I reckon he could have said it once and made his point, instead of at every single ball up...
BT is the kind of person to see a hammer and drive that nail in using tiny little dinky strokes because he has a fat thumb.

He'll get there, but you'll spend 45minutes of his expositions doing so because he's unsure if you can use force and drive that nail in by 3 concise strokes.

GT media manager, footy boss, trainer, medico, bus driver, legal, maintenance for the hot dog machine & pie warmer.

Media managing; ensure toot toot and doo doo have a brilliant pow wow.
Medico / footy boss; turn a blind eye to internal developments and bring in money through deflection on how shit umpires and AFL House is.
Trainer; itinterary - Movies 2hr, dinner 3 hours, wines? 4 Cross country in Alberta - Priceless.
Maintenance; bring in Dippa for dimmies to compliment pastries and processed meats.
Bus driver; To keep Butts in check and if required send him to rehab.

You know it makes sense.

I know GWS have a lot of injuries however last nights heavy defeat against an undermanned & young Cats team is unacceptable. They also underachieved in the past two years. They should be winning flags with the amount of talent on their list. As soon as the players who re-signed for expected flags realise they are that far off it they’ll leave. Cameron would be under the pump.
i

Yes, they might do, but probably not to come to club equally far off one unfortunately :(

Footy this year is pretty crap.

So many teams are playing the same scrappy style
Game is trending that way as teams take a defence first approach. instead of outscoring, the focus is to choke your opposition as much as possible.

Been happening for about 12 years now and has evolved to ridiculous levels.

That's why a team like Adelaide got rolled in the GF last year.

Bombers play a similar unsustainable pressure gameplan to us. Against teams like the Hawks who know how to beat it, they look good for awhile then concede bunches of goals.

Can't help thinking coaches like Richo and Woosha are just behind the times with the zones, tactics and pressure and how to make it all work compared to some of their collaegues.

Maybe.

Starting to think the draft system coupled with FA is having the effect of having teams like the Hawks, Swans and Cats to never go down the ladder

Tigers had the superstars prior to the compromised draft, Bulldogs seem to be the outlier and a one off.

The high quality players gobbled up over the compromised drafts seem to only go to the top teams therefore making FA pretty useless.
Look at us Carlton and Essendon. Us and Carlton have gone backwards.

Essendon pick up top up players in Stringer , Saad, and Smith where 'experts' said would have them top four.

These players have failed do far.

If us or North or other rebuilding teams cant land a Lynch or Sloane or even a Gaff and they go to a big club, the competition is in huge strife.

How much longer will teams who are not constantly topped up by FA or bogus academies have their supporters stay loyal?

We can see how sick we are of it already.

Imagine this IPL type of comp because it seems thats the way its going.

I agree with both of you. I think the defensive game plans are ineffective against well coached sides, it will only be w matter of time before they're beaten again.

I also agree that AFL is quickly becoming like the IPL. For the first time in a long time I've lost hope in the equalization measures of the AFL. They feel completely ineffective. I fear zones. There's complaints over here from the WAFL Club of freo and wce pulling their talent into their affiliates. Some of it is highly rated.

The fact 5 of the 7 clubs to truly bottom out on a rebuild still haven't played finals is worrying. Then you have the dogs who fluked one and it doesn't look good. Even GWS although competitive don't look grand final bound.

The system is broken.

Sounds like I am making excuses for the Saints, but watching other games, it seems like a trend is becoming obvious.

Essendon looked worse than us v Hawthorn.

Even Melbourne with their 15 year rebuild are up and down like a fiddlers elbow.

These academies are a complete joke.

The draft is always compromised by academy picks and F/S.

All very compromised and then we add in the appalling quality of football.

Add to it a reduction in participation and therefore the player pool and it all adds up

The push to ensure teams in non AFL states are competitive has countered any equalisation measures IMO.

Blind Freddie could see Free Agency was only going to benefit the larger, more successful clubs. The players are getting paid very well, they're going to choose to go to historically successful clubs who are on the brink of winning flags.
Can't think of one top player who chose to go to bottom six club.

That's a bit simplistic. Look at Collingwood. We would have said the same about them two rounds in.

It's about having the players to execute. Carlton currently in the same boat... And even the dogs.

It's all about stifling the opposition and then scoring on the rebound. Whoever does it better, wins.

In terms of tactics, we brought in Playfair for a reason.

Beams was for personal reasons and GAJ got a kings ransom and a captaincy promise to make him move so theyre both kind of outliers. Im not sure many people even 3 years ago considered Carlisle a top player. No doubt he would fit into any backline in the league but not really sure he counts as a real star (even though he totally is)
