Just thought it might be the time of year he will get a game, not much footage of him but he didn't seem scared of contact or bigger bodies to me.
Yes he's not which l thought was strange.
I've spoken to him and asked him about the bigger bodies and he said that wasn't an issue he likes the bigger contact it's the endurance an running patterns etc he's finding he needs to work on. He also grew like 10cm + recently so he's trying to fill out but that is going to take time.
He's a great kid very respectful and polite but has this confidence in himself. My friend who is on the coaching panel really rates him very highly everyone is very impressed with him.
BTW he absolutely loves the GC.

With a new plan, new players I don't think Dew has a luxury to give opportunity to players who are not ready yet. We need to get as many games into our best team as possible. I am afraid it will take some time to learn new plan, build cohesion. Transition year for me but I sure hope we will show some competitive spirit and much better defence.

BTW My friend who has been in AFL circles as a player and a coach for nearly 30 years said that Dew is absolutely fantastic. Said he is brilliant with people and makes everyone from the cleaner to the CEO feel valued and important.
Also great coach and football brain. Players love him. He's very hands on in all aspects but not in a controlling way. He's very very impressed with Dew.
So it's sounding really promising.

I have my fingers crossed for Will. He seems working hard, made already progress and seems like a great kid. Just keep eating jelly and icecream. He may turn out as a great good bye present from Clayton. A lot people were dismayed by another lanky player drafted by Clayton. No problem for me to wait 2 years with Will especially when Suns have so many 2+ year players to prove themselves. At pick 19 I am happy to go with potentially great player rather than with a player who has more mature body but lower ceiling (e.g. Worpel, Fogarty). Suns also traded/drafted young mature bodies in Wigg and Holman. A bit surprised nobody talks about Ballard who seems like a dam good talent.

He actually has a strong looking frame nice broad shoulders etc looks like a high jumper type.
Will fill out like a Koutoufides type hopefully.

It wouldn't surprise me if none of the Suns draftees play AFL this season.
Powell - the bolter of the AFL Draft first round, with rave reviews, but too skinny and inexperienced, let him learn in the NEAFL
Ballard - this kid could still be growing and was rated 20 spots higher than he went in the Draft.
Crossley - undersized ruckman with NEAFL experience, could end up as a forward or defender
Nutting - another Jesse Joyce, but needs to displace several others ahead of him
Holman - has the best chance of playing AFL, but he is not top 25 by any measure yet
Jaska - highest true rookie drafted after former AFL players, is already 19 and well on his way to becoming a key defender, except he is far down the list of incumbents
Heron - a small forward with defensive pressure
Dawson - an inside mid with upside, behind a few others in the rotation
There are 38 players more ready to play now and that is more than enough.

Updated list - down to 26

B: J.Harbrow 5, J.Leslie 21, J.Joyce 38
HB: P.Hanley 1, R.Thompson 16, K.Kolodjashnij 10

HF: J.Martin 4, T.Lynch 19, J.Lyons 25
F: A.Sexton 6, S.Day 12, S.Lemmens 23
Foll: J.Witts 28 , T.Miller 11, A.Young 15
I/C from: T.Nicholls 22, M.Rosa 3, B.Ainsworth 9, D.MacPherson 44, M.Rischitelli 35, J.Bowes 29, W.Brodie 41, N.Holman 39

Emerg: B.Scheer 18, M.Spencer 43, M.Barlow 20, M.Willis 34

Notable absentees: Michael Barlow, Steven May, David Swallow, Peter Wright

After listening to part of the Lions vs Swans game, I would not want to be a Lions supporter this year. Given the Suns play the Lions in JLT2 and again next month, it will be interesting to see how they reconcile their defensive woes and impotent attack. The defence was relying on Harris Andrews, Darcy Gardiner and Daniel McStay to mind Lance Franklin, Sam Reid and Josh Kennedy, but the Swans were too tall (the Swans forward line was not that tall). Up forward, the Lions had only Hipwood as a marking target and they only managed 1 mark inside forward 50 from 40 entries. The Lions thrashed the Swans in the hit ups and clearances, but couldn't convert any of it.

Geelong seem to have a similar set up to the Lions, maybe worse down back. No Harry Taylor, no Lachie Henderson, I think the lesser Kolodjashnij might be their tallest defender and only Zach Tuohy has any experience. Their forward line consists of Tom Hawkins and they've named Esava Ratugolea, Fijian ruck forward picked at #43 in 2016. Interestingly, they have named Zac Smith, Rhys Stanley and Wylie Buzza, so they will have height but the 5 of the 6 tallest players all seem to be forwards, with Blicavs the odd man out in the midfield - still no defensive talls though. The Suns have named 2 tall forwards, 2 tall defenders and 2 rucks.

Geelong are playing 6 players yet to debut in the AFL and 3 others with fewer than 10 games. Losing this game really isn't an option for the Suns because the Cats don't send out undermanned sides like this with over 1300 games of experience not named. In fact, after closer examination, if Geelong get through this season with another top 4 finish it will be quite the achievement as their list is lop-sided and brittle.

Funnily enough I was on bucks party with a guy involved at Geelong and he told me they have got Danger and Joel Selwood (not Ablett) playing an intra-club this morning using the players they elected not to take up to Townsville and their VFL squad

Was slightly bitter about how the Melbourne (and to a certain extent local) media made Brisbane their Northern darlings last year
Given we have become their kick toy not surprising
But as long as they have Daniel Rich rolling around in their best 22 they aren't going far IMO

I saw the below the video and the interview with Wil's younger sister and 3 things that stood out to me were:

1. You can tell who she is related to before she opens her mouth
2. You can tell the whole family is awesome in the 15 sec snippet
2. Her final words were probably the funniest thing that the Suns media department have captured in the last few years

Also looks like Wil has moved in with Touk and 2MP so the dynamic duo could be evolving into the 3 amigos

Good start by the Suns. Too bad we have to watch the game with the sound on mute with the 3 Suns haters on commentary in Dwayne Russell Gerard Healy and David King
I’m liking what I see defensively so far

Not too bad by the team so far. Not great but not bad. Commentary team is really bouyed by the improvements. Makes me wonder though if by some chance the suns go 4,3 or even 2 straight wins to start the season will the media only be talking about how stuart dew has single handedly made this club a success. Because we all know the talent has been their for a while.
