News 2018 Fixture Request

Isn't that extremely lucrative for the club though?

At least purely on seats we make three times more from KP seats than MCG (on average). So 34,000 at KP would trump any MCG crowd on that basis.

It would be interesting to know if the extra 40,000 odd will buy enough merch, shitty beer, etc. to make up the difference.

Pretty tough fixture.

Only 1 QLD game is disheartening.

I thought the opposite.

Hawks, Dees, Swans, Tiges and Suns x2.
9 games at GMHBA.
1 trip to Perth.
No home games at ES.

Happy with all of that.

Only slight concern is that the last 6 or so weeks of the year is pretty soft going off this years form/finishing positions. Could be a positive if players are struggling with injury and being able to rest some guys but I think you want a good mix of tough and easier opponents running into finals to 'sharpen the sword'.

of course our KP games are almost all on a Saturday...
when the missus worked on a Sunday before we had our youngest... guess which day most of our KP games were on...

Very quick analysis:

- we play Ric, Mel, Syd, GCS and Haw twice
- 9 games at GMHBA
- 7 games at MCG (2 home)
- 2 at Adelaide Oval
- 1 each at Etihad, Metricon, SCG & Perth

By day:
1x Monday
2x Thursday
3x Friday
10x Saturday
5x Sunday

Pretty happy with the draw, 9 games at home and 7 at the G so we can actually be a bit more prepared for finals, glad we've got the Hawks double up instead of Collingwood. I'm not sure why we always have to wait 4 weeks to get a home game though.

Any oddities?

Eg: playing a team twice in 3 weeks before round 9, while not playing another team until round 21?

adelaide, port, west coast and sydney all interstate games. will be lucky to win one of those.
Adelaide: Lose
Port: Win
WCE: Win (We are the better team, and their advantage has gone now)
Sydney: Lose

I see a 2/4, maybe 3/4

We play Melbourne & Sydney twice before playing Brisbane

We play 4 of our 5 double ups twice before playing Freo - GC the exception.

Fitting 17 teams into 22 games is always going to have us play teams twice before playing other teams for the first time. No different to only playing WCE in round 3, just how the draw works.

Another interesting note, Etihad and MCG have taken a 1 game hit from 2017 (both down to 45 games each), as a result of Geelong playing an extra 2 Home games at CatPark. Richmond's Cazaly game has been transferred as a home game for Bulldogs at Mars Stadium (next year they have 2). On top of this, Melbourne continue to play 2 games in the NT, Hawthorn 4 in Tassie and North 3 in Hobart.

This year is the last year of Melbourne's NT contract, with talk that it won't continue into the future. Will we be able to grab those 2 games, or (as I expect) will the MCG and Etihad get their 46 games back each?

Friday Night fixtures

Geelong: 3
Carlton: 4

How does that rabble get 4 games on Friday night (+ 1 Thursday)
The mythical Big 4 lives strong in AFL thinking

From a member viewpoint not having Friday night games isn't that big of a deal as more Cat fans get along to Saturday night games, from a commercial viewpoint not ideal as the exposure is a little less limited.
