The reigning premier has only won 4 of the last 10 (initial) rematches. Interesting
Is it really? small sample size, 4/10 doesn't mean too much either. It could go either way, which I think is shown by the general "no we're the underdog" vibe that people on both sides here are going on about.

As someone else referenced, the MCG isn't a hoodoo anymore for us. Whoever decided that Optus should have MCG-ish dimensions is owed a big debt of gratitude by WC & fans.

Pies midfield depth = half their team

Wouldnt be surprised to see bucks come out and do a midfield cameo just to really rub the depth in
Reports too coming in that Swanny is coming out of retirement just for Saturday night. That depth is really going to test the Coasters!

Bit like the week leading up to the Granny.
Hardly worth us turning up.
$2.65 hey, might be worth a punt.

If the Eagles win this it will crush the Magpies confidence facing West Coast. It would be 4 straight wins against them coming from round 17 onward. 3 wins in just their last 7 games of footy too.

I think the most interesting thing is that 3 sides who copped an absolute shellacking in the gf (pies 2011, swans 2014, adelaide 2017) all won the rematch. If there was any residual scarring from the big day it wasn't immediately evident

We are due to whave the wood over them - theyve had it over us for years.

Id like a 20+ year winning streak at the g please

Moore Elliot Roughead and Beams are massive ins to our 2018 GF team, not to mention a fully fit Pendlebury and Treloar.
And weve just lost duggan

Although that means schofield can come in and hopefully terrorise de goey again.....mmmm i think schoey played the game of his life in that granny be lucky to swamp dg twice in a row

Forgot DeGoey.........was also playing September on one leg, nursing a lower leg injury that he missed a month of footy for in about August

Talk of revenge in Rd 3 is silly.

Do you reckon Geelong got revenge on Hawthorn for pinching the 2008 GF because they beat them in Rd the next year? Of course not. I think they won 10 or 11 in a row until they lost the 2013 prelim by a kick. But none of that makes up for kicking 6.12 and 11.23.

The only GF revenge (that's Grand Final, don't go Googling) you see is when teams meet again in Grand Finals. See Haw/Syd 2012/14 WC/Syd 2005/6. Sorry Sydney, maybe you'll get a Bulldogs rematch.

Collingwood will want to beat us primarily to set their season up from 2-1 and not 1-2 and also to prove to themselves that they can. Two very tight finals last year and we got over the line in both, so they'll have a small monkey on the back. Which will probably be removed by Jordan De Goey.
You’re not allowed to talk common sense. What you’ve said above does not work for people/media’s narrative about Saturday night being be all and end all!

Grand Final rematch record since 2009 (1st rematch only, reigning premier in bold)

Hawthorn defeated by Geelong
Geelong defeated by St Kilda
Collingwood defeat St Kilda
Geelong defeated by Collingwood
Sydney defeated by Hawthorn
Hawthorn defeat Fremantle
Hawthorn defeated by Sydney
Hawthorn defeat West Coast
Bulldogs defeat Sydney
Richmond defeated by Adelaide

So it’s almost a 50/50 contest then? lol

Yeah he was truly awful against richmond the week before

Surprised he wasnt dropped hobbling round with a crutch like that.

Are you trolling with 2011?

Geelong put their foot to the pedal in the last but the game was well and truly live at three quarter time.

Adelaide accounted for Richmond comfortably in 2018 and look how they went after that.

Another garbage thread...
No look at how the Dees have gone since Prelim day 2018. 3 All mighty whippings. The Pies have this one covered. Enjoy your season in hell.

You managed 3.6 to 10.5 after half-time (and didn't kick a single goal in the final quarter). That's a drubbing Tarks
Oh good you are trolling then.

If that qualifies as a drubbing than both 2010 and 2015 do comfortably.
