Sidebottom was a bit of a surprise in the coaches votes, the rest are pretty self-explanatory though

Leaderboard after Round 6
33 Tom Mitchell (Haw)
31 Steele Sidebottom (Coll)
29 Max Gawn (Melb)
29 Dustin Martin (Rich)
28 Trent Cotchin (Rich)
28 Patrick Cripps (Carl)
28 Nat Fyfe (Fre)
25 Brodie Grundy (Coll)
24 Rory Laird (Adel)
23 Ben Brown (NM)

I rate this award as more relevant than the Brownlow, because it is voted by the coaches rather than umpires

Seems to be alot of talk about how the game isn't up to standard so far this season.

People have called for rules changes, coaches gameplans ruining the game and Robert Walls even suggested cutting the league down to 12 teams.

I think the problem is and it's happening in other sports aswell (especially NBA) that teams are more focused on recruiting athletes and trying to turn them into footballers instead of getting guys that are naturally gifted but don't quite have the athleticism as others and can't get a gig or atleast as much of an opportunity.

Comparing the quality of opponents they have had these first six rounds, I think that's pretty impressive by us, Richmond have only played one team that played finals last year and only one game away from home - which they lost!
Maybe we aren't playing as badly as many seem to think we are!

It probably doesn’t help with the AFL restricting things like interchanges which make the athletic types more desirable.

I’d also love to see how those changes have affected injury rates given they seem pretty high across the league.

I am in favour of cutting some teams. Won't happen by choice though, they are probably more likely to make it a 20 team comp.

80-90 more players listed per season now because of 18 team comp, most of them won't play a game or play very few games. Take the talent from those teams probably around 40 players and distribute those throughout the remaining 16 teams and you have stronger competition and in theory less shallow depth.
