have been thinking about our 2018
It's not such a bad thing.We're expected to do do badly with the away game schedule first half.
But I'm hoping new coach, new vibe, new players will be forged into a team on the anvil of adversity

My forward line is
Hall, Lynch, Martin
Ainsworth, Wright, Sexton

Ah Chee is injured, Swallow too important in the midfield and Sexton appears to have outperformed Young. Sexton is also incumbent and I think one of the common denominators to success is when he plays on the flank or in the pocket. Just my opinion. I'd be happy to see Young have a go and look forward to Ah Chee's return.

You can have too many inside mids in the middle, lyons swallow or Brodie. With Lonergan as fringe, I think you have one as a defensive fwd. we need more uses of the footy on the field. Sexton is not a good user

I just watched the replay of our aflx game against Sydney and we would have won it if we could kick. Sexton was one of the worst in front of goal

Yeah sexton is a runner , IMO his a winger all day , doesn’t have great defensive pressure , is not s elite kick , one of he or Rosa I can see being squeezed out if Weller takes a wing.

Agreed, he will end up surplus to our needs as the kids come on.
 
Jarrod Garlett is named in JLT for the Blues. Of all the Free Agency and Trade rules copied from the NFL, one of the things that the AFL should have adapted is compensatory Draft Picks when your star pick washes out and gets picked up by another club. I felt sorry for the guy at the time, but he's been badmouthing the Suns ever since Carlton picked him up. Bring on Round 2. Can't wait to see him get rag-dolled by his former team mates for bagging them. I know it probably belongs in the other thread, but while we are talking about small forwards

If Garlett is playing round 2 in their seniors, then Carlton are in a world of pain.

Barlow is the same as ever - super fit, winning half of the time trials, elected to the leadership group, mentoring the young bucks, enjoying being able to go out in public without being recognised and still, despite 5 coaches and 12 preseasons, can't take an overhead mark under even the faintest whiff of pressure in a game situation.
 
When is the JLT 1 team being announced?

Whiting has pretty much announced Rischitelli at half back flank and Day has said he'll only be playing forward.

I think Friday night. Dew has said it will be pretty close to our round 1 team so looking forward to it. Hoping Weller will be named.

That is good to know. There's already a lot of chatter about Weller in comparison to Dow and LDU. I personally could give a stuff about rookies. I want to see the second, third and fourth year players, including Weller, with a proper preseason and time in the weights room. Most importantly, what influence Dew has had over the playing group and a hint of what kind of a gameplan
