1-0 was pretty flattering for Los Ticos. They offered nothing in the second half and Mitrovic fluffed some easy chances. Could've easily been 3-0.

And the VAR does not need to be used for yellow cards. Pens, over-the-line (i.e. Lampard's ghost goal in 2010) for sure but if refs are going to check to see if a foul should be a card slows the game down unnecessarily.

VAR was used in case the ref thought it should be a red.

VAR in this cup isn’t adjudicated by some dickhead failed ref like Strebre telling the ref what he’s seen.

The VAR team in the cup tell the ref he needs to check something. The ref then checks it for himself.

He decided, luckily for us, that Prijovic has swung back but didn’t intend to smack him in the face, so only a yellow.

If he thought meant to smack him in the face then it’s a red.
