the final? Preferably one chock full of Croatians or Frenchman for atmosphere...

Like I said though, nowhere near his prime.

Didn't they release the theoretical schedule for the PL with a winter WC and there was almost a game every day for some patches? Ridiculous.

What's stopping the Eurppean leagues telling FIFA to fek off? Should just refuse to release the players which they can normally do for any matches not played during an international match window.

The majority of people wanted the tournament taken away from Russia and they’ve done a superb job in a tournament that has gone without incident. 2022 will remain in Qatar and they will do a great job at it.

Way to go Poms. Worst semi finalists in history. 3 losses haha. Who did they actually beat? Sweden? lmao

Tunisia - 90 min winner. Panama 6-1 Sweden 2-0

Panama lost all 3 games in their first world cup tournament. scored 2 and conceded 11. Needed penalties to beat Colombia missing their best player. Same old England. Scoring from set pieces and penalties etc.

Bye Bye Engerlund.

At least they got there through fair play. South Korea in 2002 on the other hand...

Russia is Europe but different.

Qatar I can't see many people travelling to. Comes off as a less interesting version of United Arab Emirates. Who wants to walk around Westfield shopping centres for a month?

They will when there’s a global event like the World Cup going on. Many if the fans who have gone to the World Cup in Russia will want to go in Qatar. There will always be massive fan interest in a FIFA World Cup.
