Didn’t he have some sort of abdominal issue too which was hospitalising him regularly???
I have come to the conclusion that for a first round draft pick he is unfortunately a bust. Mainly due to Kade just having one of those bodies that is always in the Wars. It’s nobodies fault, just unlucky.
I am with 17er. I re-watched the game. KK looked OK to me after long lay off as Thompson, Leslie, Weller. I still remember KK in his first several years - just gliding in HB and intercepting everything. He sure is a talent and deserves a chance. It's just JLT. As Dew said some players use it as preparation and some try to make a case for selection. McPherson, Sexton, Lemmens, Holman, possibly Brodie made a compelling case for selection. I personally enjoyed watching McPherson. It looks like he built his body and finally got confidence. It was great to hear in his interview that Dew gives players freedom, about family atmosphere in the club where everybody is equal. Go Dew!

I'm also a bit concerned for KK for what it's worth. He'll never be a contested ball player but on the weekend he definitely looked even more outside than normal.

I want to be clear though that this is entirely normal given that when he has put his head in dangerous situations in the past he has been knocked out (repeatedly), and the latest concussion had given him symptoms and headaches for months and months afterwards. It is absolutely fine that he takes a bit to get back into his groove to play a sport like AFL again. This being his first actual hit out where other guys want to hurt him is going to cause his body do to some things that he doesn't want it to do, just because of subconscious fears and whatnot. That will take time to overcome. It could take several weeks of play.

I also feel that if he gets one more concussion it's game over. Retirement. As Bods said, that's no-bodies fault. Except for maybe our Coaches for not training him well enough to protect himself.

Also FWIW I noticed Kade sat out the fourth quarter with ice on his elbow. I'm assuming it's nothing major given Dew reported no other injuries.

Sadly, last two concussions KK got where during training trying to learn tackling.

to the contrary, I can confirm that yelling like a lunatic is actually the best way to receive information.
I have no idea where you are getting your info from mate.
They could bring back corporal punishment for you and it still wouldn't work.

Hate to say it, but I think KK and Rosa are in the same boat. The headgear is partly placebo, mainly useful for dulling sharp blows. Even NFL helmets don't stop concussions and the research into CTE suggest that every medium knock causes damage.

BTW credit where it is due - I loathe Hall but he had a great game on the weekend.

Much rather an 18 touch, 8 tackle game from him where he is part of the team structure than him racking up 35 touches and the team getting killed going back the other way.

Thurls was saying that Hall was uncoachable in previous years - maybe he just hadn't met Stewart Dew yet :thumbsu::footy:

Still saw him pull out of a contest going back with the flight but even that was much better than what it was last year and at least attempted to make it look like he might have gone in.

Never thought I’d say this before, but losing both Hall and Lemmens to injury would be a big blow.

As someone said though, with the one soldier out, one soldier in theory, if we can get to this level in our development, we will be much better prepared when disaster hits.

Let me get this straight,... Now we all love Lemmens? Don't get me wrong, I am a fan. Always hoped that we had a place for him playing defensive Forward but he's been the whipping boy here for a solid 4 years, yet somehow now we all are worried with him potentially out injured.

Agree it was a JLT game only. I saw some positive signs, he even looked very different in terms of body shape and language. But it really doesn't mean much ultimately.
I think there is a strong possibility he may improve greatly under Dew. Possibly he, like many others didn't respond to being constantly abused and belittled then given a totally different message to there face.
