Dees are winning by 100 points a week at the moment when others seem to struggle to get over 90 points. I have Tiger, Hawks, Bulldogs and Dees mates. If every one of those loser *******s see a flag before me I'm out. I can't keep fronting up with nothing to show for all the heart ache.
Gringo your mood lately is really concerning, you need to change things up.

Change your favorite tipple, the boys at the palace flop house and grill got a different buss depending on the contents of the winning jug.

You can't walk away from football and you can't become an apostate like that former Richmond supporter we had on here.

Just drink the cool aide like the rest of us and hope for better things.

Personally I couldn't give a rats arse who wins if it isn't us, I dislike them all just some more than others.

I'm like a toddler who has a shit crack then calms down. I still wonder if I can even pretend to be happy if we are the only team to miss out on a GF of all my friends. I was born in the 70s, we haven't had much to celebrate in my time. I feel sorry for myself and the Dees haven't even made finals yet.

My flog Tigers mates are excruciating and I'm even ignoring my Hawks mates text who wants to go to the next Hawks Saints game because apparently we are both shit again....and we are going to lose that too. I ******* hate losing and I think I hate the Saints.

It's a bit like sticking your tongue on a 9 volt battery as a kid, you know the pain is going to come but you keep doing it any way, I'm not going to jump off, just turned into a miserable old curmudgeon.

Spoke to a guy who is Dogs supporter and said "I never thought I would see a Dogs flag in my lifetime". I think that I won't be seeing one, though I heard some of the '66 one on the radio as a kid.

What a load of sh*t this club has become.

I will see hope when Sumner, the current board and Richo are gone.

But why? Why not accept that life as a Saints supporter is miserable and will always be miserable? When viewed through this prism, existence is so much more enjoyable and balanced. You won't be opposed to the idea of success, you'll simply be accepting of the idea that it will never happen. Then, if the universe does smile on us (translation: the Club pulls its head out of its own ******* cavernous arse and ******* gets a clue!!!) and we experience the Ultimate, well, that will simply be icing on a cake already baked in the ovens of nirvana.

It sounds easy but I'm like a fat campaigner on a diet watching others eat cake. All my mean spirited qualities boil up and I become a ball of envious rage. I'm not really good with losing anything. I think in hindsight someone with my kind of pathological aversion to losing may have been better off following Manchester United or a team that is going to win you more games than they lose. ******* Saints, it's like a really unhealthy relationship that I must be kind of addicted to the drama of or something.

I'm sure there's a medical term for it. If not we can make one up like Post Traumatic Saints Disorder...

gringo...… I was just talking to a Saints mate on Sunday about this.

We were very spoilt in the years mid 2003 thru to the end of 2012...….we won more games than we lost each season for 10 years.

I believe that it's a VFL/AFL record.....no other side has done that.

Being a "survivor" of the 80's and parts of the 90's …..I never took any of the wins during that period of 10 years for granted.

We didn't get that big silver cup.....but it was a hell of a ride.

It's like clockwork. I never have to check what day it is, I can tell by Gringo's posts.

Just finished watching Koby Stevens on Fox Footy.

Too terrible what he is going through right now with his concussion. It was very sobering to watch. Close to finishing his business degree he can't concentrate for more than ten minutes at a time and can't even go to the club as there is too much stimulation there.

He must be so worried about his future. Aside from the fact that he is out of contract at the end of the year he has been told that there have been changes in his brain- which hopefully will heal through rehab, although no guarantees I suppose.

It was pretty distressing watching him describe how much he loved the game and he has no purpose to his days now, not being able to do too much.

Maybe after seeing this, some might think twice before labelling any players as soft.

Best wishes Koby, for a complete recovery.

That must be incredibly distressing and incredibly scary for him.

Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery over time.

Was all this due to the knock he received I think in Round 1?

He's had a few but I think that's the one that finally compounded it all, although he didn't tell the club I think because it was delayed onset concussion and that's the reason he played round two, which he should not have.

I'm a lover, not a fighter
For mine, I've accepted that St Kilda is like a frypan-burn on the kitchen-bench of my soul : it just isn't ever going to go away. I don't follow them because I ever, EVER think they'll win anything - that hope is now utterly eradicated. I don't follow them because they even represent an enjoyable pastime, most of the time - the incessant losses clearly indicate they aren't enjoyable, the vast majority of weeks. I follow them because, it's just in me to do so... well, and because of you guys.

I suspect there's a lot of us in that 30-70yo range who are the same. But it definitely doesn't bode well, in my opinion for the future. Kids have not had this bizarre masochistic love burned into them like we have, and they have far better things to do with their time. I also know many Saints supporters, including me, who have admitted they've discouraged their kids from following the Saints, or the AFL generally, these days - it's just not worth the crap they have to deal with at school, or the sheer hypocrisy and injustice of the AFL machine, or the misery they have to endure when the Saints lose. all. the. freakin. time. We love our kids too much to do that to them. My kids all follow NBA, MLB and stuff like that, instead, these days.

My dad, who was at the G in 66, will die a Saints supporter. So will I. But Saints support in my family will die with me, I suspect. Gotta break the spiral.

Spot on Perse.
I'll keep buying my kids their memberships but I can see them losing interest in the club well before they leave home and I stop paying for them myself or they change teams to stop the ridicule from school mates, or even to support a more successful team. They both sit and watch the NFL with me and the golf so I have no worries about their passion for sports - but if we don't turn this around an entire generation of kids will leave us in droves.
It's a huge worry and they both get more excited when the watch the wife's team (Collingwood). They get excited when Howe goes for a screamer or Grundy is racking up the pill - who have we got that kids identify with? My young bloke has a badge of Lonie ffs!
Dark times.
